Amazing authentic Mexican food! Service was good and the vibe in here is very cool! Definitely recommend getting the tacos!!

    I have no words!

Do Not eat here! I ordered last night, 5 asada Tortas They all looked like this. The Very little meat they had were tough and crunchy. Felt like they were taken from a cows hoofs. Price was advertised as 5.99 Also ordered a large bean and rice a medium order of guacamole and a small salsa. I had sent my son to get and pay for the food. I payed with a $100 bill and he came back with no receipt and $17 dollars! Yup grand Total was a whooping $83!! I called to ask for the Manager and they said she was not available. Just went there this morning and she was giving me $35. She was still not paying me back for the Tortas. She said that they are usually 10, and I said "tell me you would pay 10 for this!! So I told her I at least wanted the money back for the Tortas and so she begrudgingly gave me $50 back and I guess I payed $30 for a large bean rice a medium guacamole and a small salsa. This would have been under 20 but she she still kept the rest of my Money. This is just Wrong on so many levels.

Best Mexican food in hot springs 100% authentic Mexican food and Amazing store found everything I needed here

Yo entré en la puerta, y me sentí como si estuviera en México! Short story, the food is awesome, serving sizes are impressive, and the prices are excellent ($1.50/taco, $6 for a HUGE torta). Your meal comes with complimentary chips, and both classic salsa (on the spicy side) and salsa verde (green salsa) that all of us liked better! But! Heads-up, the menus are in Spanish, and the staff don't all speak very good English. They know that, and they try very hard to make sure it doesn't get in the way. If your Spanish is passable (or you want to practice) this is the place for you! If you don't speak a word of Spanish though, never fear, they'll help you through it. If you don't want to/can't deal with that, this is almost certainly not the place for you - but if you can deal with it, I recommend trying it anyway :) Long story- YES! A place that feels like a slice of another country! If it's what you're looking for, every inch of this place from the second you step in the door feels like it was lifted straight out of central america- the colors, the smells, the foods in the market, the drinks. It doesn't feel like a restaurant that serves Mexican food, it feels like you're actually vacationing in Mexico for your meal, right down to the Spanish TV! A group of us were walking back to our car from the Derby at Oaklawn, and we were really hungry and wanted to eat before the long drive back to Little Rock. And we were in the mood for a little spice. The entrance to La Huazteca had us confused, because it's a big steel building with three doors - one goes to a pinata store, the other goes to a small grocery market (mmm, chilis!) and the third goes into a restaurant. BUT, what you find when you go into any of them, is that all of the doors connect to the same space(s), so go in whichever feels right! We walked in (the middle, market door) passed by the dried chilis, the fresh chilis, the fresh vegetables that I still don't know the name of (but I know they're delicious!), the cooler full of Mexican sodas, and sat at a table by the window. A wonderful lady came by moments after we'd been seated with menus - and a translator. Turns out she didn't speak a word of English, so she asked her coworker to translate. When my wife (whose Spanish is excellent) ordered in Spanish, or server was so, so excited! Her face lit up, and she couldn't wait to speak to us. We quickly established that they were out of Carnitas, but had plenty of the other fillings. My wife and I split a plate of Tacos (5 for around $7), while our friend had a torta (a sandwich -which, it turned out, was HUGE and delicious!) and a house-made horchata (sweet rice-water, she said this one had some pineapple in it, just a heads-up) Our server was super sweet, very prompt in getting us anything we asked for, and was very attentive making sure things were filled as needed - all without hovering. At the end of our meal, we, completely stuffed, paid at the front register, trundled out the door and on our way. And it was exactly the meal we'd needed!

The Kids "Hamburger". Looks suspiciously like White Castle microwaveable burgers. Even has the holes in the meat.

Where to begin? I always say I'm going to leave a review of a place when it sucks and I never have until now. Just created a Yelp account to try and save others from making the mistake of eating at this place. We moved here from Phoenix, AZ about a year and a half ago and admittedly do have pretty high standards when it comes to Mexican food. With that said, I have NO IDEA how this place has this many good reviews. We walked into the store/restaurant and sat down at a sticky table. The waitress brought the menus and since it was a new place I ordered the chicken fajitas, always good to see all the ingredients first time at a place. My wife ordered Chilaquiles. The kids (5 +6) ordered off the kids menu, Hamburger and a Corn Dog. We snacked on extremely stale chips until the food came out, at which point she delivered my daughters "hamburger", 2 white castle cheeseburgers that were microwaved. I know this - I eat them often. My other daughter's corndog was a quality lower than Bar-S corndogs. My fajitas - bland and rubbery. My wifes Chilaquiles, bland, soggy, eggs overcooked, no runny yolk at all. Not to question other reviewers taste here, but there was nothing made from scratch that we got. To make it worse, I asked the waitress if the burgers were White Castle burgers and she said: "honestly, I have no idea". Really???? I can't find one redeeming quality of that meal. I put a picture of the burgers in the pics too.

