Our food was delicious and arrived fresh shortly after we ordered it. Our server was very kind and helpful. They have a patio here and a spacious dining room. Lovely establishment - limited parking. They do have additional designated parking right across the street in two other lots which are fairly close so no worries. The menu has a great variety as well so pretty much anything you think should be at a Mexican restaurant is listed. Nice addition to the Bartlett area!

Not really impressed with it. Asked for sweet tea. Got unsweet. Dirty silverware.. cheese dip not heated up all the way. Chips are cold. Very little ice in the glasses. Waitress wasn't back around to check about 20 minutes. The place is clean and looks really good. Food wasn't hot when it arrived at the table. Tortilla shells in the aluminum was served on top of food.. seen in photo. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant. Looks good on the outside. There's lots of better Mexican restaurants around there.

This is a new Mexican restaurant to open in Bartlett. It's a beautifully designed space and has lots of room for patrons. There's an outside patio as well. The staff were friendly and attentive. We went around 7 PM and were able to be seated quickly. The food was average. Not bad in any way but not as flavorful as I had hoped it would be. I had taquitos and hubby had fajita nachos. Overall, I would definitely recommend checking it out!

My little brother has been to Lopez Grill twice already, so I decided to join him for his third time, and my first time trying it. The parking lot of the restaurant was packed, but luckily, we were able to find a parking spot. Even though the restaurant was packed, we were able to get a seat in less than 10 minutes. The restaurant was very clean, and it was nice looking at all the decorations on the wall. They gave us chips and salsa when we sat down. I ordered a side of queso to go along with it. I haven't eaten that much today, and the chips and queso were so good that I feel like I was Pac-Man when I kept eating them. I ordered the Grande Steak Burrito. The Grande Steak Burrito was topped with Queso, and the steak and grilled onions were seasoned perfectly. I put more queso in the burrito, and I was just in another world. Also, when I saw that they have Fried Ice Cream on the menu, I knew I needed to try it. The Fried Ice Cream was a perfect ending to my evening.

Tasty meal with fast service. This location is new and it's been pretty busy. Still, we were seated quickly and provided good service. Plenty of chips and salsa to start and quick and helpful service. Food was good, I enjoyed it well enough. Casual vibe, I didn't try any drinks so cannot comment there.

I came in on a rainy day for lunch. It was pretty busy but I was seated quickly. I really like the new location. It is more spacious than before. The building is newly built. I ordered fajita quesadilla lunch special. My Waiter checked in frequently. Sometimes I didn't even see him walk up. The service was great the food was good, and this is one of my favorite places.

I truly love an extremely good margarita and Lopez Grill didn't disappoint us. When we first walked through the front door the atmosphere had a good vibe and the host was very appreciative. My party of three and I enjoy a good quesadilla and Lopez didn't disappoint us at all ( honestly their steak, chicken and beef quesadillas were the best I have had in quite a while). They were served hot, seasoned and served with several slices. For some reason most restaurants serve a quesadillas like a large taco; not Lopez Grill ( it's served the correct way). Now; let's talk about the margaritas...we ordered 2 pitchers of margaritas ( frozen and on the rocks ). The drinks were so good that we couldn't finish no more than half of the second one. Take my word this is my first and last time I will leave a half pitcher of margarita behind . Since this is a new establishment we decided to go on a weekday. The weekends are extremely crowded and busy.. I have now found my new and favorite Mexican Restaurant...

First time experiencing this restaurant Great location in Bartlett! Had high hopes for this new restaurant. Food: disappointed about the burrito special on their Jesus Maria Lunch menu. It's priced fairly at $9.49 but there is not much to brag about. It did not seem "special" and the only thing that separates this from their burrito supreme is that one comes with rice & bean and the other does not. The food was lukewarm, not enough meat (real skimpy) and the ground beef was not appeasing (it look like canned dog food). Other than that the flavor was just okay! Their chips and salsa were the highlight of this meal. Overall, I hate wasting money on second chances so I will not recommend or return to this restaurant. Not impressed and I feel there's other Mexican themed restaurants that have better flavor. Service: mediocre Ambiance: casual, clean Parking can be a challenged during lunch hour.

Second time here and I must say, it was actually scary awful. You wouldn't know by the look from the outside. The first time we came they were freshly opened and the food and quality was decent and the service was good. Unfortunately, the food was awful and the service was absolutely non existent. Food we ordered was low on meat and had plenty of veggies. The tomatoes they were using were canned... I hate to leave a bad review but something needs to change here. This place is newly built and it's very nice. Someone definitely had a dream, and put a lot of time and money into making this restaurant happen. I hope they get some better quality food and some better help or atleast more staff.

Our check with a credit card charge. We paid cash.

November 30, 2024. Our first time dining here. The chips and salsa were good. Chips fresh, salmon to spicy. We did add some salt and a squeeze of lime, made it better. My wife and I had different entrees. Both were very tasty. We recommend this restaurant. Having said that we probably won't come here often as we would have to drive past our favorite Mexican restaurant to get here. The charge on our bill for using a credit card was a mistake as we paid cash.

Delicious and huge chicken tortilla soup! Yum, yum!

