They had no record of my order. I walked out with somebody else's order of two sheet cakes. The chef at my wedding spot made a wedding cake on the spot out of the two sheet cakes. When I said "cake man raven" in response to the question of what happened, she just said "ahh.." and nodded, no other explanation necessary. She was a cake man raven vet apparently. The wedding guests devoured the cake. The entire wedding went silent with people heads down eating every crumb of that cake. So many people said it was some of the best cake they have had. Do I bring this high stakes wedding cake story up to cake man raven when I drive to Harem from Brooklyn after exchanging text messages for an order? No, I don't bring it up. I'm just happy the man eventually brings the cake. Enjoy the cake, don't expect change (or plan your wedding with this cake) and you will be ok. Play it cool and show up somewhere with a cake man raven cake where they don't know the deal, then watch them fall in love with the cake and attempt to reproduce your feat of procuring a cake man raven cake. The cake was actually good. I purchased the red velvet. I'm giving 3 stars for the consistency of the business hours and customer service, one day they'll be open and you can receive the order form though text and the next they'll be closed with no response through text with no prior warning. I've been back twice since I first purchased my slices and no one was there just a sign on the window saying we're closed today. So travel there at your own risk. read more

Cake Man raven is known for their red velvet cake so I had to try it as that is one of my favorite desserts. Do take note that they do not currently have a seating area. It is strictly takeout. Now, the cake itself was incredibly moist and very good. However, the cream cheese fondant was way too cloyingly sweet for my liking. If instead of the fondant, cream cheese by itself, was actually used, the cake would have been perfect in my honest opinion. I would be up for trying their other cake slices. read more

I've walked past Cake Man Raven's spot on 135th countless times but have always been confused as to whether I can just walk in and grab a slice. You can't walk into the shop as there isn't any area for customers and it seems like the door is usually locked. Today I finally attempted to actually acquire some cake because I saw someone at the counter through the window. The signs outside the bakery are confusing because they state that slices are only available on select days via social media drops but it doesn't seem like that's the case anymore. When I went to grab a slice there were quite a few whole cakes available as well as slices of red velvet, red velvet with nuts, chocolate, carrot, etc. Since it was my first time here, I had to go for a slice of the infamous red velvet cake. I was really eager to try this slice and somehow had the patience to wait until I got home to try it. Cake Man Raven has apparently baked cakes for the likes of Oprah and Jay Z so my expectations were high. The slice was large with three layers of cakes frosted with thin layers of cream cheese frosting. The cake was soft and the frosting had just the right amount of sweetness & tang. I've had many slices in New York and while it was great, I can't say this was my absolute favorite. I was not aware this was the new location for the king of red velvet cakes and I'm glad I happened upon it one day. Reason being I love desserts and this is the place to get dessert (cake). The only drawback for me is that the icing/frosting is a bit too sweet for my liking though it's supposed to balance out with the cake dough. Told them I wanted to order myself a slice for my bday and if they had any slice available. They were very fast to reply and told me I could pickup. So i payed via Venmo and sent them my confirmation (also VERY cool to see that they're keeping up with safety regulations and looking out for their customers health and safety). I began my cake ordering Journey with CakeManRaven on May 22nd, 2022. I needed the cake for June 10th for my birthday. Through text I was told May 22nd wasn't too late to order for June 10th. All I can say is I was being played with and my time was wasted attempting to order a cake. They always say: "It's Hard to Support Black Owned Businesses". & CakeManRaven proved the stereotype!
