*UPDATE - After posting this review I did receive a call back and they sent someone out to look at and address the issue. The technician they sent, Gary, was very professional and did a great job of explaining the system and the issue. If I could give less than one star I would. I just purchased my furnace less than a year ago and it quit working on one of the hottest days in Salt Lake. I called for service on Friday and was told that the soonest they would be able to get someone out would be Monday. Leaving me to either have to spend additional money that should be covered under warranty or wait until Monday with temperatures expected to be over 100 all weekend. Incredibly horrible customer service. I would definitely not recommend them to anyone as they will leave you to fend for yourself after giving them thousands of dollars for a new unit. read more

This was not a great experience! I needed (1) outlet repaired. What I got was a huge hole in the kitchen cabinets and sheet rock and a big piece of conduit on the back of my house. The person really was not qualified to do the trouble shooting of the problem and the fix will have to be redone at additional cost by a qualified electrician. They charged $818.00 for the repair, did not fix the damage that they caused which was unnecessary in the first place, and tried to sell us on additional electrical work. The outrageous price. $20,000 for a tiny condo And less than 1 year it stopped working. It was 105 degrees! It took three service people to finally get it working. Samuel did it. Got it working the first day and came back to check on it. It's still working and he straightened out the thermostat that I asked the installers to fix. Express Home Services has been nothing but a great experience for me. I have to give a shout out to Rocky as he is the one who came out and expertly placed a new HVAC system in my house during the winter , and got my AC going now that summer is rolling in. I knew I would need an HVAC system at some point, as mine was very old, however, they were really good with giving me all my options and would even fix the old one if I wanted. No pressure at any point to go all in and replace the whole system like I did. Rocky came over, and stayed late just to get it all wrapped up so that I would have heat. I wish I remembered my own review on google because I would have avoided this company had I remembered that this is the exact reason that I originally hated using this company. Jeremy came out for a leak in our plumbing and I was quoted a very expensive solution to my leak. $589 bucks for a simple leak of a valve. I googled a tri-valve connector and saw that there were multiple options for 23 dollars. I asked how long it would take and he said under an hour! I said 'don't insult me if the part you need is really cheap is that all for labor?' I said this because he was blaming part costs for the expensive quote. He was very rude and left immediately mumbling a few things under his breath and was very annoyed. Then I called B and D plumbing in the same area and they fixed the leak for 39 bucks. My bathroom sink was draining slowly. I cleaned the p trap myself, but that didn't help. I called Express Home Services and they came out the same day. The employee used a snake to clear the drain. He was in my house 10 minutes at most. The charges were $350.00!!!!! I felt it was highway robbery, so I called and talked to the owner who was unwilling to reduce the charges. I will not be using their services again!! Addendum: One of the co-owners reached out and after further discussion, we were able to reach an amicable solution. Ok, I used an angies list voucher, YUCK! they didn't do the check up I requested, They just said, bad mother board and bad fan over $1,000 to fix, They also threw the blown fuse on the ground and didn't tell us about it. Terrible. We have used Humphrey's for a lot of our heating and a/c needs over the last two years. I haven't been overly impressed although they've gotten the job done. Once i select a company i usually try to stick with them and show some loyalty - which I've done. We called yesterday because our heater went out. It started blowing cold air into our already frigid house. They were able to get a tech out same day who assessed for 20 minutes and said he was 99% sure it was a sensor issue, but he couldn't repair it tonight because he needed diagnostics to confirm. He then said diagnostics was closed for the night and proceeded to pack his items up to leave. He left us for the night (snow falling) without any heat. We froze inside our house, but he had promised to call us back first thing in the morning after he talked to diagnostics. Flash forward to today and we still haven't had a call. We have called Humphreys our self three times and got the run around. They keep telling us they'll call us back and naturally NO ONE DOES. Thankfully we called Craig's Heating and Air who classified our situation as an emergency given is 29 degrees out and raining got the job done. I'll now forever avoid Humphrey's. My furnace would turn on for only about ten mins at a time then it would shut off until I rebooted the switch again. I think it wasn't talking to my new Nest system very well. Called Humphrey's and they came out same day and took care of me and figured out the issue. It's good to find a good honest company nearby to my house in Bountiful. We needed AC installed for the high heat summer. The estimator who came out was amazing in how much he knew about the industry and what we would need. He actually took the time to calculate our AC needs (alot of other companies skipped this step). Gave us a wide selection of options and let us know which ones would save us hundreds of dollars. We ended up going with a different company, but they helped us make the best choice and avoid the low ball corner cutting bids and the scammers. They give you options and don't just try and hard sell you on the most expensive solution. The communication was an issue, but understandable. The company responded best to text and email. Never did get them to answer the phone. Their tech (Jacob) that came to my house day 1, just did a "quick fix", 2 hours after he left, the issue resumed. Day 2 he showed up. Left because of a communication between landlady and company. He told the Landlady that someone had welded the system since he was last there. The system was as he left it. When Chad was contacted he said that if there was a negative review it would be "unjustly". Well an employee who does a half baked job, then blames a made up issue for the continued issue, is dishonest. I am not sure of the other techs, but Jacob needs to be watched. Make sure he is inspects the system. He ran up a bill and did nothing to fix the issue. He is no better than a used car salesman. communication issues are understandable, and i hold nothing against the owner or other employees for the communication issue. Can't speak to their actual plumbing ability, because they quoted the job at $1500, which was very overpriced. Just had some leaking below the bathroom sink where some corrosion was causing some problems. Paid them the $ (I think $70) for the diagnosis, then they said it would cost $1500. At that point I called my dad's plumber. He did it for around $250-$300. read more

