TL;DR: 6/5 stars, Marcus was easily the highest value contract we had for our wedding! He's an incredible singer, guitar player, and DJ all in one, but most importantly he's someone you can TRUST on your wedding day to have a plan, show up prepared and on time, take care of himself, and solve any problem on the fly without needing someone to direct him (while always asking for input from the couple when appropriate!). Full review: I really wanted some live music at our wedding, and Marcus played guitar and sang through our cocktail hour and dinner, and man, what a voice. We got so many compliments from our guests about his singing and playing. He's really an exceptional singer live and it provided a wonderful atmosphere to our wedding. But again he's also a stellar DJ. We gave him a rather lengthy playlist that he used to get our vibe and build off of and our dance floor was pumping the whole night (and he didn't play a single song we didn't like). We had so much fun with him at the helm and I wouldn't change a thing. He was also responsive throughout the wedding planning process, any songs we wanted to run by him or schedules or questions we had, he was happy to talk about via email or call, which helped build our trust in him to keep things running smoothly on our wedding day. Most impressive and most important was how self-reliant Marcus was on our actual wedding day. We didn't have to direct him or correct him in any way, he set up all his own gear, found the best spots to set up, and coordinated seamlessly with our day of coordinator so that we didn't have to worry about anything. We were able to trust him fully and I can't say how much of a relief that was to not have to worry about something as important as the music at our wedding (and I'm a big music guy). The guy is also a problem solver (again, more reasons to trust in him!). For example, our wedding party walked down the aisle too slowly, so our carefully timed song ended too soon. But Marcus seamlessly looped the track to extend it to the appropriate length, super impressive on the fly and after we gave him poor directions (we should have given a longer song, or timed it out better, but he fixed it for us!). Hiring Marcus to be our DJ/live performer/emcee was easily the best decision we made in our wedding planning process. He is so incredibly talented and provided so much support for us both on our wedding day and before. We're forever grateful. When I was planning our wedding, I hadn't even considered the idea of live music. We worked with Marcus for our June 14, 2015 wedding and we were totally blown away with how wonderful he was - he exceeded our expectations in absolutely every way possible. I originally contacted Marcus spring of 2014 to have him do a surprise performance for my proposal to my then girlfriend. He did such a great job following my exact instructions (where to be, what time to be there, when do start playing, etc) and singing his own rendition of the song I requested of him to sing that I asked him to perform at our wedding this past week. Marcus is really such a great guy and an absolute pleasure to work with. For our wedding, Marcus showed up at least a hour earlier than the time he was supposed to so he could do sound check and get setup. He was supposed to only play for our cocktail hour, but he saw people congregating in the area before the ceremony, he took it upon himself to sing and play to keep our guests entertained. That is the definition of above and beyond in our book. When it came time to perform during our cocktail hour, he was truly awesome. Our guests enjoyed his performance and he sang the songs that we requested without a hitch. The only issue was that my wife and I wished we could have just enjoyed his performance without having to do our rounds with our guests, but duty calls.
