I'm not sure if the person I encountered at Capitol Lighting was Duane, the manager who posted some information about himself as the new manager of the store along with his values as a manager and a sales person. Today, I worked with a female sales associate who began to ring up the sale. She asked for my full name and wanted my address. I asked, "why do you need my address? Please I already get a lot of junk mail, I'd just like to buy the ($150) lamp." She said, "I can't write up the invoice without your address. Then a taller gentleman (Duane?) came to the counter and said, that's our policy. We can't make a sale without your address. That when I said, we'll I have a policy too. I'm not buying your lamp. What Duane (or whomever the tall gentleman was) got wrong is that the customer is always right. They didn't need my address. If he was really a manager, or at least a good one, he would have done the sale and maybe even earned a repeat customer. Instead, he had to show that he believe he was in a position of authority to repeat a meaningless store policy. Personally, I don't care about your policy. I can buy items of much greater value without giving my personal information. Why should I do it for a $150 lamp? What's ironic is what is written by Duane on the Capitol Lighting Yelp Web page: "Duane strives to go the extra mile and make the customer's shopping experience the best it can be. He treats every customer as he would a family member and isn't satisfied unless everyone that leaves his store is happy with their purchase. " This is false. Not only did Duane not go the extra mile, he didn't budge an inch. Maybe he does treat his customers like his family members, but that says something about how he treats his family members, not his customers. Bottom line is that this statement written by Capital is fluff with a capitol "F." No pun intended. And by the way, that's the grade they get in my book. Capitol Lighting, I wouldn't be surprised if you weren't around this time next year. Just saying. read more

I recently purchased ceiling fixtures from Capitol Lighting. The whole experience was a very positive one. The display of models was quite extensive, unlike at many other lighting shops which have to resort to catalogs. The sales people were both knowledgeable and helpful. I recently purchased a 3 way floor lamp at the Eatontown store. It was not in stock, however I as able to pick it up in three days.