When my A/C failed, I knew it was aging and probably needed to be replaced. Humphrey Heating and Cooling was able to send a representative the next day to provide an estimate for repair/replacement. Chad arrived on-time for our appointment and discussed a couple of options up-front. I also obtained estimates from two other companies that week. The competitors were not as responsive as Chad who was prompt to call me back to answer my follow-up questions. Ultimately Humphrey's replaced both my A/C and Furnace over a two-day period. Their crew arrived on-time the scheduled day of replacement and they took care in laying down drop-cloths to ensure nothing was tracked in on the carpets. They cleaned up after themselves so that everything looked the same when they left as when they arrived. Jason came back on day 2 to finish everything up and literally worked his arse off to complete the install by himself. Although he had to cut out some sheet rock to run additional electrical wiring outside, he gave me a subcontractor referral to repair it which worked out great. I highly recommend Humphries based on the excellent job. read more

It pains me to write this review, because I had a great experience when I had them replace my a/c and furnace last year, and so when I wanted to replace 3 toilets in my home and get my kitchen sink unclogged, I called Humphreys. This was about 3-months ago and their plumber came out and fixed the drain, and gave me a quote of $1,500 for the 3 toilets (upgrading to a larger diameter). We were not ready to change the toilets out yet until this week. They sent out a new guy who had replaced the previous plumber, BIG Mistake, don't know what the previous guy did to no longer work there, but much more people oriented and better representative of the company. New guy is an hour an a half late to show up when he calls me to tell me he will be there in another half an hour. He also states that he won't be able to get to my job today because he knows a couple of ladies who have been without hot water for over a week and he wants to take care of them instead of my concerns today, but he will stop by to look at the toilets today. I call the office and ask why am I getting pushed off until tomorrow, when I rearranged my schedule for today, and will be going out of town tomorrow evening? Nice young woman at the office says she will take care of it and calls him to let him know he needs to take care of the 2-ladies tomorrow. Guy shows up looks around at the sink and toilets, then wants to try and upsell me on replacing some items on my water heaters. Then tells me if he does the sink today and comes back tomorrow to do the toilets, he will have to charge me $130 today because it will now be on two work orders, but if I let him go take care of these 2-ladies water heater it will cost me less tomorrow because it will be all on the same ticket. They were supposed to be on the same ticket today. During his visit he made comments about how nice my house was, asked where I was going on my trip (Disney), and then tries to make me feel guilty about expecting the work to be done today as "who knows whether these two ladies got any Christmas presents and how they are probably not going to Disney, and how I need to look past my concerns to let him take care of theirs first. I told him he was done and we got into a yelling match on my front yard with me telling him to go screw himself (in the coarser vernacular). I then called and spoke to the same young lady and reported our interaction. She apologized, but they have lost my business and I would not recommend them for any plumbing needs. read more

