I've tried a number of seafood boils around MA and Cap't Loui is definitely one of the better ones. We had shrimp and mussels with medium Cap't Loui sauce and lemon pepper and added garlic noodles and sausage. They sell by the half pound or pound with their prices listed on the walls in the restaurant based on their current market prices. The portions felt like a lot for what we ordered as we split about three pounds of seafood between three people and were all stuffed. The mussels were big and shrimp were very fresh and clean. The medium sauce was not too spicy and it also came with a potato and small corn on the cob. I thought their garlic noodles were not as good as I've had at other seafood boils, but they do not skimp on the garlic! The restaurant has a spacious front dining area where you enter from the mall with tables for larger parties and the back area where there are a lot of tables for smaller groups. All tables are lined with paper as you'd expect from a seafood boil restaurant and they use all plastic ware and cups. The service was relatively quick and attentive and they also give you gloves, bib, and a bucket for the shells as you eat. I recommend ordering combos as a group if you are hungry as you get free sides depending on how many pounds you order.
If you love seafood boils, Capt Loui is a must. I'm always trying new spots but somehow always end up coming back here because their house sauce is honestly unbeatable. I usually get the Boiler Combo, which comes with free sides, and I highly recommend adding the garlic noodles. This was also my first time trying their $1 oysters on Tuesdays and the quality was great and very fresh. Definitely my favorite spot when I'm craving seafood boil.
Dollar oyster Tuesday! Our server, she was very attentive, nice and gave me a pitcher of water so i didn't have to have her refill every 30 seconds haha. They do a good job of shucking the oysters here, no shell bits that you bite into when consuming and it wasn't gritty! The funnel cake fries were always yummy! We had that with the ice cream! We went light on the boil, got shrimp head on half lb with sausage! Regular spicy! They had ample amounts today! Hah fix the music speakers! Used to bump more! But capt Louis always convenient, easy parking and quick!

