I went in for an eye exam and to get new glasses on June 10. I was told it would take two weeks to get my glasses in, ok. I called two weeks later, on the 24th, was told my glasses were "in finishing" & should be back Mon or Tues. I called again on July 1; I was told I would be called back with an update. Nothing. Today, I went to pick up my glasses (after calling a 4th time and leaving a VM) & they just handed them to me. NO time to see if they fit across the nose, NO time to see if they fit across the ears, NO time to see if they were helping me see. Is this the way they treat Medicaid patients (which I am) or the way they treat EVERYONE? I would never recommend a friend to this place. I appreciate that when I scheduled my appointment she informed me of my copay. It's always nice to know what to except. Taylor was very nice and thorough. This place is great and the entire staff was awesome!!! I found my new eye dr and if you're in the lookout for a good one you may borrow mine. All seriousness they worked with my schedule and my sons nap time to make sure we were taken care of and the level of engagement and personality was really fun. Just the kindest establishment. I was visiting New Orelans from out of town and forgot to pack my contacts. I called and asked them if there was any way I could pay for some samples to tie me over. Not only did they help me, they made adjustments when I wasn't able to come during opening hours to make sure I got what I needed. And didn't let me pay for them. DO NOT GO HERE!!! AND ZERO This place is terrible all the way around. My glasses are incorrect AGAIN. She has a policy that she will remedy the solution with a one time remake of your lenses if they are not correct. So think about this...she is already admitting that she is going to make a mistake. I know for certain that all of my past doctors would had made it right no matter what. Well, my second pair of $600 lenses are incorrect again. I went for my second exam. After the exam, she stated and I'm quoting, "oh I did make a mistake." I have bifocals that did me no good. So she then examined me for those and said, "oh since you work in a restaurant, I didn't think you needed see things that close." ‍‍ What the hell does that even mean? I don't read??! I don't have a hobby that may need to be seen up close? She then proceeded to say, "oh I didn't think you would want them that strong." So, during that exam, when I stated, "oh my gosh that's perfect right where it is." She said she was going to take them down a notch because she was afraid of them being too strong. Umm, she's not wearing them!! ‍‍. So now I am stuck with $600 glasses that I have to take off in order to see up close or put cheaters on over my $600 for the next two years. What the F?!?!?! She was supposed to make my situation better not worse I could have kept my old glasses, bought a piece of art and stood with my nose on it in order to enjoy it. Furthermore, my distance isn't correct either. I can't read street signs. My husband is deaf. We always have CC on the tv. I can't read the tv and it is literally 8' away. I should have paid full price for a good, reputable and competent doctor. Because that $100 I "saved" has done me so much. PS I write this to you with my glasses off so I may see up close. Eyes on Canal went above and beyond to help us out in a pinch when our freshman daughter ran out of her daily contacts just as final exam week was starting. Bobbi worked with us and our local optometrist's office to get her set up with a week's worth of contacts to tide her over until she comes home. This involved multiple calls and quite a bit of her time today, and she was gracious and extremely helpful the whole time. I first went to Eyes on Canal due to a weird eye infection. They have been incredibly awesome! I had no prior history with them and needed to be seen right away. They squeezed me in same day, no problem. It has been two weeks and about 5 appointments later and all is clearing up. My care has been nothing less than excellent! I'm 54 and this was my first time getting fitted for glasses (I got tired of keeping up with readers). I thought the eye exam went well. I made it a point to tell Dr. Jackson to keep in mind I'm at a computer all day. In 2 weeks my glasses came in. John, the optical manager handed them to me and had me sign a form giving me 30 days to return with any issues - "They'll take a couple days to get used to". I returned to work afterwards and immediately noticed the view of my computer was blurry no matter how much I adjusted my chair, distance from the screen, etc. Also, the glasses were falling of my face when I looked down. In order to read my head was in a unnormal position. Thinking maybe my eyes would adjust I waited a few days. They did not. I returned and told them my issues. John said they would ask the lab for an adjusted prescription based on my issues. They were to be ready in a couple weeks. 3 weeks passed, no call. I called John and was told he would call the lab and see what the hold up was. I never heard back. I called a week later and was told he would call the lab immediately and call me back. I never heard back. I called back a few days later and demanded an apology. I got one and was told my lenses should be in that day or the day after and I would get a call to let me know regardless if they came in or not. I NEVER GOT A CALL BACK. The following Monday (a week later) I walked into the office and asked to speak to the Optical manager. And what do you know, he found my lenses. "They came in last Friday". I told him, I was completely disgusted with the lack of customer service, I no longer wanted them and demanded a refund. The only good part of the experience is that Fabyana the manager apologized and gave me a full refund. read more

This was the most thorough and high tech eye exam I've ever had. Dr. Jackson is so passionate about what she does and your long term eye health. She does an amazing job of explaining to you everything that is happening. And her staff are so friendly and helpful. The clinic is beautiful as well. Although my vision is pretty clear, she was able to get me a light prescription to ease my eye strain and reduce the harmful light coming from looking at a computer screen all day. Most of the staff here are relatively friendly, but two of the staff members are pointedly unfriendly, unhelpful. Parking is non existent. Both times I have been for exams, they have upsold me on items I did not need or billed me incorrectly in a way that required another in person visit to fix/insurance refund. A little over a year ago I went to this place because of a recommendation about the doctor. Truth be told, it was a great exam. More thorough than any other eye doctor experience in New Orleans. That's where the good ended. The new then contract technician (meaning doc hired a service) screwed up my prescription. Then after waiting more for them to correct their dumb mistake I had fun trying to pick up the corrected glasses. That experience included several calls on the day they were supposed to arrive (and if I remember correctly, after they called me) only to be told they weren't there (when in fact they were there). Now today... Because of covid I'm living out of state. Called to see the (new) technician to get my glasses adjusted because they are slipping. The very friendly staff (another reason for giving two stars and not less) said the technician would be back from lunch at 1 pm. So, I arrive at 1. At about 1:50, this person arrives from lunch after the staff texted her several times. Must be nice to have a nearly 2 hour lunch. Did she adjust my glasses? Yes. She did the minimum for sure (no heating up a special tool for my brand of glasses). Will it work? No clue. I told her that because the office was warm and humid, they were sticking to my face. So, who knows. Guess I'll figure it out when I go back to my new home. One last insult from this place....I asked for a copy of my prescription since I live out of town, and the doc (again) seemed to have done a most thorough examination. Thought I'd be good to have on hand if I need a new doc. The answer was that I could NOT get MY prescription, that I paid for, for me, because it was out of date as of Aug. 1. Said it was "illegal" to give it to me. Seems odd. Particularly these days given the extenuating circumstances. Well, no worries, I will never go back there. I visit here often, could easily keep them as my eye doc, but no way. If you're OK with schizophrenic service, this could be your place. I'm done. read more

The exam was thorough and she explained everything as we went along. This is the first time in my 40 years of wearing glasses that I was offered contacts so I could see the frames I was trying on after the exam....what a kind - and useful thing to do!
