My wife and I stopped by Captain Bonney's Creamery and had a fantastic experience. My wife ordered the chicken ranch wrap with a Coffee Oreo Cookie Dough Frap, and I took Myles' recommendation of the barbecue chicken sandwich meal, which was excellent. For dessert, I had the Coffee Oreo Sundae, and it was the perfect way to finish the meal. Everything was made correctly, tasted fresh, and the customer service was friendly from start to finish. Myles recommended one of his personal favorites, and he definitely didn't steer me wrong. It's great to see someone take pride in their first job and make customers feel welcome. Omg, by far the best ice cream place around. Tons of choices and has a nice play area for kiddos. They have coffee vanilla twist soft serve, which is what I always get. Delicious!! The service is always pleasant and helpful if you can't decide. Sometimes there's a lot of kids, but even then it's not bad at all since they have so many toys/games. Fun place! Out of the way mom and pop shop. It was friendly. Clean. Huge menu with a lot of variety. We opted just for ice cream and the kids had more than plenty and couldn't eat it all. They were able to play and be kids while my friend and I got to sit and chat without having to hover over them. If we're back in the area again we will return! read more

This ice cream stop is seriously fantastic. It's kind of in the middle of nowhere (at least as a Rhode Islander visiting), but a friend used to live in the area and told me this was a great spot because they serve Acushnet ice cream, an acclaimed Creamery that was our backup if we didn't stop here. There's a big menu, over 50 flavors, with color codings to signify Acushnet or Gifford's ice cream, whether or not it contained nuts, and if it was gluten free. At the recommendation of my friend, I tried the Cranberry harvest (with real cranberries, chocolate chunks, and walnuts) and purple cow, which I NEVER knew was raspberry with Oreos...what a heavenly combination!! Both of these scoops (generous, mind you, for only $4) were incredible. Definitely creamy. My friend got seasonal peach and ginger, which were SO good and much more refreshing than my heavy-on-the-dessert flavors. We ate our ice cream on picnic tables while kids played in the jungle gym in the back--a super family friendly place. (And though I was not paying attention to "real" food, it seems they serve hot dogs and sandwiches and New England seafood fare as well.) This was the PERFECT inaugural ice cream for the 2018 season, and I most certainly will stop again if I'm ever in the area! read more

So I've passed this place countless times on my way to Acushnet Creamery, but decided to finally stop in. I didn't see the appeal driving by, but a family member raved to me about them so I gave it a shot. They have a pretty extensive ice cream menu, and even sell Acushnet Creamery ice creams. They also have a hot food menu, however I have not tried any food items yet. I will say that since my first visit I have been back twice more in the past month. The appeal? It's closer for me than Acushnet Creamery, the line isn't as long, and there is tons of seating. Oh and the serving sizes are extremely generous! My son ordered different flavors of their Acushnet Creamery offerings each time in a size medium and when we saw it, you would have thought it was a large! They smartly offer cups at the napkin station which is nice. I have been sticking to their soft serve, as they offer a unique flavor which is right up my alley. Coffee soft serve!! Ok to all my coffee fanatics it is a must try, you can also get a coffee/vanilla twist which I have yet to try. We enjoyed sitting outside eating our ice cream in one of their many Adirondack chairs. The staff have all been friendly every time as well. So if your like me and have passed by many times, do yourself a favor and stop! read more
