Out of all the places that I ate during this vacation this was hands down the best!!! I had the filet with garlic mashed potatoes with white gravy. The drinks are out of this world and the service is top notch. Had the goat cheese flat bread for a shareable appetizer and was out of this world. Just coming into town after a 7 hour drive and waiting for the rest of our party to arrive, I found this place on Yelp! When we came in, we were the only people in there and we went and sat at the bar. It was off season, and pretty early, before we left, it had filled up. Fatigued by driving, we were delighted to have wonderful conversation with the bartender, whose name I regret that I don't remember... we'll call her Lauren because she reminded us remarkably of our Lauren who manages the restaurant in our community. It was lovely starting to wind down from our trip in a cozy and lovely space. We tried two of the flatbread appetizers and both were amazing. Once our other couple made it into town we had another round and then headed to our rooms at the Wyndham at the Meadows, super close. We really did intend to return and try to spend more time with our new Lauren friend, but ended up staying so busy we didn't make it back. Next time, though, we love Branson, so we will be back! read more

Absolutely disappointing overall. The steak itself was relatively good but everything else was terrible. We had a large-ish party (13 people) but it took FOREVER. Got served 1 drink but never even asked if we wanted another. The waitress (and supposed manager) was disorganized and got most orders wrong. One poor guest waited over an hour for her food to finally come out. The checkout process was a totally different nightmare. Dinner and cocktails were delicious but be aware the prices are up there and are not on the menus. One shared dinner and two cocktails were over $100. $66 for the steak and $30 for two cocktails. I'll state it here as well. The food was horrible! The reviews your reading are tasteless fibs. The steaks went into the trash. The salads are withered and the sides (aside from the baked potatoes) are cold! The owner gets quite upset when you tell people the TRUTH OR WILL TRY TO INTIMIDATE YOU INTO BUYING INEDIBLE FOOD. The HONEST truth is it needs to be closed down! Save your money and go elsewhere, you'll be happier! I would only recommend this place if you just had to have a steak and baked potato. Just a regular old steak with a regular old baked potato. There are plenty of other steakhouses that you can get just as good for half the price. Plus you wouldn't have to put up with the unbearably loud singer caterwauling the whole time you're there. It's so loud you can't even talk to anyone at your table let alone hear the server! I happened to be one that didn't get a baked potato. I got the garlic mashed potatoes. They were an absolute joke. I guess they didn't lie. Technically they were mashed up potatoes. But that about it. Very little garlic. Absolutely no salt or dairy of any kind. I had to season them and try to add enough butter to make them edible. But it was in vain. They just never got there. The only thing I ate was the salad and a roll. I was really sad too. It was my birthday dinner with my family and I didn't even get to eat! I had hoped to get a birthday dessert but it was just SOOOO loud in there we had to leave!!! I'm sorry. Interesting place, dark atmosphere, host wore the traditional '30's garb, which was fun. This speakeasy is located in a building with other businesses, so it's a bit unassuming at first. But the interior has all the makings for a traditional speakeasy. My husband and I came down for a long weekend in Branson/Eureka Springs. Found Capones on Yelp with pretty good reviews so we checked it out. We will definitely come back when in the area! The menu is small, but we see that as a positive. Nothing worse than a restaurant with a book for a menu. It usually means they don't do anything very well. Not the case in this fine establishment. I ordered their take on a Moscow mule, but this one was better than any other mule I've had. Including fresh muddled blackberries and mint... I got the Roasted Pepper and Goat Cheese Flatbread and a side Caesar Salad. My husband got the pork chop with asparagus and a Caesar salad. The asparagus was cooked to perfection. As was the pork chop (and my husband is a very good griller/cook and therefore often hard to impress). My flatbread was delicious, between the peppers, goat cheese and honey drizzle, the combo of flavors were outstanding together. Yum! I'm saving the best for last, but ironically was the first food served at this meal. The Caesar salad....OMG! By far the best Caesar we had ever had!! The side salad is small, so be warned. In hindsight, we both would have ordered the full size, it was that good!! Their unique combo of traditional Cesar dressing paired with bruschetta tomatoes, croutons, hand grated parm all topped with just the right amount of their house made Balsamic glaze...pure delight!! Its light and refreshing texture was dreamy. We plan to recreate this amazing salad at home, hopefully it's half as good as Capones! It was so delicious that my husband ordered a second side salad for dessert! I, on the other hand, ordered the lemonchello butter cream cake... If you like lemon flavors, this is the dessert to get! Our server, Ashley, was a delight. The Gatsby dressed host who cracked a few jokes was fun. And our bartender even asked how the cocktail was to ensure we were pleased with our order. The good, the bad and the ugly. The good: great bar with a fantastic atmosphere. Really nice place for drinks The bad: since when does a speakeasy have outdoor seating? And why on earth play 70's pop music? Completely destroys the atmosphere The ugly: they don't have a big enough kitchen and apparently very little storage space. If you want a steak you better be here by 4:30 and add your name to the list. The prices are outrageous for the quality. $52 for a 12 ounce NY Strip steak that was over cooked is almost criminal. Prime quality varies and this was grocery store prime at best. Next time I'll go for drinks and grill my own steak at home. The total bill for 2 drinks, and appetizer, a 10 ounce steak and a 12 ounce steak was $175. We've dined at high end steak houses before, had better quality and paid less. For that matter we've had as good of quality with the steaks cooked appropriately at Texas Road House. Did I mention NO PROPER STORAGE SPACE. if your steak isn't done right, good luck getting another one to replace it. The night we were there they all of ONE 10 ounce strip. That was it! Food was awesome. Steaks were as advertised best in in Branson. Our service as great and Dean Martin impersonator did an awesome job of the classics or Sinatra and Bennett besides Martin. This is the third or 4th time we have been there and have never had a bad time or food. read more

