This one server kept looking like n talking crazy to another customer n the food was mid n kinda ok

This restaurant offers to-go buffet, dine-in buffet or to-go menu items. Food: SC6 shrimp, calamari, potatoes and corn. I disliked their Cajun seasoning, it was bland. The quality of their shrimp was smaller than I expected in comparison to their nearby competitors in Bartlett. This menu item comes with 2 pcs of Texas toast 2 hush puppies, is the perfect perks for this meal. The price is average. Kids prices varies depending on age. There is two separate pricing options for their buffet; seafood or soul food option. Same goes for take out buffet. Service: friendly, large parties subject to additional fees (gratuity, etc.) for dining in. Ambiance: casual, clean (they scored a 90 score from health department), family friendly, lots of security cameras inside and out, private parking. Parking lot is secure but is in bad shape, potholes, uneven surfaces etc. Definitely check all to-go orders before leaving the counter!!!! My order was incorrect but they made it right. Why the one star: they tried to convince me my order was not incorrect, the parking lot conditions is not ideal for those who are disabled, lack of available hand sanitizers around the buffet areas, and pricing display menu is tricky and pricey for the seafood selection. The food is very delicious here, but the only problem that I have with this restaurant is that their take out plates are ridiculously too darn small. I meant when you come to just pick up some food for take out, you have to literally tie your bag down in order to make it fit because with the price you are charged, those 3 ring very thin containers are not worth it, and you have to pay for an extra cup container to put food in. Shame on you Captain King's management team. You are cheating the people who just want to pick up and take out. it's not like you don't have enough food. I bet you throw out a lot within that day as well. Again, the food is delicious, but the containers need to be upgraded to a the regular restaurant container instead of those thin breakable ones. read more

