Every time I get my hair colored I find very sweet, ambitious, energetic, and accommodating students and coaches. They spend a lot of time with you to ascertain what you want. They also make suggestions. The students take their time with you. The coaches are always available to assist the students. Hence, I never fear they will make a horrendous mistake. I've never been disappointed. The prices are really good. They charge half what other colorists charge and use a top-of-the-line color to bat. I have lived near the school for decades and hesitated going where they are being trained. I was so wrong! I had a color, glaze, cut and blow and it is beautifully done. They really take the time to listen to your needs - actually more than the expensive places I have gone to. As a prior student, I can say the only good thing I got out of school was friendships. A f***ing waste of money. Coaches are disrespectful, rude and unprofessional. Some of these coaches are not meant to teach. Outdated spa & things that need maintenance. The coaches also never stand on their word. They tell you something and then go back on it which is just weird. This is the most unprofessional school I've been to. A joke honestly. I booked an appointment for a haircut and color 2 1/2 weeks ago. I was able to get in for a haircut Wednesday so it would be easier to just have the student do highlights today. Before I left everything was confirmed for 11 an today, at 9:30 I received a call that they wouldn't have enough time today due to them having to take their boards. I asked why I wasn't told last week as I know you are aware when the boards are taken, she had no answer. I was told I could be put in a waitlist and I said ok but it has to be for this week since I am off of work and they need a few hours to do color etc. I was told only if there was a cancel. this school has completely disappointed my child and I. the teachers and staff made the facility feel welcoming and safe at first,which is it not. From suffering from hyperglycemia she was not accommodated; when she felt too cold and uncomfortable her complaints were left ignored. she later got attacked by another student in the parking lot and their excuse was it wasn't their responsibility or liability. they furthered to bully and harass her for sticking up and doing right by the students telling her that gods morals are not allowed on the grounds of Capri. read more

I am very disappointed with this schools values.. this school is more of a system and a scam trying to get people in the door for their money and once they're in the door they truly show no respect or empathy to their students nor do they value their clientele. When students try to speak up and voice their opinions they shut them down immediately which is not the correct way to treat anyone but especially not students in an educational environment. They're consistency of policy is absolutely awful. Every coach says something different to every student everyday.. which just gets confusing. I got a facial here today and Gabrielle did absolutely amazing. Erin the store manager is such a sweetheart as well as to why I came to Capri in the first place. Although, the lady who works at the reception desk is the most disgusting human being I have ever met in my life. She was so rude and didn't know how to greet customers properly. When I paid, she basically threw my card back at me. It's fine to have a rough day, but when it comes to work you put all that aside because that's what professionalism is. Honestly, Capri better get rid of this woman or they'll easily start losing customers because of her. read more

Huge Disappointment if you're an adult. They treat you like a 10 year old. Sending students home if there a minute late. Sending students home if they come back a minute late from a break. Horrible way to treat adults that are "PAYING" them to attend. This is supposed to be a fun and exciting experience. The staff totally ruins it. My girlfriend was once a student. She started the night school classes as happy as one can be to learn a new trade. Within a few months I noticed she was no longer smiling...no longer coming home happy. She finally stressed to me that the teachers have her on edge. She often races through traffic, fearing to be sent home if she arrives late. What kind of place is this. They need to check themselves. This is night school which means most of the students have a job or possibly a child. They will lose students faster then they can obtain them with these rules. Any time I have gotten a service done at either school location, I've had a wonderful experience! You are going to a school, and need to remember that. So it will take a little longer than your regular salon/spa services. But the quality is still amazing. Any time I have gone, I have always met some of the nicest students and teachers. I recently graduated from the Esthetics program at Capri's Nanuet campus. I am SO happy about my decision to attend Capri! The facility is beautiful, the curriculum was tough but I really learned a lot, the coaches (teachers) were so amazingly supportive, and the Director and the rest of the staff did everything they could to make my experience the best it could be. This is the worst "school" I've ever been too. It's such a joke, I'm so upset that I wasted my time and money towards this school. The only thing good about it is "some" of the teachers. The director is terrible, she don't listen and plays favorite. They don't have proper graduation for the students after we pay them all our money. They make you pay $14 per hour for any hours that you have to make up, but they don't think that people have kids, jobs, outside lives out of school. So being there 9-5 everyday is not a struggle enough. They go through the courses like flash and don't give students enough time to actually learn anything. Sometimes there's nothing to do and you're just bored. It's not supposed to be like that honestly. I feel like $10,000 for 4 months is too much especially with what we get in return. The spa is dirty, especially the bathrooms, the shower is nasty. The spa curtains are dirty and only gets cleaned once every 3 months. They expect. The students to do everything for them but then don't even give recognition for their hard work. The director only cares about the cosmetology students, there are always job posting for cosmetology but never for skin, that's just bogus. Don't even waste your time coming here honestly. I don't know how the cosmetology program is but the esthetics program is trash. read more

