This was my first Capriotti visit and this is one of their most popular sandwiches, even voted by someone as America's greatest sandwich. It was a dense and very good sandwich, like a Thanksgiving leftover meal. In fact, it was created as a Thanksgiving leftover meal by Aunt Bobbie, and featured in the first Capriotti restaurant in Wilmington, DE. This looks like a solid sandwich shop with subs, cheesesteaks, and salads. They have about a half dozen tables lined up inside, and more shared seating outside. The dressing and cranberry sauce is very good. The dryness begs for gravy. I wrongly assumed it was included. $19 for a medium sub with no drink or side is a little pricey. This place deserves a better rating than 3.7, it should be in the 4s somewhere. My husband and I have struggled to find a great sandwich place in Sarasota/Bradenton. We've tried several restaurants and specialty sandwich shops, most have been at best "meh" and we never go back. (Honestly, one of the local grocery store's sandwich station beats most every other local sandwich place we've tried, just by using simple, wholesome ingredients. Makes you wonder what restaurants are using....) Today we ordered from here and ... finally! A pretty darn good, tasty, filling sandwich. We'll be back at some point for sure, as we both enjoyed our lunch. He got the medium-sized turkey sandwich with added bacon and I got the tuna, both were filling and provided enough for lunch + leftovers. As I've mentioned in other cheesesteak reviews, I grew up in So Philly, I've actually worked the grill at Del's Steaks and I know a great cheesesteak. This place is good but not great. I used to go to Capriotti's in Wilmington, Newark DE and Pennsylvania. They were always Great ! I suspect that with the rapid expansion of the franchise, they have fallen off. The rolls are ok but not great. There's a decent amount of meat but not quite enough. The meat can be a bit too chunky and slightly overcooked. I feel the same way about the Hoagies, Good but not great. The service is always excellent. It is very clean. There's not a lot of seating area. I'm sure I will stop in from time to time but it's not a go to spot. I hope they step it up a bit. read more

My husband loved his sandwich. I tried to see if subs could be made into a wrap and I was told no wraps but they have lettuce. It sounded like it would be wrapped in lettuce to make a handheld. No, the club meat and cheese was on a bed of shredded lettuce. (so basically a salad). Ordered two sandwiches- loved the multiple size options for sandwiches. Allows lots of flexibility. We ordered one "Bobbie" -- "Voted "The Greatest Sandwich in America" for a reason. If you haven't tried a Bobbie® yet, get ready for slow-roasted turkey topped with cranberry sauce, handmade stuffing and mayo. It's a sandwich you'll be thankful for." The other was "Chicken Parm the Cap's way". Grilled chicken with onions, mushrooms, sweet peppers, provolone cheese and topped with marinara and Romano cheese. Interestingly the most disappointing aspect of both was the bread. Too doughy, not crusty and the ratio of contents to dough was off. According to the website, "Capriotti's enlisted Great Buns Bakery as a vendor in 2010, and now, they supply all the Italian rolls our beloved sandwiches are made on. To meet this demand and keep the bread fresh as it's shipped nationwide, they invested in specialized equipment." They should try Arthur Ave instead. The concept of the Bobbie is great. The flavors are terrific and the turkey clearly roasted. But the very tasty stuffing was laid on top rather than across the roll, so if you didn't bite through the entire sandwich you got lots or none. The concept of the chicken parm seems flawed. Rather than a crisp grilled or fried chicken breast it's pulled or chopped meat interspersed with onions, peppers and an overly tomatoey sauce. This is your standard order at the counter and wait for your food kind of place. Its minimalist decor is nothing special. I wouldn't say this was any better or any worse than any other sandwich shop. I've been twice and each time I ordered The Bobbie both times. The first time I ordered this sandwich I ordered it with Gravy. The Bobbie is basically a turkey stuffing and cranberry sauce sandwich which is always an amazing combination. The gravy didn't really do anything for it in my opinion. Seemed like beef gravy to me. Turkey gravy might have been better. The second time I ordered the Bobbie and they offered the option to gut the bread I chose that option which made the sandwich easier to eat and no gravy. The sandwich was delicious