I have been a couple of times and both were excellent. My first visit was for lunch and I ordered from the lunch menu. The food was good, service was prompt and the margaritas were fabulous! My second visit was for dinner and it was super busy! We were seated as soon as we walked it. It was absolutely freezing inside so I ordered the soup and a taco, my husband had the steak and chicken fajitas. The soup was sooo good and large enough for at least 3 people. My husband enjoyed his very large portion of fajitas and we took enough food home with us for dinner the next day! Our server, Denise could not have been better. My only complaint was the very cold temperature. Prices were extremely reasonable and we are already planning our next visit. I will bring my sweater along this time!

I tried Salaama for dinner tonight with my brother in law, and we really enjoyed our meal! Salaama…read moreis a market and restaurant, so you enter through the market entrance and then take a left turn to eat in the restaurant. The menu is small, with just five choices of entree for dinner. But we would have tried everything (goat, beef, chicken, salmon)! They were out of the goat, so we tried the beef stew/suqaar and the salmon. Both were served with rice with dried fruits and veggies and a side salad. Everything was very flavorful and delicious. We enjoyed both salmon and beef. I also tried the Somali tea (very sweet, but delicious). The restaurant isn't fancy, but it felt cozy and homey inside. The whole experience was really great. This might have been my first time eating Somali food (I'm not sure?), but my experience at Salaama will have me looking for more!

A couple of months ago, while using foursquare to check into the McDonald's on Covington Pike, I…read moresaw Salaama Market & Restaurant listed among the choices to check-in to. To satisfy my curiosity, I clicked the web link to see what kind of restaurant it was. Salaama is a convenience store, meat market, apparel shop and restaurant all combined as one, specializing in Somali culture. With this being in part an African restaurant, I felt compelled to try it out to see how it compared to similar restaurants I've visited. During my first visit, I decided to go with the Suqaar, a Somali Beef Stew. The entrée, which includes sides of spinach (which tasted like collard greens) and cabbage, consists of beef, carrots and onions. The stew is cooked in boiling water until everything is tender. I'm not sure what spices are used in this, but I detected a bit of garlic in it. If the primary ingredients used in this Suqaar dish are the same as what I researched on Google, they are garlic, cumin, cilantro and chicken bouillon cubes. The taste of the Suqaar is mildly spicy and similar to Yebeg Tibes, a lamb dish that I had at Abyssinia. In my opinion, the Suqaar is a really good dish that I thoroughly enjoyed. The Suqaar also comes with a plate of rice, which in quantity is more than the entrée. The rice is topped with corn, carrots, green peppers, raisins, green beans and other vegetables. In all, this medley of veggies produces a spicy sweet flavor that meshes well with the Suqaar. In terms of quantity, the rice mix by itself is enough for two people. With the main entrée and a salad thrown in, the meal is overwhelming for one person. I got as far as the salad and a small portion of both the Suqaar and rice mix before having to stop. I got the rest of it to-go and had it for dinner and the next day's lunch. The entire meal, that also includes a couple of bananas, cost $10. Outside of a buffet, you'll be hard pressed to get that much food at that price. For my second visit, I went to Salaama for breakfast to see what it was like. Although Salaama offers traditional menu items like egg omelets and pancakes, I decided to stick with the Somali theme and chose the Goat Liver plate. At $7.99, I assumed that the portion would be smaller than the Suqaar that I had earlier, but I was wrong. My plate, which initially was packaged as a to-go order, was almost as huge as the Suqaar. It had almost the same components as the Suqaar, with the goat liver substituting for the beef stew. I knew that I wasn't going to finish it, so I kept my to-go box nearby for leftovers. When my server saw that I intended to dine in the restaurant, she brought me a couple of plates for both the main entrée and side salad. Speaking of my server, she was very helpful in educating me about my order and was very attentive to my needs. This is totally the opposite of what I experienced at the recently closed Gereny, whose customer service was awful. Based on the customer service alone, Salaama gets high marks for excellence. As for the entrée itself, it was good although it lacked the spiciness that the Suqaar had. The goat liver didn't taste any different from what I've had from beef, which was surprising. Based on past experiences, I assumed that there would be a difference between the two types of meat. After thinking about it, I realized that both cattle and goats have the same diet, which mostly consists of grass and other plants. That said, the livers of both species should taste the same if they are processing the same foods. I guess I can chalk this up as a "duh" moment. The rice and other vegetables that accompanied the goat liver tastes pretty much the same as what I had with the Suqaar so I won't go into detail about it. Because I ordered it as a breakfast entrée, I could have chosen bread over the rice that might have reduced the entree's size. I decided not to do it when my server told me the bread was the plain white slices and not Injera (I know, Injera is Ethiopian). Along with my meal, I got a small cup of green pepper sauce that had a strong onion flavor. After trying a small sample, I decided against using it while at the restaurant but will indulge in it later. The side salad wasn't any different from my first visit, which combined with the other "sides" bolstered the goat liver that I came to enjoy. In all, my two experiences at Salaama Market & Restaurant were great. The meals were delicious and the people serving it were friendly and welcoming. The restaurant/market is off the beaten path both figuratively and literally, but I hope more people learn of this place and patronize it. It is businesses like Salaama that makes Memphis diverse and a great place to live. I hope that Salaama has a lot of success in the future.