On May 28 I called Humphrey Heating and Air to schedule an appointment for an AC tune-up and safety inspection. I made the appointment for later that day. I then called back about 20 minutes later to let them know that I had found a groupon for the same thing and that I purchased it and wanted to use it. She told me that services using groupon were being scheduled as a low priority and that she would have to change my appointment that was previously scheduled for that day to Friday, June 26 (a month out). I said fine. She told me that someone would be there between 10am-11am. On June 26 I arranged to work from home that day and rescheduled all my morning appointments to the afternoon. When no one had arrived or called by 12:15 I called them back. Apparently there had been some A/C emergency and no one was available to let me know that they wouldn't be there on time. The secretary (Amy) told me that they didn't call me because they were dealing with the emergency, but apparently she somehow knew. Not sure why she didn't call me. Eventually she understood my frustration and found someone else in the field that could help me and told me that he would be out to my house around 4pm. At 4:15 when I hadn't heard from anyone I called them back and Amy apologized. About 4:45 the tech (Justin) finally called me to tell me that he would be to my house around 5:30. I explained that I had to leave at 5:30 because I had a family dinner that I needed to be at. Justin made excuses and told me that I (who had an appointment scheduled a month out) wasn't as high of a priority as someone who didn't have an A/C when it's 100 outside (apparently waiting until the last minute to get an AC is an emergency). Which to me means, my $100 tune-up wasn't as high as a priority as a $800+ AC install. I will not use Humphrey Heating and Air and I don't recommend them to anyone. Horrible way to do business and horrible way to treat customers. read more

I bought a home this summer and to my surprise, the ACs did not work when I moved in. On one of the hottest days of the summer. I called several places that had good reviews, hoping to go with Humphrey (they had some of the best). The receptionist was so kind, and fortunately for me, they worked me in to their busy schedule and were able to install brand new ACs in no time flat. They hire fantastic employees who care about doing a stellar job and are extremely conscientious about getting everything JUST right (even to the point of making everything fit together neatly and making it look aesthetically pleasing, in addition to making it functional, of course!). All of the employees I interacted with were very professional, knowledgeable, and trustworthy. Chad and Nick run a fantastic business and clearly only hire the best. Several wonderful workers came to get the jobs done. One who especially stood out was Chris, who worked to make everything impeccable with my new ACs and my new furnaces. As just one example of what made Chris great, there was a hole in the ceiling around the ductwork, where insulation could fall down. I didn't say anything about it, but he noticed it while he was working, and out of the kindness of his heart, he fixed the hole that was there beforehand and didn't even say anything about it! It's little touches like that that let you know you went with the right company. You probably heard me mention furnaces too. Turns out the house I bought also needed new furnaces (they were 26 years old). I received several estimates, but I really wanted to go with Humphrey since they did such a great job on my ACs. They offered the best price, and my 2 new furnaces are so quiet! Their warranty plan is wonderful, as well; it's clear this company stands behind their products. Buying new ACs and new furnaces is a big investment, and I like to do my research before calling any repair company. This one exceeded what I even hoped for. Chad gave me options on repair and replacement and explained to me why doing the repair would just be a patch as my furnace was 30 years old.