both times. Subs come in four sizes: 5'' , 8'', 10'' and 18 '' They serve Pepsi fountain drinks and sweet and unsweet tea. They also have chips and 10 choices in fries. On 2/2/26 ordered 2 sandwiches and a large fry and drove 35 minutes to pick them up only to drive 35 minutes home to only get 1 of the sandwiches and the large fry. I called the restaurant and was told a manager would call me back about a refund and received no call or an apology from the 2 people working their that couldn't figure out how to put 2 sandwiches in a bag. $41 for 2 sandwiches and a fry is expensive enough but to pay that for 1 sandwich and 1 fry is outrageous. I recently stopped by to catch up with a buddy and share a few sandwiches. The service was good, but the food left a bit to be desired. We walked in and were greeted promptly. We looked over the menu and decided to share some food. We went with the cheesesteak, pastrami, Italian, chicken parm, and pastrami fries. We grabbed a seat and waited for our food. My food came out in about 5 minutes and my buddies was about 10 mins later. The cheesesteak was good. The hot peppers actually had some heat and the sandwich is the only one I would order again. We tried the pastrami next. It was rather rich, but the pastrami was pretty overcooked. It was ok. Next we tried the Italian. It had decent flavor, but didn't have much meat on it. It definitely needed double meat. The chicken parm was pretty disappointing. It wasn't a cutlet and more like a chicken cheese steak with mozzarella and flavorless red sauce. Neither of us liked this one. The last thing we shared was the pastrami fries. They seemed thrown together and were not really enjoyable. They really needed a sauce. Overall, our first visit was ok. Worst Customer Service Ever! Ordered and paid for food on line for in store pickup. Came to store on time to pick up order. They let a Uber drive take our food. Wouldn't do anything to replace our order. We waited over an hour and the incompetent rude, obnoxious, bull headed assistant manager refused to do anything to help. We came back two days later and she rudely threw us out of the store. It's sad that a easily corrected mistake on their part shows their the lack of customer service. Also contacted Corporate and never got a response. If a business needs to go away forever, this is it! If the food is as good as thier service you'll die of food poisoning! if I could give a half star I would. I have never been to this sandwich shop before. I came to the 7480 Cortez Rd W, Bradenton FL location. Upon entering I noticed that our order taker was the general manager. The receipt say Denise but she was not wearing a name tag so I have no way to identify her name other than she being in a shirt that has a collar and says General Manager. I said hi, I'm sorry I need to look, I have never been here before. So I asked for a sub and I asked if they had oil and vinegar. She told me to read the menu. I know I must have given her a look bc she says she's getting her customers trained to read the menu instead of having to explain what is on the sub verbally. As a manager of a fast food restaurant, I was astounded. She was so very rude. Told me again to read the menu when I asked another question. I complete my order and I just hear her talking to not only her staff but other patrons in the restaurant. I can not believe this woman with no curb side manner, no customer service, no real love for her job is allowed to not only work here BUT be the manager as well. No one table was cleaned in the dining room, the drink station had trash all around, and the women's bathroom is out of hand soap. For a woman who acted like that, her restaurant should be tip top shape! Not the case at all. The food was made correctly and yummy but because of the service I will never come to this location again and seeing as my family and I will be in this town a lot due to the burn victim trauma hospital around the corner, I will be in town feequently. The basis of any good sandwich is the bread. Capriotti.s bread was a very soft white bread roll. It was very disappointing. We ordered two French Dip sandwiches with two medium sodas. The bill was a whopping $41.00+ That is a rip-off. The meat had little flavor. The au jus dip tasted like a watered down beef bouillon cube. When we dipped the sandwiches into the gravy, the bread fell apart. We were asked by the counter person if we enjoyed the meal. Our negative reply rolled off of her like rain water off a duck. We will not be going back as there are many other sandwich shops that have tasty, reasonably priced sandwiches. read more
