Capitol Towing cannot be trusted. They took my vehicle without my permission and refused to give it back.

Was told it was ready, at pickup the front bug shield was not reinstalled properly. There was a screwdriver left in the engine bay under the hood. The condenser coil was not properly reinstalled and was flopping against the radiator. The incorrect front bumper was installed, I no longer have parking sensors, they all have to be turned off to not have a constant alarm and warning on the dash. The tailgate will not open and close properly. None of the gaps are correct, all the aftermarket trim pieces look like crap. Every time the sun hits it I find new dirt and imperfections in the paint/clear coat. It was also returned dirtier than when I dropped it off. I keep a clean vehicle and there was a nasty film over all the glass, noticed the initials HK smeared into one window. Found the start of a mouse nest under the rear seat when I went to put my belongings back into the vehicle. Apparently it was also never measured to see if the frame or bed is out of alignment which may be part of the tailgate issue. Went to a second shop and found where the radiator support was beat back semi straight with a hammer and is still damaged. 2nd shop continues to find un-repaired damage, including frame damage, stripped/broken bolts, body shims, and damaged junkyard parts like the hood that were listed on the final invoice given to me as OEM replacement. Good luck getting corporate to answer the phone or respond to communication sent through their web form.

I spoke with Mrs. Janette who was very helpful and caring. She kept a smile on her face the whole time & made me feel at home. I was told repairs would take about 3 weeks to be fixed due for severity of the repairs on my car. I was given calls for updates 3 times a week & found this very impressive & felt like they really cared about me and I was more than just another number to them. I was called on a Thursday morning round 11AM and told my car was ready & was ready ahead of time! I was very happy that I was able to get my car back so quickly. I went around the car with Josh and everything looked amazing! It was a very well done job & I couldn't have asked for anything better. From the beginning to the middle to the end I have nothing but positivity for this shop. Thank you again for helping me with getting my car back looking like new again. I would recommend this shop to anyone who is looking for a job well done & timely as well. Thank you again for all that you did!

I intended to post this review shortly after the experience in mid-November, but travel, the…read moreholidays, and personal matters delayed it. While traveling from California to Florida, our van began overheating in Flowood, Mississippi. Because it was late in the day, we contacted Barnett's Body Shop, where Dillon arranged a tow to their facility. We were told the tow would be reimbursed by AAA, which later turned out not to be the case. Barnett's diagnosed the issue as a cracked radiator overflow tank due to age and dry rot. We were told the radiator needed to be removed to replace the tank and that they were attempting to locate a genuine Toyota part. Ultimately, an aftermarket overflow tank was installed. We later learned that this tank was smaller than the original, not the correct part for our vehicle, and that radiator removal was not required for this repair. The same day we picked up the van, it overheated again within approximately 30 miles. Barnett's arranged a second tow back to their shop. At that point, we were told they do not perform this type of repair and that the vehicle would need to be taken to a Toyota dealership, which was confusing given that the repair had already been completed and towing had been coordinated twice. We were referred to Gray Daniels Toyota, where we were informed the overflow tank was aftermarket but were assured it would function properly. Based on that assessment, we cautiously continued our trip, stopping frequently to monitor the vehicle. After arriving in Florida, the van overheated again. A Toyota repair shop there determined that the incorrect overflow tank had been installed--one intended for a different model with a tow package--and that original Toyota components had been removed to make it fit. Due to repeated overheating, coolant entered the engine, and the cylinder heads now require replacement. The estimated repair cost is approximately $7,000, and the vehicle is currently not drivable. This experience caused significant financial hardship and major disruption during an already stressful trip. I would encourage travelers to verify a shop's experience with mechanical repairs and to confirm that correct, manufacturer-approved parts are used, particularly when dealing with engine or cooling system issues.
