We took a private (4 hour) charter in Key West with Sheri. 5/5 stars! Sheri was very helpful prior to our trip, emailing me back about specific details I asked for and answering all my questions prior to booking her. I appreciated all the honest information and suggestions she sent me! The boat day was fun- my partner and I brought our dog and had a beautiful morning on the water! Sheri was VERY accommodating to both us, and our dog. She was so prepared with water bowls (and water), dog water toys, leashes, and life vests for our fur baby. We went to a sand bar (before anyone else showed up, and during low tide so our puppy could swim/run), and scouted several areas for dolphins (ended up finding a bunch of them- which our dog also loved)! We opted not to go snorkeling but she is very open to tailoring the trip to whatever you want to do. She has plenty of snorkel gear and wet suits. I posted this review on TripAdvisor too, but wanted to share here in case others use Yelp more. Our Wild About Dolphins Tour was easily one of the highlights of our trip to Key West! Booking a trip was easy, and Sheri reached out multiple times to communicate beforehand about the details of the trip. Her top priority is clearly ensuring that you have a safe, memorable, and fun trip. Her boat (Amazing Grace) is clean, well-equipped, and perfect for me, my husband, and our two dogs. It would also certainly be possible to have a slightly larger group of people on board too. She has some waters/juices, sunscreen, and snorkeling gear you can use. It is clear that Sheri really knows what she is doing, as she has been giving dolphin tours for many years. While we went in with the expectation that we may not see dolphins, we ended up seeing a bunch on a gorgeous day in April and that was AMAZING. We even got to snorkel a bit in some of the beautifully clear waters around Key West. Sheri is kind, welcoming, knowledgable, and you can tell she loves what she does. My dogs had a fantastic time as well which is a bonus for me!!! I would rate this more than 5 stars if I could and it will definitely be on my list of things to do when I come back to Key West. My husband and I were referred by a friend to give it a try saying that it was the very best dolphin tour in the area. We went on a half day trip with Captain Sheri this past weekend as part of our honeymoon and it was easily the highlight of our trip to the Keys. The best part about Captain Sheri's trip is that her boat is 100% dog friendly! We had our boxer with us for the honeymoon so we wanted to do activities we could include her in and this did not disappoint. We were two out of the four guests that Captain Sheri brought out that day and the skies were clear, the breeze was soothing, and the waters were perfectly turquoise. This tour stands out because Captain Sheri provides so much interesting knowledge about the marine life we encountered on our trip (and boy, did we encounter some marine life!) From majestic wild dolphins, to loggerhead turtles, to giant tarpon, and various bird species, we had amazing views of everything. We hung out by the dolphins for a good 45 minutes and they dazzled us with their mating and playing. The pups on board (including Captain Sheri's super friendly, Maya) were really fascinated by the dolphins and vice versa. Then we had a light lunch, took a dip at a sweet sandbar, and got some snorkeling in before heading back. It was a great day trip that took us around the Gulf and the entire tip of Key West back to the Atlantic side. Overall, you won't be disappointed! Captain Sheri is knowledgeable, laid-back, and fun! Outstanding! Captain Sheri is awesome! Our extended family took a 1/2 day tour (1pm-5pm), first-time experience for grandparents, and we all loved it! Friendly, informative, nice boat, and we got to see plenty of dolphins! We found a few dolphins in the harbour near Key West, got a nice view of the port, city, cruise ships, etc...then she took us out about 2-3 miles and we found a group of 7-8 dolphins. We just cruised along with them for about 15-20 minutes as the swam next to the boat, under the boat, etc.....they were so close. It was absolutely great! We had plenty of drinks (water, tea, soda) and snacks were provided. She even took us for a short snorkel stop. The water was a bit cloudy so this wasn't great, but not her fault, there had been bad weather for several days before our trip. When we got back to the docks we used the passes she had given us to visit the harbour club and use their pool and showers to clean up before dinner. One of the best experiences of our trip! Definitely worth the extra money to have a private tour. Positives: Friendly and thoughtful captain, close-up experience with dolphins, nice boat, snacks, beverages, and nice snorkel gear provided, flexible (will alter to your tastes). Captain Sheri was extremely friendly, knowledgeable, and accommodating. We booked a private charter so we could take our dog with us, and it was a blast! She has all the gear you need for both humans and dogs to take a swim out in the Gulf of Mexico and go snorkeling, and helps you out if you are an amateur like myself. Captain Sheri was amazing from the time she said hello to the time we parted ways. Her decades of first hand experience, and expertise shows, as she is pilots her boat seemingly effortlessly in the shallows of the gulf and found the most spectacular reefs for snorkeling. She keeps her well appointed vessel in pristine condition, has plenty ice cold beverages, tasty lunch & snacks, and your every need is anticipated right down to the Eco-reef friendly sunscreen. Her knowledge about the dolphins, their habitat and daily rituals is second to none. It is evident that this is her passion as she cares about the dolphins and it seems as if the dolphins sense this in how they interacted with us. We were delighted to have had several pods of dolphins around us, under the boat, jumping and playing around entertaining us. When other boats left we had the dolphins to ourselves. She shared with us the various "activities" of pods and educated us to the point my niece is now entertaining a degree in Marine Biology. Seeing the dolphins like this in their natural environment was amazing experience of a lifetime. I wasn't really into dolphins and scoffed at a whole trip revolving around dolphins, BUT it was AMAZING! The amount of wildlife Capt Sheri showed us was truly spectacular. We probably saw at least 50 dolphins (within 4 feet of the boat), she is passionate about the keys, boating, and the animals. She is a great guide. Her boat is newer and comfortable. The snorkeling spot she took us to was also great. I saw more fish snorkeling with Capt Sheri, than I did last time I was in Maui. There was an abundance of colorful schools of fish, nurse shark, large sea turtles, tarpon, barracuda, etc, etc. I was blown away. Reasonably priced and intimate. Great trip! read more

