My wife and I truly love this place. We moved to Bartlett about five years ago, and every time we walk into Side Porch, it feels like more than just a restaurant--it feels like home. You look around and see familiar faces, families, people from the community... it just has that kind of warmth you can't fake. With a small child, going out to eat can be a challenge, but this is one of the few places where we can actually relax and enjoy it. That alone means a lot to us. The steaks are reasonably priced and consistently flavorful. And honestly, the croutons (that sliced bread) are a big reason we keep coming back. They are simple but done really well. We always go for the Wisconsin cheese curds - they never miss. We tried the cowboy caviar once, and it just wasn't our thing, but everything else has been consistently solid. Side Porch is a great neighborhood steakhouse. It sits somewhere between family casual and upscale. The service was friendly and high quality. The drinks were better than I expected. The food was superb, especially the addictive croutons, but I didn't find the steaks impressive. My ribeye was cooked correctly (medium rare) but it still had some chewy bits. My girlfriend's filet was ordered medium rare, but came out rare and chewy. We should've sent it back but still I expect a steakhouse to cook a steak medium rare on the first try. I've been on a steak kick as of late. Did a search and found this gem. Let's start with that they take reservations, that's a big plus for me. Ours was at 6 and we arrived a few minutes before. We waited maybe 10 minutes and were seated. The restaurant was packed. Our server came to the table pretty quickly. She took our drink order and let us know the crouton were almost ready. FYI..the croutons are excellent. We ordered dinner, I had the small filet and the wife had the strip. Both were very flavorful as they are cooked in their marinade. From the time my party of 8 entered this restaurant the service received and the entire staff was outstanding. This was my first time visiting and I have to admit I was truly impressed. First time here and I am sad I didn't know about this place before. Stopped by to have dinner with friends and everyone was super friendly from the beginning. I got the steak salad and it was delicious. The croutons are addicting and the ribeye is also really good. For the price and the cuts of meat and service this place is a must. Small local restaurant in the heart of old Bartlett. We stopped in at 5:00 on a Saturday night without a reservation and the place was hopping. We had about a 30 minute wait due to all the early diners with reservations. We started with their complimentary croutons which were buttery goodness served with extra butter on the side. We had their fried pickles with ranch for an appetizer and they were pretty tasty with an amazing homemade ranch for dipping. I ordered the combination filet and blackened shrimp. Both the shrimp and the steak were excellent! I loved the marinade on the steak and the shrimp had a nice kick in the buttery sauce they were served with. Hubby had the ribeye and was a little disappointed that it was on the lean side and wished it had a bit more marble to it. The meal was served with a side of their rolls, but we probably would have preferred more croutons because they are just that good. Me and my husband had dinner there tonight and were so impressed with the service. Lily was our waitress and was so friendly and attentive. The restaurant has a cozy, clean, modern feel. For an appetizer we had the sausage and cheese plate. My husband had Big Dave's Chicken and I had the Grilled Pork Chops. Ask for them to put the marinade sauce on the side unless you really like Worcestershire sauce thick on it. Someone told me to get it on the side and I'm glad I did. To me the steak or chicken did not need anything else. The bacon around the steak was flavorful as well. I got dessert to take home since. Baked potato and just a plain salad were my two sides. There is parking but you have to maneuver around the wood and other building items. Started off an order of onion rings. Very fresh and crispy. We did share at the table. The basket of croutons with butter served before dinner was to DIE for. So good! I could have eaten those only and been happy. We had different beverages. I had the unsweetened tea. It was okay. My friends had diet beverages. I ordered the steak salad with Italian dressing. The steak was prepared rare and had some fat on it. It was a 6 oz ribeye. The salad was an iceberg mix with carrots and purple cabbage. I prefer a romaine or spring mix. It was alright. I took most of it since I got full on the appetizers. The service was excellent. Hiya folks! Tonight, we decided to hit one of the neighborhood joints we were told about. This place used to be someone's house that they converted into a restaurant (so I was told). Honestly, I didn't do my research. More to the point, it's a nice family type atmosphere, there's a bar where you can sit and have libations while you wait on your table. Be advised... make a reservation cuz sat evenings this place is BUSY! We were seated right away. Our server,Liam, greeted us with a warm smile and dropped a basket of delicious bread before taking our orders. Warm croutons with a crispy crust, soft and buttery in the middle, yum! We both chose the bacon wrapped filet (8 and 12oz, respectively )a baked potato, loaded baked potato, and fried mushroom appetizer along with a ceasar salad. The food came out probably in under 10 minutes, everything coming out just right. The fried shrooms were nice and golden brown, juicy. The salad was fresh, with just enough dressing. The steaks were supposed to have been cooked medium rare, and they were spot on! There was a nice thick slice of bacon wrapped around the juicy, sexy looking steak. The meal was delicious, albeit the plating was, eh, but hey, you're in a family environment, right? The prices were about par with good steak houses. The only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is because of the young ladies at the front. They were very friendly and pleasant, except for the gum chewing. I may be nitpicking, but as hostesses, I don't think that's appropriate. I point this out in any establishment I'm in, whether it's the Home Depot, Kroger, or the gas station. If you have to greet, speak with the public or customers, don't have a wad of anything in your mouth. It really takes you and the establishment down a notch. I was so happy to hear that Side Porch was open again that I had to make a stop on my most recent trip home. It's been a staple in my family's Bartlett restaurant rotation for as long as I can remember. My first question I asked when I