Arrived thirty minutes early to blow up our rafts and register online with an ipod. Brought our snacks and liquor onto the tiki boat with our charismatic captain, Kathy who provided mixers and a quick safety drill. We were off right on time and headed out to the sandbar in the Gulf of Mexico. Light drizzle for the first ten minutes then pure sun for the entire two hours. Loved every minute and would do it again and again. Price is $430 for two hours with a max of six people.

It's not just a boat ride it's a floating time machine with just enough modern comfort to keep you from questioning your life choices. Now toss in my crew a full-blown cast of characters that could rival The Hangover. One guy shows up dressed like a budget pirate, fully committed. Another thinks every moment is an opportunity for a prank. Then you've got the intellectual who knows everything, the guy who drinks like it's a competitive sport, the jokester, the snob and me, somewhere in the middle just trying to keep the ship from turning into a crime scene. I swear, the energy alone had "we're getting kicked off" written all over it before we even left the dock. And sure enough, chaos found us. The positive side is you get to bring your own alcohol and food if you want. We chose to eat dinner at the Conch Republic seafood house before we boarded. And of course I brought my wine on board. We boarded at 6:15 pm and were greeted by a crew of three. Captain and two mates. They were all awesome full of knowledge answering all our questions while tending to the boat. They are known for their cannon which is fired at other ships veering too close lol. We had a quiet group of 18 souls on board but it was my first time on an actual sail boat so I totally enjoyed it. I highly recommend this as your option if want to avoid the huge boats.

My only constructive feedback would be that I would have liked to see us change locations or try a different approach a little sooner. With only a handful of passengers on board, there was some discussion about switching things up, and looking back, it felt like it may have been worth trying earlier. That said, nobody can control the conditions, and I understand there are no guarantees when it comes to fishing. From the ease of the booking and contact with Captain Morgan as to where to catch the boat to a beautiful day full of sites, fun and laughter. We (the four of us) have been in Key West on many trips and decided with the great weather doing an all day Tiki Boat/Sand Bar trip would be so much fun and it did not disappoint. The highlight of the trip was our Captain. Truly a great guy, friendly, welcoming, great sense of humor and very professional. Of course we gave him a hard time about being "Captain Morgan", which by the way he gets it a lot! We had the best time talking with him and as we all got to know each other we had blast giving each other fun stories and joking around. Morgan told us so much about the waters around the Keys. Took us to several very pretty spots in which we saw more wild life that day then he said he's seen in a while. We saw nurse shark, several dolphin pods and one with a little baby! Sting ray and some barracuda The waters are a beautiful blue like you seen no where else. Captain Morgan took us to see the beautiful mangroves, so many lizards in the trees it was crazy... and just gorgeous. We pulled up on a little beach to check out the views and hang in the water. We brought some drinks, sandwiches and snacks... Such a fun experience to relax on this boat. The tiki theme is so fun, clean boat and great music. Defiantly gives you the island vibe. He's only been with the company for 4 months---but had all kinds of fun filed facts about Key West. The sun was behind clouds...and it POURED on our way back in....BUT none of that mattered as we had a great captain, fun music, libations :) and friends/family.