We went here because of their reputation for a good steak. My steak was wonderful. My husband ordered his very rare and then explained to the waitress that he really wanted it rare. (Cold in the middle, grey on the outside). We both emphasized how rare he wanted it. The waitress made specific notes on the order. The steak was closer to medium rare and we sent it back. The chef, and owner, Perry came out of the kitchen to explain/argue that it was 64 degrees in the center. He refused to make a new steak for us and complained about wasting a $35 steak (which was priced at $49), and my husband refused to eat the one he cooked. They did not charge us for my husband's side dishes or the steak. Definitely not the dinner we had hoped for. We recommend a conversation with the chef at the time you order. read more

Note to the owners... i miss the old school feel of the the original place. Do me a favor and take a look at your old pictures. Highly recommended. My wife picked Capones for our anniversary dinner, boy did she hit a Home Run! It was a little difficult to find parking, at first. A sign says parking in the back. My advice is look on Google map and it will become apparent where the parking is. The restaurant is in the old Branson Hotel and seating is limited but there are some tables outside. Beth aka Ginger Snap was our sever. She was excellent and back briefed us on Capone's story which we greatly appreciated. The owner Perry is also the chef who grills all of the food outside and we watched him grill outside while we sat in the nicely air conditioned restaurant. And he grills she said in the heat/cold/rain etc. 5 days a week. They have a very good choices of appetizers and speciality drinks. We had the incredible steak with baked potatoes and the hamburger. Both came with an excellent salad. The restaurant decor and maintenance are top notch. As we were leaving I jokingly mentioned to the owner/chef that my wife said his steak was almost as good as the ones I grill (which is a complete lie as his grilling skills far exceed mine and just about anyone I know) he very kindly replied he couldn't argue with that! After we left my wife and I thought about if we have had better grilled food she rated it the best I couldn't either. read more

Capones is a new cellar in dining in Branson. The place is in a strip mall in a golf residential community. Over the past five years, there have probably been 5 other startups in there. From prime rib to pizza. So going in you aren't expecting fine dining. More like a mom and pop operation in a resort. Hold on to your credit card, friends. $35 for a pork chop, $45 for a small sirloin. You'll be in three figures with a prime or filet. I wish I could actually review the food. We waited to order a drink in an almost empty dining room, and nobody came. So we looked at the menu, more specifically, the prices. I wouldn't pay those prices in the best steakhouse in Omaha. I'm not doing so in this dive. The hubs and I got up, thanked the seating host and left. We won't be back. Lest you think I'm just cheap or poor, we've eaten at and entertained family at Big Cedar, Candlestick (gone with the tornado) and Hammons place on the lake. So first night vacationing in Branson, we were on our way to find dinner at the landing when we saw a sign for "Capones Speak Easy". If you are the type of person who enjoys finding hidden gems, this is your place. Five star food! Five star service! Despite being short staffed, the staff (Beth, Shane, and owner Perry) treated us like we were regulars! The first night eating here we ordered a 12 oz steak. (Weight-loss surgery causes us to split regular size meals.) Best steak in Branson, accompanied with a salad and baked potato. The second night, we ordered the burger. It's made from the high quality steak they serve. Best burger I've ever ate! Also, naturally, as a Speak Easy they have drink menu. Beers, wine, and cocktails. We were unable to partake (weight-loss surgery) but ever other patron was ordering cocktails. A testament to Beths bartending. We are so grateful for the gracious service and delicious food! Got to Branson expecting something far different. Took an Uber downtown at 4:30 only to find shops getting ready to close at 5. No cool bars or lounges, lots of shops and restaurants. Remembered the cute building we passed that had Capones on the side and a "happy hour" sign. After walking around a bit we headed to Capones. We are from TN and know the Nashville speak easy's and this isn't like any we've ever been to, but it was nice anyway. We sat outside and enjoyed the wonderful weather and great drinks during happy hour, visiting with the owner, other patrons and the great employees. We came back the next evening for a drink at the bar and dinner and was met with the same great hospitality. We had a steak which was very good. A bit pricy as some have suggested but it's a tourist area and we appreciate that a prime steak isn't cheap. It was tender and cooked perfectly. read more
