The restaurant area was nice, not very large, and most of the tables were filled by lunch time. There appeared to be only one server for lunch and while she did her best to keep up, the service got pretty slow as the tables filled up. The menu was varied with plenty of selections and prices were comparable to other similar restaurants in town. Everyone seemed to like the food they ordered, but I have to say the portions were much smaller than expected. I ordered a pulled pork sandwich and fries. It was tasty, but the sandwich was about the size of a regular McDonalds cheeseburger, and the fries were about what you get in a small order of fries. That cost $12.95, and as a value, it was noticeably less than what you could get at any number of nearby places for the same money. It just gave us a feeling of being skimped on. All in all it was ok and I'd go back and try it again but it wouldn't be my first choice of places to go.

Why are they trying to get everyone to leave? A few groups did get up to leave at that point. The ambiance went from "relaxing nice local bar" to "you don't have to go home but get the eff outta here". Just an FYI for Old Canal Inn: you cannot go wrong with classic 70's rock playing in the background. It's a genre pretty much everyone likes. Probably shouldn't rely on that one busboy with peculiar tastes to pick the music.
