My hot water tank was leaking so I called Reichert and Sons to come out and help. As usual, they were extremely nice when I called. I paid the service fee of $175 and someone came out the next day. The technician inspected my unit and told me that my pipping was getting old and I could replace the pipes or eventually replace the hot water tank. I asked him how much it would cost for each option and he said he would need to talk to the main office and they would send me a quote and I could decide. The next day I received a $4,000 quote to replace the hot water tank. I called to ask about the quote to just fix the pipes. The woman on the line said she would need to speak to her manager and get back to me. Two days later they sent me the same $4,000 replacement only quote with the last sentence changed to "Tank can not be repaired - replace is the only option." This is not what the technician told me. To be thorough, I called a different company who came out and told me the tank isn't that old and I should replace the pipping. He fixed the pipping for $300 and that was over 4 months ago with no problems since. I am glad I went to a different vendor because trying to cheat people out of money is a horrible way to do business. I haven't asked for my $175 service fee back because I don't want to communicate with unethical people. If you do go to Reichert & Sons, I suggest you get a second opinion.

Their goal isn't to do quality heating and air conditioning work. Their goal is to earn your trust so that you'll more expediently part with your money. The owner is aware that there have been some issues lately - mostly due to the fact that he caused them. His reply to one less-than-satisfied customer: we will work harder to gain everyones trust back. And the BEST way to earn that trust back? Double down on the "marketing", forget about the customers and post a slew of fake five-star Google reviews. He copied reviews from other HVAC companies, changed the names and then had them posted on his Google business page. I've attached a series of images here which showcase *some* of them. (You can ignore the highlighted text; it is just a remnant of my searches.) You'll see a CT Heat Pros review, and underneath it you'll see the legitimate review that was stolen. These people are complete scammers. I had them out to do the yearly maintenance on my central air,…read moreand after the cleaning they told me that my condenser was down 1.5 lbs of Freon. I agreed to have them top it off, and they charged me $229/lb for it (R22), which I didn't realize at the time was an exorbitant price. Less than a week later the system wasn't blowing cold air, so I had them come back to look at it again. This time they said that all the Freon was gone, which means the compressor had a leak, and due to the age of the system you can't get a replacement compressor, so I would have to replace the entire system. They quoted me $5400 to replace the whole system, then pressured me to move quickly so I wouldn't take time to think about things. Thankfully, I didn't let them pressure me into a premature decision. I decided to get a second opinion from a company I've worked with before. They did a pressure test on my condenser for six days, and sure enough, there's no leak. The refrigerant was actually all gone (that might be the only true thing Heat Pros told me) but it definitely didn't leak out on it's own. This other technician and I came to the conclusion that Heat Pros deliberately let the refrigerant out when they were working on my system the first time so that it would stop working and they could convince me to buy a whole new system from them. Talking to this technician is also how I learned that R22 should cost $54/lb, not $229/lb.

The house is now heating back up. I had a similar emergency years ago when my water heater burst and they were equally responsive and helped me also get a clean up crew out.
