Man this place has gone down, before you could get one or two good things but now it's zero. One of their display cases is down so there's less of a variety of things. I opted for the giant m&m cookie, it was a dry crumbly Italian type of shortbread cookie super thick with just m&ms as decor on top. They shouldn't even call it an m&m cookie bc you can literally count the m&ms. I also got the vanilla creme stuffed donut with powdered sugar on top, I took a bite and threw it out, it didn't even make it home bc the powder sugar had crystallized on top so it felt old, I didn't want to risk getting sick from bad creme. And then I also got a coconut donut which looked amazing but it was also old, I've attached picture so you guys can see, a super dry donut. Idk if they're just not selling enough but giving clients old goods is just losing clientele. This bakery is a complete joke. I attempted to buy the same cake I bought last year for my Mom and they quoted double what I paid. The staff isn't on the same page with the prices, each girl quotes a different price for everything. I used to get coffee all the time but now it never tastes the same. It all depends on who's making it. Ordered my Mom a cake, I hate the trimming and they don't even have boxes that fit cakes WITH trimmings. How do you give me a box with the lid open, Saran wrapped and stapled??? They have no bags, I couldn't even carry the cake with the strings that they usually wrap around. Look at the pictures. I may never be back because I really don't like how far Bronx is from civilization but this bakery is really something special. The strawberries on the cake was sweet and fresh. Didn't taste old or gross at all. Everything seemed like it was prepared carefully and with lots of pride. It's a small tiny spot with almost zero seating but it's really good. Nice addition to the HUB. Colorful window display with great creative fondant cake designs. The place is clean, bright and welcoming. The staff could be a lil more attentive. It's kinda like they know they've got what you want so they know you'll wait even plead for attention. (I've been 3 times and each time was the same, so no I'm not being harsh). My specifics: - the Red Velvet is a go. Soft, smooth texture. Great taste and cream cheese frosting. Yes. - the Cheese Danish. Nice amount of cheese yet the pastry part is entirely too dry - Chocolate Covered Strawberries. Sweet and Yum - the Strawberry Shortcake. The cake soft and delightful yet that Jelly I cannot take. I wish it wasn't a thing but I'm assuming it sells and ppl like it as it is a constant on most cakes/ cupcakes and pastries here that have strawberries on or in them. I am really trying to be nice with this review, but honestly this bakery is absolutely the worst. Please do not let anyone tell you any different. Everytime I come here someone is arguing about their cake being messed up. I have had nothing but terrible experiences here buying cakes. My cake is never what i ordered. They basically do whatever they want and make you pay for such poor quality. Also do not get black icing ! They use cheap quality products and it will stain you terribly !!' It took days to come off of everyone. Their customer service is terrible too ! They make a mistake and give you a hard time about changing it. Plus the cakes are always dry and lack flavor. I hate it and i really always try to give them the benefit of the doubt. Please do not waste your money. This has become the worst cake store. They're too small, 1 to many workers, the cakes are no longer fresh, and what you order you no longer get no matter what they placed on the receipt paper they still seem to manage to mess up my whole $200 order on the day of my daughters birthday. Also must mention that they don't have anyone who knows how to write artistically on a cake, the writing on mine looked like a third grader scribble scrabbled it...After my event, I went back to the shop showing them a picture of the cake with a measuring tape over it. The photo revealed that the diameter was 10 inches. The coughing, sneezing worker insisted that in THEIR measuring system a diameter of 10 inches somehow means 12 inches so no refund. My friend had a custom made strawberry shortcake from here that was simply delicious! Fresh strawberries galore on top AND inside! It was so good and I'd ranted about it so much, I made a special trip to the bakery the next day to purchase a smaller version with my two friends. Boy, what a disappointment! The icing was not the fluffy, great tasting version that I had the day before. It was the usual, hard, standard icing on all bakery cakes and it was not spread generously throughout the layers as with the other cake. There were no fresh strawberries in between the layers either! I was so disappointed to find the usual, canned, strawberry filing that all bakeries use. Yuck! Honestly, I tossed the cake. We each ate about 1/3 of a slice and agreed that it wasn't worth the calories. If you're going to "blow your diet", the dessert has to be worth it! I must admit, they do make gorgeous looking custom cakes. I can't vouch for the taste though. I figure since they're not massed produced, those must be the ones that taste the best. I would definitely give them a try when I need a customized cake, I just won't be buying anything ready made out of the display case. read more

