May sound like I'm bragging, and yes, I am :-) I've been fortunate to be Elena's client for many years and I always leave salon with a happy smile, looking and feeling younger and more beautiful. Today I had another happy visit. I asked for something we did last year, but instead Elena offered a new colouring technique - and OMG, it looks fantastic! I'm often complimented on my hair style and color and it really looks great. I visit salon every 8 weeks and the style and colour look beautiful even 8 weeks later, which I attribute to great products they use and Elena's professionalism. Once I had to reschedule my appointment and instead of 8 weeks it was 11. The color still looked great, which I find pretty amazing. Important tip: always book in advance, as they are very popular (and thus very busy) - especially if you need an evening or Saturday time, and especially around Holidays. I can only come evenings, so I usually book several appointments in advance so that I don't have to worry about it for a few months. If you don't like to book in advance and prefer casual walk-in, this place is probably not for you. The atmosphere in the salon is very nice and friendly. They offer you tea or coffee while you are waiting for color to set. You can also do your nails while you are waiting. When I finally had an opportunity to see Ryan Oakley, lead stylist and owner of Black Sheep Hair, he demonstrated compassion and understanding that so many stylist simply omit when helping a client break out of bad hair care routines. I would blow dry my hair everyday for only four minutes with a flat brush which eventually took away the shine, fullness and health of my hair. Ryan's talent at cutting and putting me at ease to stop trying so hard to go against my natural waves cannot be overstated. He helped me stop using so many products and suggest that I only need to wash my hair once a week or as required depending on the climate. When I left the salon the weekend of Pride, many people inquired where I get my hair services done and for the first time in a few years, I actually started to like my hair again. As expected, Ryan suggested that I could come by to see how my hair would evolve without the blow dry and the results were quite evident as he did promise that my hair would improve as time goes on.