Beautiful job! I went for a full head highlights, cut and blow dry, and I am super happy with the results. The student who did my hair was friendly, knowledgeable and professional. She requested frequent input from the teacher, and the teacher liked her work also. When you go, you should expect it to take a little longer than in a regular salon, because of these teacher-student interactions. But it is totally worth it, because it cost less than a third of regular salons. The savings really add up. I advise you to ask them to use your phone to take photos from the 4 angles, so you can show them next time you go. read more

As a student I honestly didn't have a good experience. You are literally there just to make up your hours. And yes I agree you don't become a professional in a few months but while being there it would have been great to have more classes, learn more about techniques, and learn more about products. I wasted an extra 200 hrs at school bc I was told the school will give you the option if you'd like to get licensed in NJ. I took that opportunity since I live so close to NJ. I felt like I was used for another 200 hours (almost an extra 2 months). Never got my NJ license. After so many calls to the state and to the school I just gave up and ended up paying extra money to go to a NJ school. I ended up getting my license from another school and wished they never wasted my time there. They gave so many students hope for no reason. Please don't bother if they offer you hours for NJ. My experience in capri cosmetology as a student was the best!!! I went to see empire cosmetology in peekskill ny, and lets just say it wasn't the best it looked so unorganized, and the students looked like they were just doing what they wanted. Not what I was looking for. When I went to capri the teachers greeted me with open arms and you can just tell the warmness in their hearts and the passion they had for their job and it doesn't get any better than that. I've lived in Pearl River for 30 years and hadn't tried here until 2 years ago. I wish I had known about it for all these years. They are students but because of the instructors constant supervision you get a great hair cut and color. The pricing is insane just came back and $39 for what I would have paid $150 for at any salon. Only thing you have to have is good amount of time but it is well worth it! read more

I am currently finishing up the cosmetology course in Capri to get licensed in NY and NJ. Capri is an excellent institution that not only teaches us how to pass the state board exams, but how to excel and become great cosmetologists. They teach many extra classes than most schools such as the business program and hands on training. The teachers are extremely dedicated and have a love for what they do, instilling in each student the joy and excitement of the work we do each day. Capri has been extremely accommodating with any hours that I had to miss and make up and has made my schooling a truly enjoyable and fun experience. Terrible Pay and really low morale amongst employees! High turn over rate and employees that have been there for years will not get a raise. Management is incompetent and do not have managerial experience. The curriculum being taught is terrible and disorganized. I feel bad for the students as they feel they are not getting the training they expected. Many feel like they are just another tuition payment for the school. As an instructor for many years I've never seen the curriculum taught in such a way that clinic level students do not know how to perform beginner level tasks. I attended and graduated from this school a few years ago. Although there were other schools I considered, I chose this one only because I didn't want to commute into the city every day. Bad decision! The school is money hungry and one of it's top priorities is to make as much money off each student as possible. I was belittled and picked on almost every day by teachers there. Told I wasn't wearing enough makeup therefore didn't look professional, is just one of the many insults I had to endure. I was sent home for the day many times for walking in a minute late (literally) even though I was coming all the way from CT and had to fight major bridge traffic. Each day they sent me home I lost a whole day of school hours. Hours I was then billed for to make up or not graduate. This school takes advantage of students and I'm so sorry they got my time or money. Despite their low expectations for me, I know have a successful career in TV, doing hair and makeup for a big news channel. I cannot stress how disappointed I was with my experience there. I attended the cosmetology program in Newburgh recently this year and went part time. When first applying to the school everyone seemed very friendly and it was a close commute to where i live. Shortly after starting the program, i soon realized i was very wrong. The school is nothing more then to make money off there students. None of the teachers were ever on the same page and did not have the proper training on all the subjects they were teaching. Also it was completely understaffed, there was never enough time to get around to all the students. Furthermore, the teachers would leave the room for 20 minutes or longer leaving us by ourselves.They also acted very unprofessional and talked about many of the students behind there back. I learned more from my fellow students then i did from the teachers we had. The only thing they taught you had to do was sell there products to your clients. Lastly, i have never been to school more unorganized in my entire life! There was no schedule, and it was always a guessing game on what you were going to do that day. I brought these concerns up to our director many times and nothing ever got resolved. After dealing with it for about 5 months I decided to unregister and sadly lost out on $5000. I would not recommend this school to anyone! read more