Cap't Loui in Braintree would have to be my favorite seafood boil in all of Massachusetts. I love how their seafood boil has a bit of sweetness that compliments the strong Cajun flavors. The seafood is fresh and the mussels were big. The sausages were flavorful and everything was delicious. My only wish was that I wish their sides of rice were bigger as they were on the smaller side. The service was amazing, the servers were extremely attentive and offered refills of water very quickly. The interior is stunning with graphics drawn all over the walls that made the experience of eating there even better. I was also pleasantly surprised how the restaurant didn't have that overpowering smell of seafood that other seafood places tend to have. I highly recommend going here!
Capt Loui hits the mark when you want some indulgent seafood boil. Their Capt Loui sauce is so good! It can get really spicy but their mild is great and suits everything. Our favorite add-ins are their shrimp, snow crab, sausage and corn. The best side is their cajun fries - they're ultra thin and crispy. So tasty. Docking a point because the potatoes are just these tasteless whole boiled potatoes they just dumped into the bag. They could've at least cut them in half so they could absorb the sauce. Oysters are expensive and very average. Also the service can be hit or miss. Sometimes they're very attentive, other times they can be forgetful. They've also gotten a bit expensive over the years - $90 for a pick 3 combo, but that's to be expected.
I haven't had seafood boil in a long time so I took the chance to try it on my way back from the beach. We were seated quickly when we arrived on a weekday at 6 pm. It's decorated with some fishing-related things on the walls and huge signs of their menu items. You can choose the seafood that you like by the 0.5 lb (e.g. clams, shrimp, crawfish), sauce, and spiciness. Sides include rice, corn, noodles, and potatoes. There are also combo options to save a bit of money. We didn't have a huge appetite so we picked our own: shrimp, mussels, sausages, potatoes, and rice. Once you order, they lay down a mat, bucket for shells, and bibs for you to wear. The food was really good. I loved the Cap't Loui sauce - tangy, sweet, spicy. We left very full and happy with our meal.
Cap't Loui is still hands down the best seafood boil around Massachusetts. Great promotions and great service. Food - their Cajun sauce they make in house is so good. I usually get extra hot ($2 extra). It's spicy but a good spicy. It's bearable so you always want more. Their garlic noodles is a must to pair with your seafood boil. I usually keep it simple and get shrimp, mussels (they use green New Zealand mussels), and crawfish (live if it's available). Pick 3, you get two free sides to add on. Each order comes with potatoes and corn. Overall, it has gotten very expensive but it's just market price. That's out of their control.
We had such a great experience at Cap't Loui! It was my parents' first time having seafood boil and they loved it! My dad finished his entire 4 pound bag while the rest of us shared / had leftovers to take home. Ordering style: you can choose a combination of the seafood options adding up to 2, 3, or 4 pounds. Choose the sauce (captain loui special or lemon pepper). Depending on the weight total, you have 1, 2, or 3 sides included. My favorite was the king crab and garlic noodles. We also ordered the fishermans platter, clam chowder, and funnel cake fries. All so delicious! The cajun fries were SO GOOD. I know I'll be craving those frequently. I was most impressed by the amenities provided! There were different-sized gloves, hair ties, lotion, hand sanitizer, and mouthwash available. The staff was super friendly and accommodating. I would definitely come here again!
Cane here on a Tuesday evening for the $1 oyster deal and was happily pleased with the quality of seafood! We got a dozen of $1 oysters and they were so fresh and tasty. They were pretty large and meaty oysters too! I've been to a lot of $1 oyster places around the Boston area and I'd have to say this is one of the best I've had in terms of quality and taste. I appreciate how they give tabasco sauce as well. We also got some seafood boil that was delicious. I definitely recommend the calamari -- you get a lot for 1/2 a pound! The calamari was not rubbery at all. The mussels were also really good, not too chewy. The shrimp was also cooked well too. The classic Capt Loui sauce was tasty, super flavorful with lots of Cajun seasoning that pairs amazingly with their garlic noodles. Their garlic noodles definitely deliver on the garlic! I love how the seafood boil comes with a corn and a potato (I got an extra potato!). Service overall was good, our food came out quickly and our server was friendly. We came right before it got busy, but we still had to wait about 10-15 mins before getting seated. The restaurant is very clean with lots of seating and the vibes are casual. Parking is super easy since it's in the mall. I'd definitely recommend coming here! The food is tasty, well priced, and good quality. I plan on coming back here on Tuesday for more $1 oysters :)
They have a $1 oyster deal on Tuesdays and came for that and it did not disappoint! At a seafood boil place my party got chicken tender basket and it was actually so good. The fries were amazing and the sauces they had topped it off!
I need an IV drip of their Louisiana Hot sauce. Spicy, garlicky, savory, and super flavorful. It paired really well with not only the seafood, but with the sides as well. Also the corn and the potato made perfect flavor sponges. I was bummed that they didn't have fresh crawfish at the moment but everything else more than made up for it. The garlic noodles are very delicious by themselves or by dunking them into the sauce in the bag. Same with the lemon pepper fries, delicious by itself but better with the sauce in the bag. They also have great combos where you get free food depending how much seafood you order. Overall just a really great meal. read more

Seriously, my new favorite seafood place! No longer do I need to drive all the way to Stoneham for their other location. Unlimited garlic noodles? Say no more! Do the combos! -pick 2: get a free side -pick 3: get free mussels or crawfish -pick 4: get a free lobster or snow crab Manfriend and I ordered 4 things, if you know me, i'm going for that free lobster! We got clams, shrimps, mussels, and live crawfish that comes with corn and potatoes. Their Louisiana sauce was amazing! Medium spice level is mild in my opinion. Came across this place on my trip to Boston and I was amazed at how good this restaurant was! Best seafood boil I have visited in the past few years. The place is very modern, nice and cozy. The atmosphere is great for any occasion to have a meal with your family, friends, or loved one. Although I came here on the holiday, the service was still very fast and accommodating. I picked a 4 combo with mussels, live crawfishes, lobsters, and snow crabs. The seafood was fresh and marinated well. We tried both the sauces and loved them all. We also added the garlic noodles and extra corns for additional fees. The kids loved the garlic noodles, highly recommended. We were very satisfied, and everyone agreed this restaurant was a hot spot for any locals or tourists to visit. Wish we had this great quality for seafood boils in Philadelphia. About the drinks, we loved the cocktails that we ordered. I highly recommended you to try the Mr. Rich & Finding nemo. Overall great restaurant with high-quality seafood and great service. Heard this was like the louiloui in stoneham. It was definitely tasty and fresh like it is there. It is good to have a Cajun seafood boil place in the south shore. We got the Lemon pepper & Louisiana sauce. We got a few pounds of crab Legs, shrimp, sausage, corn and crawfish. The sauces were flavorful and enhance the flavor of the seafood. The seafood had a nice coating of sauce over it. Captloui in braintree had a promo for free Gralic noodles. It was flavorful and I could taste the garlic in every bite. The mixed drinks were in a cool bag with a straw and tasty delightful. Staff was friendly and helpful. Price was reasonable for seafood. Overall, it was pretty satisfying and worth a try. read more