heard Side Porch was reopening -- will they still have their famous bread croutons? And oh yes they do and they are just as good as I remember. After eating way too many of the aforementioned croutons (of which two baskets are complimentary), we moved on to fried mushrooms and mozzarella sticks -- yes, this was a very indulgent meal. I'm not a huge fan of mushrooms, but the chipotle ranch dip served with them was quite tasty. The mozzarella sticks were larger than I remember and just as good. I do wish they had been served with marinara sauce, but that didn't slow me down. The side salad that came before my entree was an average salad bolstered by that oh-so-good "restaurant ranch" (nothing from the grocery store can compare). The lettuce mix, tomato and shredded cheese needed no croutons (obviously). For my entree, I settled on the 8 oz filet which was brought to the table undercooked. However, our waitress took it back to the kitchen and brought it back cooked medium well just as I ordered. The steak was flavorful thanks to subtle seasoning and the mouthwatering marinade (I highly recommend asking for extra -- it's that good). For my side, I went with my childhood favorite -- steak fries -- rather than a more adult-appropriate baked potato, but hey, you only live once. To finish our meal, we tried one of the specials, German chocolate pie, made by the mother of one of the owners. I struggle with coconut, but everyone else in the group raved about it. The other pies looked amazing, so I'll have to try those next time I go. The interior decor of the restaurant received a much-needed refresh while it was closed, but it still retains its southern charm. I liked the community-donated salt-and-pepper shakers at each table. Small details like that stick with you long after your meal is done. Side Porch is a Bartlett treasure, and I'm so glad it has reopened. I look forward to many more meals here. We ate at Side Porch 9/18/25 with a guest from out of town. We were impressed with the service folks and the dinner salads were super. But the meat, advertised as a 6 and 12 oz filet, was: tough, overcooked (we asked for medium rare), and had no acquaintance with a beef filet. Both the 6 oz and 12 oz were pretty much the same size. The meat marinade was mostly Worcester sauce. Our daughter's salmon was also overcooked. A dessert "key lime" pie was an over-sweet sweetened condensed milk refrig pie with no lime of any sort flavor. $9.00 baked potato was on the cool side of hot. Our server (Liam) was polite and attentive. Our order was taken quickly and the food arrived without much wait. My spouse had the new York Strip (medium rare) and loaded baked potato. I had the porterhouse with a side of fried okra. Both our steaks were cooked perfectly, and arrived at the perfect temperature. Her potato was well loaded. Now the not-so-good. While both steaks were cooked to perfection, they douse the steaks in a finishing sauce that I think has A.1. in it. If you like that, you'll be fine, but I would have liked the steak so much more without it. I'd easily give them another star without that sauce on the steak. Additionally, the fried okra was extremely bland. Like everything else they were well cooked and the texture was fantastic but there was no seasoning in the breading. Went on a Thursday night with my grand daughters,who are teens. Restaurant was a little busy but manageable. Once seated which was right in front of hostess stand where the manager was helping them waitress came to get order 15 minutes later. She did bring drinks right away with bread . 20 minutes later we received steaks . Timing was not an issue it was quality my steak and my grand daughters was over cooked and no flavor. I tried to get waitress attention and manager but they were running around . She finally came back and asked if we needed a to go box I said no the steak was not good . She totally ignored me and handed me the check. I am a GM of a very busy and longstanding restaurant so I normally would not put this on here. I hope the manager and server sees this and needs to be aware of the surroundings in the restaurant. If someone is not eating their food ask them if everything is alright. Servers and manager walked by me at least three times and I tried to get their attention. Side Porch is slammin good! After one meal, I think it might be a favorite. Maybe one thing I like is the nostalgic feel to it all. Though renovated and reopened for a year now, the menu items, the atmosphere, and even the dishes take me back to a childhood restaurant that specialized in home cooking. Drinks are served in mason jars. All the food is plated on old-fashioned, blue-plate special style dishes. The croutons that arrive at the table are simply sliced rolls, buttered and toasted. They are super good. The salad that comes with a meal is put together well for an iceberg lettuce salad. I told you... An old-fashioned touch. I ordered the ribeye and loaded baker. The ribeye tasted like it had a short soak in a marinade that included Worcestershire. The grill marks were perfect. The medium rare meat was nicely marbled and super tender, just the way I wanted it. Though a couple of my table mates asked for A1, it was not needed. In my opinion, the steak had great flavor. The baker was really good too. I don't ordinarily order dessert. However, every dessert they described sounded like it came from a Baptist Church cookbook from the 70s. I ordered a piece of cake to go. This one was a banana nut bread/cake cooked into layers with a peanut butter cream icing between the layers and also on the top. I heard great reviews from my coworkers so I decided to give it a try. It was fairly busy but it didn't take long to be seated. Scarlett was very personable, cool vibe all around. I'm sure everyone has heard about the croutons and they are delicious. My steak was cooked to requested temperature, medium. I would've liked a little more spice on the shrimp but it was still good. It's been a while since we've been able to dine at Side Porch. Not our choice, though, since they closed (temporarily) to make some serious improvements to the interior of the restaurant. When I walked in the door, I actually started to worry. I won't name the restaurants around town (but they know who they are) who have these incredible interiors (and exteriors), but have lackluster food. The quality being the bare minimum. People will eat some great food, awesome cuisine, killer grub....from a hole in the wall, dump of a place, but what the majority don't like is to eat sub fare food from some fancy bistro, steakhouse, diner. NOT THE CASE at Side Porch! They match the incredible food with a new interior to kick it up to where it should have been all along.