    Delicious !

Wife and I went here for Taco Tuesday at the recommendation of several friends. I'm glad we did…read more Nice, roomy place, full bar available, plenty of seating too. They brought the obligatory chips and salsa to start . The salsa was good! The chips? Not so much. Wife ordered shrimp tacos (with rice and refried beans). I ordered ground beef tacos (with rice and refried rice beans. Wife really liked her tacos. Two huge tacos stuffed and good sized shrimp tails on them. She said she'd order them again. I was "so-so" on my beef tacos. They were huge but there was something about them that has me debating if I would order them again. I might go with the chimichanga next time. To be honest, I'm a Texan and it's been a chore finding anything to compare with Tex-Mex . This has been one of two that might come close. So I'd encourage anyone to try this place. I will stress CAUTION though. 1) If you use the side entrance from the parking lot. Be VERY CAREFUL!! There a 2 step downs at the door to enter the place. If it's sunny outside, you will have to adjust your vision quickly to the darker inside and trip over can easily happen. 2) the restrooms are in B a very narrow hallway and the doors are heavy and spring loaded. If you are like me, with a disability, it may be a challenge navigating all that so be prepared. Having someone assist you might be a good call. Have a great day!!!

Taco Mama - The Tamale Tip That Paid Off…read more We were midway through an early dinner at Cafe 1217 when a local picking up takeout struck up a conversation and started passionately recommending Taco Mama next door. Specifically, the tamales. You could tell this wasn't casual advice, this was a mission. So, naturally, we listened. On our way out of town toward Texas, we grabbed half a dozen to-go, planning to turn them into a road trip breakfast with friends. Risky? Maybe. Worth it? Absolutely. Big hit. The masa was just right, great texture, good flavor, holding everything together without stealing the show. The sauces were outstanding, especially the red one, which brought a solid kick without overwhelming things. By the next morning, we looked like heroes. If you're in Hot Springs and craving Mexican food, this is your stop. Friendly service, a colorful, lively setting, and a patio if you want a little fresh air with your meal. And if a local tells you what to order... trust them.

We found Colorado Grill and feel like we are in heaven. I had the lunch combo with soup and fajita taco. I had the Aztec soup which takes chicken soup to a whole other level. The chicken was cooked perfectly, still tender, grilled, combined with slightly crispy perfect fajita veggies - sweet peppers, onions, zucchini! My hubby had the lunch combo with a taco, cheese & onion enchilada, and tamale. He wasn't thrilled with the tamale, but the ground beef in the taco was seasoned just right, and the cheese and onion enchilada was wonderful. Oh, and the salsa? A red chunky salsa with a slow-hitting heat at just the perfect level (about medium). Our server was Zelta, and she was delightful. The atmosphere mimics the name - Colorado Grill, and the food definitely Tex-Mex style. We will definitely be back!!

We got there at 5 and we basically the only table (4 people) in the main area. Ordered margaritas and guacamole, chips and salsa. None of those items arrived until 5:30. Ordered tacos and additional drinks which didn't arrive until after 6pm. When the food came it was incorrect and missing tacos for two of our guests around 6:45. When the bill came at 7 it was wrong in all kinds of ways. It took our waiter a very long time to correct and it was still wrong. At that point we decided to cut our losses and just pay it and depart. Something has changed. The food that came out was good. But the service and organization was the worst we've seen. Also. In visiting the restroom it appeared it hadn't been cleaned in months and months. The mold build up on the grout was terrible. (Photo included) I'm so hopeful things will change back and service, cleanliness and staffing will improve because this has always been my favorite place.

Lots of people don't like that they charge for chips and sals, but their location makes it tempting to grab a drink and free apps and then eat dinner somewhere else. They have to pay staff and cover food costs too. My recommendation is the margarita flight-tropical, peach, jalapeño, and watermelon.
