The tech called and said it would be $850 plus $95 service fee so I called a friend who owns a company 150 miles away and said what should this cost to have my unit cleaned . He said $99-$175! ‍ So I put on Facebook any recommendations and got a one man show company that came and cleaned for $99 and no service charge fee. ‍‍‍ I do have to say when I called SOS to cancel my appointment to repair they waived the service charge fee after looking at my scenario so the company does have some good employees.

I put out for bids on an install of the ductwork and vents through the roof connecting to bathroom fans, and one through an exterior wall that would connect to a kitchen range. I received several responses from HVAC specialists knowing what the job entailed and providing a range of bids for the service. Manwill responded with a message refusing the service and telling me I need an electrician to do this installation. My electrician explicitly requested an HVAC specialist to run the new ductwork and connect the fans to the ventilation system. For being a longstanding business in the community, and a service that installs AC & heating systems requiring ductwork and ventilation, I was surprised they don't understand an electrician doesn't typically provide these HVAC services. I wouldn't have requested the service if I didn't know who I needed the service from. This indicated they most likely neglected to read the details of the request and assumed it was a small job they didn't want. Either way, with their lack of clarification prior to refusing the service, followed by their misinformation and misdirection to a different service altogether, I won't be requesting services from Manwill in the future. This isn't difficult because I've used them prior for annual maintenance calls and they're one of the most expensive HVAC providers in the state. Easy choice. Find another HVAC provider if you don't want to be dismissed or paying too much.

I was very impressed with his knowledge and he took the time to explain a couple of things to me as well. I took the annual service plan which is really nice. The previous HVAC company we used for five years didn't have a reasonable preseason tune-up price or annual service plan. Justin came within the time frame Black Diamond had given me and they kept me up-to-date on the day of service via both phone call and text message. Justin also put the covers on his shoes when he came in the house and I appreciate that as well. My son has used Black Diamond since 2016 when he bought his house in SLC and he has been really happy with their service, too. So I did check Yelp before calling them, but I had first-hand knowledge that they do a great job with fair prices. I'd also like to compliment the people who answer Black Diamond's phones 24/7.
