I was really excited to try Mr. G's Pizza in Branson since they advertise Chicago-style deep dish. I spent four years in Chicago for undergrad and married a Chicago native, so I've made plenty of trips back and developed a real love for authentic deep dish pizza. Unfortunately, the pizza didn't live up to the deep dish label. While it tasted fine, it lacked the depth and substantial structure that define true Chicago-style deep dish. In fact, we also picked up a Papa John's pizza for our kids the same night, and that pizza was actually thicker than the "deep dish" from Mr. G's (I've included a photo for comparison). I ordered carryout, so I can't really comment on dine-in service, but the staff I interacted with were friendly and pickup was smooth. If you're just looking for pizza in Branson, this may work for you. But if you're specifically hoping for authentic Chicago-style deep dish, you may leave disappointed. read more

Pizza is subjective. [[HIGHLIGHT]]With that in mind this place is extremely popular and very busy considering it doesn't have a premier location and is at the bottom of a very steep hill.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] It definitely has its fans. Unfortunately, we're not among them. We tried both the deep dish Chicago style pizza and the thin crust. Neither crust tasted much better than cardboard. The sauce was bitter and wasn't much more than tomato paste. The cheese was not gooey and just sat there without strings of melted goodness staying attached as you removed a slice from the pie. The deep dish Chicago style wasn't all that deep. The toppings were generous with large slices of pepperoni. Everyone else in the place seems to love their pizza, so it appears it was just us. If your in Branson, I'd still say this is a must try if you've never been and make your own decision. read more

We came to Branson last weekend and on a recommendation from Satirah loves Branson on FB. We absolutely loved it. We ordered the fried raviolis for an appetizer that came out crispy and hot with a great dipping sauce. We ordered the large meat lovers Chicago style pizza didn't leave a single piece. Before I start, I will say the pizza tastes good. I got the BBQ pork but I subbed the chicken on it instead. Service was very quick which is nice. However, this pizza I received was not a deep dish Chicago style like advertised. It's a thin crust pizza made in a deep dish pan. Floppy on the bottom, thin and crispy up the sides. As a thin crust pizza I would rate it very high, but advertising Chicago style and delivering what I received should be a crime! Ambiance was loud, which is expected of a pub. read more

Hubby and I went here today in Branson and had an appetizer and small pizza. We've had the original Mr. G's in Chicago so we were excited to see one here. Not sure if they're connected but the menu items were similar. We ordered toasted raviolis for an appetizer. It had 5 beef and 5 cheese and was served with a thick and warm marinara. They were not skimpy with the filling...nice and stuffed. We ordered a thin small pizza with sausage and pepperoni. As you can tell by the photos, they PILE on the cheese. The outside of the crust was very crispy, just the way we like it. But the middle of the crust was soggy and not quite cooked crispy enough to our liking. That's the only thing that kept them from getting 5 stars. Something in the sauce or perhaps the sausage was a tad spicy...not sure if it was red pepper flakes but it gave you a nice little heat on the back end. Would definitely return. read more

After reading reviews we decided to try Mr. G's. Parking is up the hill or down the hill but not very convenient either way. It sort of feels like you're in Boston or San Francisco walking into a door off the street on a steep hill. This is not a place for wheelchairs or those with walking challenges.
