I came here with some friends for the opera and it was such a blast! The performers are excellent and talented! The lobby area is very nice looking and had character from its older age. They even have a screen with the translations of needed and the staff were friendly. The concessions are limited but they have an excellent system down so you can get your treat very fast! My only complaint is the chairs in the theater are old, small, and super squished together so it wasn't the most comfortable seating... maybe they could make an update to the seats in the future.

Elegant Capitol Theatre is centrally located close to many shops and walkable to various other dlc downtown areas. The theater itself has a very nice comfortable friendly staff and they've always had quality productions here snd we'vealways had a good experience.

It looks like good seats for the Opera this season.

I've been here a lot of times, for many different types of shows. Yet, I've never reviewed it. Hmmm. This is a mid sized classic theatre. It's hard to find a bad seat. Yea, it would be nice to have more legroom and all, but this really is the original old school place. The details are beautiful. It's a joy for the eye. It's also the perfect size for the Opera. By only nits are that I'd like them to open the main room a little earlier before the show, and I'd like more proper options for beer and wine. That's not a lot.

The sign right outside the theatre.

This past winter was the first time I went to this theatre to watch the classic winter tale: The Nutcracker. I was thoroughly impressed with the quality of the show and the professionalism of it all. I believe that this is one of the Jewels of Salt Lake City because it has been here for a while and has built up its reputation. For a night, it felt nice to get dressed up with a snazzy tie and head down to the theatre because the little charm that the theatre has just makes you feel classy. I await the next time I get to go to this wonderful, splendid theatre.

Okay, so I have a slightly different perspective than most. I am on wheels, and the capitol theatre is not the most accessible place. I either have to sit way in the back or the very far side. However this is okay with me because of the pure beauty this building displays. I would not change it's integrity. I have seen wonderful shows here including: wicked, the lion king, phantom of the opera and mary poppins. I am always impressed with the caliber of performers.

The best place to sit for theatre productions, in my opinion, is the mezzanine

Ballet here is pretty good watched many ballet shows. The only complaint is that their concessions are very expensive

We were in town for school and decided to check out the Off Broadway Theatre. The show was sold out…read morebut there is a row in the back that is not used and we were able to snag two seats there since the young woman at the entrance was lovely. We saw Dracula vs. the Hunchback and it was fantastic! It was funny and interactive; they had great parodies for well-known songs and the actors were super entertaining. If we lived in town, we would be frequent patrons. When we return for graduation, we will be sure to come by if there is a show playing. What a completely unexpected and delightful night we were able to enjoy! I would strongly recommend it and am very grateful we had the opportunity to see the show in the rather comfortable fold up chairs. Next time we will buy tickets earlier and sit in the super comfy seats!

The snacks were inexpensive and typical movie theater fare. Think popcorn, candy and sodas. They were quick to get your snacks and were on time with the performance. Afterwards the cast will meet guests outside the theater which is a very nice addition. The ticket pricing was similar to seeing a movie. So, for something different and cost effective a great family night out!

i bought tickets for family members as a gift. we all went to "Thriller". don't waste your money…read more i am embarrassed that this was their gift. the cost is the same as Hale Theater, go there instead!!!! i'm not sure who wrote the script, they need to go back to the drawing board. the performers talents were wasted in this show!!!! soooo sooo unfortunate, so much filler that didn't make any sense. seemed like something for grade schoolers. Bubbles the Klown's opening act needs to be cut and his character changed. more dancing and singing would have been great. that's what i thought we had purchased tickets for. soo disappointing.

I'd never heard of it until I discovered that they were playing Rocky Horror Picture Show-the live version. Since our annual pilgrimage to Tower Theater didn't happen this year (thanks Covid) I was eager to find an alternative. It wasn't until my wife and I pulled into the parking lot, 30 minutes before showtime, that we realized this wasn't the movie, this was a real honest-to-goodness play. Gulp. How was this going to be? Fast forward a couple hours...it was AMAZING! I know this review isn't about the show itself, but rather the venue. So I'll say that the theater itself was beautiful, very comfortable and spacious. It accommodated a large audience nicely, with plenty of legroom and aisle space. I didn't feel cramped, like I do in other local, small theaters. Parking is plentiful, and free. I felt like our car was safe in the lot, and it was well lit, providing extra security. Now that I know this little gem is here, I'll look into what other plays they have coming up and will very likely return.