We had a great time in Key West, but this was easily the highlight. An easy five stars. Sheri is one of the original folks to provide such a tour and she has many friends/connections that help her get straight to the dolphins. Apparently they know her, as she plays Amazing Grace and other songs the dolphins know upon arrival on the scene. A pair swam beside/under our boat for maybe 20 minutes, with another "teenager" maybe 20 feet away. They were just hanging out enjoying the day. Her dog, Maya adds a lot of fun to the trip. She loves to swim out to greet the dolphins. Warning: She's super friendly, but if you're not a dog lover, Sheri can easily restrict her and she doesn't seem to mind it. This package is a great value, too. She provides, drinks, a heavy snack (we love hummus) and takes you to a couple of great places to snorkel after you meet the dolphins. After we returned, we spent a few hours poolside at the Harbour Marina Club - very nice, great lunch, poolside service...awesome and included with your (already very reasonable) cost! Another note: get good directions, we were confused and the gate didn't open for us until someone helped. read more

We can't say enough great things about this day trip! Captain Sheri is a wonderful host, making sure you're comfortable throughout the entire trip. First off, her boat is very clean, well covered for those with fair skin like me, but also plenty of space to sunbathe as well if you're into that! The boat is plenty big enough for the small group (no more than 6) that come on the trip, which makes for an intimate and more enjoyable experience. She keeps you well hydrated with several drink options, and after snorkeling gives a great array of foods including fruit, veggies, pita, hummus, cheeses as a great afternoon snack. But of course, the best part: the dolphins! The water was great but we were initially having some trouble finding more than a couple dolphins. But no worries! Captain Sheri searched until we found a pod of at least 7 dolphins that danced around the boat as she played music. Absolutely amazing! This trip was the highlight of our vacation! My boyfriend and I booked the afternoon dolphin tour and we were with one other couple. Captain Sheri was so friendly and knowledgeable. She answered all of our various questions not only about dolphins but about Key West in general! We saw a pod of dolphins and as soon as Captain Sheri played the music they came right up to the boat and looked at us and swam around us many times! It was the coolest thing I had ever seen. We even stopped to see a sea turtle! We made it to the snorkeling spot which was perfect! If we had any questions about what we saw she answered them and we saw so many sting rays and barracuda and tarpon! We had a family of 5 - 2 kids, 12 and 13, 2 adults and a senior. We knew to arrive 15-20 min. early. We were 45 minutes early. When we got to the Marina, it was immediately clear that something was amiss. It was evident on the face of the gal working at the Marina and she whispered to another guy there and so I just asked outright if there was a prob They both said they had not heard from George that day and were just a bit concerned since usually he checks in by then and that also his wife was due within a couple of weeks w/their 2nd child. So about 5 minutes later, we just call the Marina # to check. Sherri (who is in MI) answers and reiterates everything in our contract and says George should be there within 20 minutes. 20 minutes later and no George or phone call. 1:00 and no George or phone call. (Keep in mind, we are supposed to be here early and the boat should be leaving at 1). Our son is crabby and I am verbally discussing whether to stay or leave. My mom is verbally wondering how this affects the money situation. I am sort of smack talking about how he at least should have called us as he has our phone #. A guy who doesn't even work for the Co. pipes up and says, "I can't help but overhear and I know that George is usually on time and he is going through some personal stuff with his wife expecting a baby any day now and I think that you should cut him some slack." Huh??? He is late and I shouldn't be expecting to know? I turned around and said, "First impressions, ya know?" The guy was a jerk and made it WORSE not better. Hey, dude, I have delivered 2 babies myself and understand better than you EVER will! ALL I want is a phone call!! Where the heck are you? Another 5 min. at least and a guy walks in and goes to the now-gathered group of marine workers and they all talk in lowered voices for a minute. Then the guy heads over to us and says, "I'm George, I am your Capt. for the day and I just want to let you know that the waters are really choppy and we really debated about whether or not to go out today. I decided to drive out here and let you decide instead of calling you so that it could be your decision. I was driving out here and had scooter trouble, that is why I am late by the way.." No I am sorry, no reason as to why he hadn't called the marina and relayed that info., no real remorse at all. Plus he hadn't rushed over to his clients, he went to his buddies first knowing he was late!! We did decide to go out. George was great at finding us dolphins. Thus the 2 stars. He wasn't over-friendly but neither was he rude . In my opinion, he never made it up to us about not communicating and not being somewhat remorseful. The snorkeling was bad Saw about 7 variety of fish. I snorkeled Maui and it was a sheer delight. The water was choppy so swimming was tough. I kept telling George that the kids had never snorkeled before and thought he would walk them through it but he just said, "that's okay." Lunch was pita, tomato, cheese cubes, ginger snap cookies, chips, hummus and lettuce that tasted like George's unwashed hands!! He FINALLY offered beverages . My daughter came out of the water last and he never offered her anything. A party of 5 only had 4 beverages on the trip because he really never offered. I was thirsty the whole time. He was more than happy to take our money at the end I tipped him 20% because I am a nice person. I thought he should have been overjoyed with this but he was pretty blase. I wish I had only tipped 10%. The customer should be served especially for that kind of money. It was our splurge event of our vacation and it didn't live up to the reviews that I had read here on Yelp that others experienced. I say go elsewhere because in the end, all the boats communicate with each other as to where they are having luck finding the dolphins so you will see them if they are out that day no matter who you decide to go with. First impressions, ya know? Epilogue: No explanation or apology has ever been received.