I must say that this place has come a long way! The renovations are nice. They are chic and modern. They have plenty of seating including a private room as well. They have booths, large round tables that can seat 6-8 people, and small tables. As far as the food, they have a variety to choose from. You can enjoy the seafood section, but it's an additional $20. It is serves with crab legs, shrimp, eggs, corn, etc. They have Asian food that includes egg rolls, rice, wontons, dumplings, and more. They have soul food. This is where the fried fish and chicken, mash potatoes, dressing, spaghetti, cornbread, and so much more! They even have pig feet and hog maw if you want to go the deep southern soul food route! Once you are done with your meal, you can go over to the dessert section. They have pies, cakes, cookies, ice cream, fruit cups, jello and more! The egg custard pie was soooo good! I was in a party of 10, we were seated immediately on a Sunday evening . Plenty free parking. Good service. Crab legs are not included in the buffet and $20 a lb is steep. The build your own boil was tasty, especially with the king sauce, the mild hot is not at all hot, according to my entire party. The fried shrimp lacked flavor. The grilled shrimp was not clean and over cooked. They had a variety of food options. The bread pudding was yummy. The women's bathroom needs some cleaning and paper towels, one stall was broken. I never write reviews, be it good or bad. As I read through the reviews, to my surprise, I see that a lot of people seem to like the food. I guess it's a matter of taste and what one is used to. To start, the staff was not too welcoming, the cleanliness of the establishment was less than stellar, and the food was flavorless. They offer a huge variety or food options; I'll give them that. I fixed a sampler plate with small portions because I wanted to ensure that I was giving the restaurant a fair shake and wasn't being picky or overly critical about the quality of the food. After trying several menu options, I was left feeling very unsatisfied. There were no variations in taste, everything I tried tasted the same. I tasted 3 different desserts, and they all were cold and bland. I visited this restaurant last year (2024). I'm not sure if the quality or taste of the food has changed or not because I vowed not to return. Again, the price point is affordable, and the food options are vast, but the quality of the food does absolutely nothing for the taste palate. Now, this is just my opinion and experience. Searching on Yelp, we found another buffet to explore near Memphis area; Lunch buffet on Tuesday was $11.88+tax/pp, which was reasonable and affordable! Dinners and Sundays were 2-3 dollars more. They have huge eating areas on both sides; food trays and cooking grill at the front and center. The whole restaurant was pretty full. We are seafood lovers, the fried prawns, fried catfish fillets, fried tilapia were so fresh and delicious; many other dishes, including soul foods were tasty too! The best part of Buffet was ordering your own Seafood Boils based on your personal preferences, and it's included in your Lunch price. There were 2 computers nearby, just order your favorite meats and veggies, choose food flavors and how spicy you like; computer will print out your receipt and chef will cook for you. I chose " Cajun" and " mild spicy", my seafood Boils were so good! Their deserts areas had two sections, full of choices; and salad bar looked very good, but I was too full to try. Looks like I'm the first one to review this place. I think this is the first buffet ever I've left 5 stars for. And that's bound to change. It always does. I flew solo for lunch on their first day. The line to pay was literally out the door. Once we paid, we had to go to the back of another line to be seated. The place was easily at 200% capacity. There were just a few others ahead of me in this second line, but the host said they were out of small tables, and had the couples and the singles stand aside to wait for more small tables. And then the host proceeded to help the next person in line. If it was a party of 5 or 6, he took them to a big table. If it was a couple or single, he made them stand aside and wait. So, after waiting in two lines, and after more than a half hour of waiting, we were ordered to wait some more, and being forced to watch those behind us in line get seated. Some of us were murmuring that we just wanted a refund so we could leave, and I suggested that since we've all become friends anyway, we should just join each other at a big table. So we pitched our idea to the host who granted our wish. There were what looked like two buffets. At the west end was all kinds of seafood and there was a crowd around it. That's what everyone was there for. But to me, it just looked like more waiting and I was already short on time. I was in a rush to eat something and get back to work, so I just made two plates from the southern food buffet bar. I'll try the seafood at a later date. The food was very good considering it was buffet style. Although it had been devoured, it did not look at all decimated. It was continually being stocked. I was very impressed. My whole experience took about an hour. That was about 45 minutes waiting and 15 minutes eating. I am not going to complain about the wait because of the way these guys handled the restaurant. For their first day, they did great. They seemed as though they had handled crowds like this for years. And they couldn't have known that they would be so overwhelmed. All in all, I liked it, and I'll go back once the newness wears off and the crowds begin to diminish. Also, I liked the price. I don't know if they'll change that, but ten bucks is great if they have seafood on the buffet. Buffet doesn't include drinks. I've always thought it was funny that you can eat anything you want, as much as you want, but you can't get tea without paying more. Yeah, I know the reason. Still good price. All of the above was on Monday on their first day. Then I went back on Thursday, which would have been their first Thursday. Right at lunch time and there was one party ahead of me to pay and then I had to wait on them to get seated, so it took like 3 minutes to get a table this time. I went to the seafood bar and figured out how to make a bowl and got them to cook it for me. It was really good and I got a lot for my money. I had a little cobbler and I found that their desserts were a bit lacking, but I usually don't care much for desserts anyway. And then I went back again the following Tuesday which would have been their second Tuesday. The seafood gumbo was not only good, it was awesome! So we ordered a lb of snow crab legs too which was an extra $15-16.. Thats cool watevers u know. Then go get seated and use the restroom. For a big ass restaurant as busy as they were to only have 4 stalls and 2 outta order they needa get on that! Like, its a buffet.. and a Sunday.. People go there to eat there stomachs out. Ya'll know it goes dowwwwn in the rest rooms! But blah... On to the food. We walked out and BAM! Boil seafood section!! :D I swear if I coulda filled my plate more I would have but my shit was RUNNETH TF OVER!!! Sunday I caught a flat tire while out in the streets. Monday, I went to a few tire shops to price compare and ended up purchasing a used tire. The weather was extremely nice out so we drove downtown afterwards, parked the truck, and took a very nice, long stroll of the downtown area. We both started getting hungry and I instantly thought of this restaurant that I saved in Google maps. I been wanting to try it because of the seafood options and big variety of other cuisines. There were a few choices that neither of us cared for along with some we both liked. I honestly thought the seafood boil bar would come with more in the bowl, but I enjoyed it so much that I went back for seconds. Fyi, I am so much a foodie that all plates pictured are mine, lol! Then, we spent the next 4-half hours before 12 a.m. hustling in the streets doing my UberEATS deliveries. He has been my official ride along twice now, since I started two weeks ago. i went here for a birthday dinner, we were set in the big room and had two asian servers, they were really rude because there was a confusion with our tickets. They were stating that we had not paid for 3 of our kids but YES WE ALL PAID!!!!!! They were just on a diffferent ticket they even went to the extent of having me walk to the front to ask the cashier ladies which they even told the server that yes we had in fact paid for the children, the cashiers were so busy with other customers but the servers started yelling that everyone has to pay, so the cashiers even stopped taking other customers in order to find another reciept. The whole time we were there they didnt bother to come to the table with refills nor to pick up plates, they would just sit around and speak in there language and stare at us. We did go and speak to the manager and she was very kind and embarrassed about the situation but it was out of their hands. read more

Please don't eat here. I wasted almost $60 on seafood. Got home and there was a worm/caterpillar looking creature in my bag stuck on my crab legs. I told my husband to throw it out immediately. The buffet was fresh with a nice variety of food. Our waitress was very attentive. The seafood was good, but there is a extra cost for crab legs that would bring the cost to near $40 a person. IMO that is a bit too expensive for a buffet so I didn't buy the crab legs, but what I ate was pretty darn good. As buffets go, it is on the high end cost wise but the food was well prepared and good. Try it. I'll go back. read more