Cakes are amazing here! This is near a very busy intersection, but even then, you can't miss the bright lights and the festive cakes in the display window. When you walk in, you will be greeted by the friendly staff who can guide you to your favorite cake. I know of Capri because I would frequent their East Harlem location during my grad school days, and knew the bright sign on the outside looked familiar when I strolled past it while in the Bronx. I stopped in one day to grab some treats for a staff meeting and was overwhelmed, in a good way, with the selection of goodies they had. There was literally something for everyone: cakes, small tarts, donuts, cookies, croissants, everything! I decided to grab a bunch of my favorite sugar covered donuts that only taste right coming from a Dominican bakery in my opinion. Although there was some confusion at first with the cashier because of a language barrier, someone else quickly came over and helped. Best of all, everyone at work LOVED the donuts. We spent $40 trying a few thing's and we were not happy. The cupcakes have a weird after taste. Macaroon were not good especially the yellow lemon one. The guava filled pastry is my husband's favorite but he was disappointed after he took one bite. The coconut doughnut wasn't that bad it was soft and fluffy but very sweet. This is a long review but please read. The last two times I went to this bakery I received the worst customer service. I ordered something that cost $1.25 and attempted to give the sales person a $20. She said to me this is all you're getting and I said yes. She said I don't have change before I could respond she went directly to the next person behind me and did not look my way again. A guy sitting down offered me change for the $20. She dealt with every single person before coming back to me so I could pay for my item. The time before that I ordered a custom cake that was a replica of a Tiffany's box. When I placed the order they told me they would charge me extra because they had to make the bow out of fondant. I was fine with that and paid for it. When I went to get the cake it was so messy. They used cream to keep the bow in place but the cream was everywhere. It also looked like they got red cream on the bow and tried to clean it off so there was red amusing on the bow. I sent them a photo of the cake where the writing should be placed and it was placed in the total opposite direction. When I pointed these things out and said I was satisfied and asked if they could clean the bow up at least they gave me a hard time. Another employee who was eating at the bar chimed in speaking in Spanish loudly. She basically said they did me a favor by using fondant to make the bow meanwhile I paid for the bow and my receipt started that. They attempted cover the mess with a diamond that one of the sales people could not get to stay in place. She dirtied the diamond with cream and used her bare hands to put it on. She finally took the cake in the back so the baker could clean the bow up. I could also hear him in the back talking loud and in Spanish. They did not offer any sort of discount for the messy cake. They use to put effort into their orders and service but have completely stopped. Or just decide who they want to give good service to. I will never go back! read more

Have made many of the treats from this bakery but the best is their cheesecake! All of the birthday celebrations at work require a cake from here. They are also reasonably priced (the large cheesecake costs $35.00). They take debit card too! They also usually can write the name on the cake or at the very least add a small happy birthday sign. read more

The customer service at both locations is extremely poor. 149th in the Bx & 116th Street in harlem I went to 149th and begged to have a cake made that is displayed on their IG. I walked in to inquire and request a price quote. I asked for the cake to be in butter cream (all my cakes from them was always butter cream) The store called the baker and he said he could do it. Two weeks later I attempt to order the cake and was now told it had to be in whip cream only. Which I found odd because my previous cake the year before was all butter cream. I asked to speak w the owner. She (Nancy) then said, butter cream is no longer an option they offer due to the current to supply & demand even when I offered to pay extra to have the cake done in all butter cream. Nancy said she no longer stocks enough butter cream. I then asked if the 116th location would make the cake, Nancy told me she didn't know, that it was different management. I go to 116th & request the same cake, I was told the cake can only be done in whip cream when I asked why I was told because the baker could not put color in butter cream. Now Ive been ordering cakes my entire life on butter cream, I knew that was a lie. I then showed them the cake from the previous year, done in all butter cream....the proceeded to tell me I was lying. I begged to speak to the baker and waited thirty minutes. I was told they were too busy to come speak w/ me. Then I was told the cake could be done in butter cream but it had to be in white (no color) At this point I said okay because I was desperate and running out of time. How am I supposed to tell my 10 year old she couldn't have the cake she picked out herself??!! So I said I'll take the cake in butter cream if you would do the flowers in a color/whip cream. The employee called the baker, and said he then said no. But you just told me I could have the cake in all white/butter cream! Then I was told if 149th couldn't do it, that they couldn't I said I was told you were different owners?. Well, I was told Nancy is the wife of the owner to this location So besides both locations saying yes....then double back and saying no, now Nancy the wife lied to me about owner/management w/ the locations. So she waisted my time, I was called a liar and got the run around on both locations about the cake. Both locations are in highly populated latino neighborhoods, the employees speak english but there is a language barrier not to mention a lack of customer service manners. I can't help but to wonder If I was latina and/or could speak Spanish that they would have been a bit more understanding and sensitive to my order. Now I have to explain to my 10 year old why she can't have the cake she picked out herself for her bday party. read more

I'n the one who created the entry on Yelp, so I'll take the I notice to actually write a review. This makes about three weeks since it opened. To all South Bronx and Harlem residents to whom this make sound familiar, that's probably because you recognize them from their flagship location on 116th and Third, in the heart of El Barrio. I ordered the guava and cheese pastry, which I didn't get two blocks with before it was devoted. Just like its East Harlem location, there is something for everyone here. Wait--let me rephrase that--there's more than something, as this location appears to be bigger and even more extensive than the original (still going strong, by the way.) The cakes, colorful macaroons (yes, the French pastel bites of goodness are sold fresh here), flans, and other offerings make it extremely hard to choose just one. It's difficult to come in here without overindulging but I told myself I'd order just one item. The neighborhood, many of whom are already familiar with the brand, have already embraced this new location, which is just the perfect addition to a still-heavily Puerto Rican community. Bonus: they sell pan Mallorca, a special bread/pastry native to its namesake region of Spain. Is that reason enough alone to go? So, come on--get your morning coffee with a little something sweet on the side. read more

All there pastries, dessert, sandwiches, drinks and cakes are AMAZZZING and TASTY!!! I work across the street and I can't help to stop by almost everyday to have there Pastelitos regenos(stuffed mini patties), there so DELICIOUS and lite. Came in Saturday to buy a cake for my dad's birthday on Sunday. Decided to get the small red velvet - reasonably priced at $15. It was a hit! The cake tasted yummy and the frosting was a yummy buttercream. My dad loved it! We cut it into 8 pieces (half, half again, then half of the halves). 1/8 is more than enough for one person!