My new favorite Loui Loui location! I grew up eating boiling crab and kickin crab in SoCal and have been to most of the crab boil restaurants in the Boston area and Cap't Loui is one of the best in the area in terms of taste, quality and price. My waiter, Eric was very friendly and helpful. He definitely made our dining experience more enjoyable. I ordered the snow crab and crawfish combo Louisiana style extra spicy for around $38. The snow crab was very meaty and flavorful while the crawfish was surprisingly good for frozen crawfish. It came with a free side and I opted for Cajun fries. They also had a promo at the time for free UNLIMITED garlic noodles. What a deal, right? My only complaint is that I was disappointed that the sauce was more of chunky paste than a sauce so I couldn't dip my seafood in it like I usually love to do! read more

My friends and I were looking for a seafood and comfort food restaurant after a long week of midterms and found Cap't Loui after talking with some locals in Boston. Top notch, best cajun seafood boil in Boston! I got the Cajun fries, snow crab in Loui sauce, and the Finding Nemo tequila drink on the side. The fries was so crispy and perfectly seasoned. It had a crunchy exterior, but yet a light and fluffy interior. Such a perfect balance! The snow crab and the Loui sauce is the perfect pairing! Love these crab boil places down south. Really wanted to like this however, just not a good experience. To begin with, the prices are double of what these charge down south. They didn't have any diet sodas at all. The snow crabs were over cooked. Soft and not crispy at all. On top of that the Cap't Loui boil was so garlicky I can kill any vampire on the south shore with my breath. Usually there's a Cajun or a garlic option. Look at him, he's the captain now! I always tread carefully when ordering crawfish from the east coast, but they had fresh live crawfish! We had 2 orders of the pick 4, just to try a little bit of everything. So that means we had the crawfish, snow crab legs, clams, and shrimp. It was delicious. 10/10 would eat it again. Such a great space with great food! Everything tasted soo great. Employees are so friendly and they have great service! Ordered the calamari basket (w/ lemon pepper fries) soooo bomb! After that we got the king crab, snow crab, mussels, shrimp and crawfish. Super flavorful, the capt loui sauce was great. I love spicy food so i ordered an extra of the extra spicy sauce on the side and was not disappointed! The ambiance of the restaurant is nice and cozy and its very spacious! I just want to say Wow! 1st. We called few days before we came to eat we had called to make a reservation, little disappointed that they didn't make reservations because we were a party of 13-15 People. 2nd. When we arrived we didn't even have to wait for our tables to be ready! Great servIce, everyone was so nice. 3rd. The reason I am writing this review wasn't just because of the food! Which was great! But HENRY! Your are the man! We had a big group and little kids we were driving you crazy and you kept your happy face all night! You never gave us a bad face or any bad looks. So Fing!!!!! Good!!!!!! Like seriously. If youve never had a seafood boil I 100% recommend. This was the first time I had ever tried it so I thought it was great but not sure how it would hold up against other places in terms of flavor/authenticity. We got the Capt Loui sauce eith medium spiciness and it was perfect! It's pricey $$ so go with a few people and get a combo order. Anyway 10/10 deliciousness!! read more

One of my favorite places to go to for seafood boil! I always get the crab legs and I love the lemon pepper sauce. Everyone always gets the loui which is delicious but lemon pepper is sooo underrated!! I also really like how they offer mussels with sauce on the side so you can dip. As far as I'm aware they have NOT discontinued the unlimited garlic noodle deal. You simply have to ask for it now. :)
Is this a year-round restaurant or will it close once summer is over?

I tried to call and ask about catering but the receptionist didn't seem to understand what I was asking.... Do you cater? I can pick up, I just need a huge order with a few different sauces on the side and what not.

I confess I'm a rather lazy eater. How difficult is it to get the meat out of the shells? Are the shells pre-cracked for easier eating?
The shrimp is very easy to peal and usually comes off as one shell. The snow crab can be tricky but we offer 2 different kinds of Shellers that make it a LOT easier. As for king crab and lobster simply ask one of our servers to cut them up for you…
