The Lotawana location is fine, always good and the staff is cool. However the Grain Valley location is about as bad as it gets and I'm sure as a stand alone would become a statistic and go out of business. The servers weren't rude or anything just might as well have not been there. I'm not sure there was anyone working in the kitchen and both orders (after waiting an hour and 10 mins for bar food) were wrong. $51 for a sad grey patty on bread where a burger with everything should be and 5 wings instead of the advertised 6 is a little disappointing to say the least. So far it's not bad. First time in and was here for my girlfriends daughters boyfriends birthday party. From what I've seen and smelled it looks good . Will update date more as the night progresses. After trying the Gator bites and decent service, I'll definitely be back. Their pizza looked good as well. Nice large outdoor area for crowds, last night the breeze and the fans kept it cool. Be prepared to wait. Stopped here on a Thursday evening just about 7:30 pm. We were a party of 3 with an additional to-go order. Our drink orders were prompt, accurate, and kept full. We placed our order and waited well over an hour. At it was about 8:45, we finally asked if our food could just all be boxed up to take home as it was getting late. The server was very sweet and apologetic. She had popped by several times to tell us she was checking on our food. Food: 1) mix of appetizers. Reported it as very good. 2) create your own pizza. Reporter as very good. 3) fish and chips (sweet potato fries) was very tasty, even reheated the next day as it was too late to eat at 9 pm. 4) was disappointed the restaurant was out of burnt ends, ordered buffalo Mac instead. This is a casual sports bar atmosphere with your standard sports bar food, apps and adult beverages. What I found to be stellar was the food and service. If you're going to do bar food, do it well. We LOVE Captain's at the Lake so we were thrilled to get one here in Grain Valley!! We finally got the chance to go try the new location last night. Overall, a solid performance, but not as good as the original. The place was packed, which was good to see. Lots of TVs and a really pretty bar right in the middle. We we walked in and the hostess was on the phone taking an order. We waited 5 or so minutes before she was off the phone and able to seat us. Our server was nice, but there were a few large parties dining at the same time, so we didn't get quite the level of service we've come to expect from the Lake location. We had nachos to start and then shared a wing platter with fries. The wings are one of the main reasons we love Captain's so much and these were right up there with the ones at the Lake. They could have used a tad more sauce, but still delicious. And those fries are so dang good!!! The nachos were good. Nothing outrageously special but still good. My margarita was pretty decent, too. Will definitely be back since we love the food and it's awesome that it's so close. Hopefully the service will improve a bit, but overall a solid performance. read more

This place blew me away! I had came to Captains with a larger group and there were very minimal things that I felt need corrected and they were so small I wont even go into them. I really enjoyed the quality of food and portions sizes compared to the prices. This place is not overly expensive and the service we received was quick and all employees there were friendly! I go there on the regular and they have really good food and awesome people, They also do music bingo every Tuesday night at 7 PM and give out prizes like glasses and bandanas, and all kinds of cool stuff. This bar and grill also has a golden tee that is by the bar which is very convenient. And 2 dart boards. The service here is also outstanding! read more

We went in a Friday night, they were so busy that we had to sit at the bar which was fine with us. Definitely has a "Sports Lounge" vibe to it. Our servers/bartenders were super attentive, friendly, and helpful. The house marg was tasty. The food was also delicious. My burger was super juicy. The Mac and cheese has queso in it so it has a little kick to it, but it was creamy and delicious as well. We will be back to try more menu items! read more

They were crowded, but the floor and table management and service was really poor, Dakota was seating couples at 4 & 6 tops, while leaving parties of 4 waiting over an hour. Alex, the Mgr. had an open table and used stools at the bar and watched them chase a party of 4 off that table when the moved stools to it, only to see Dakota set 3 women who sat there over an hour with the same drinks they brought in from the patio. The staff was really rude. When our party was seated the waitress was terse and had a really hard time taking the order - all of us had to repeat and explain what we wanted. 2 of the 4 of us received meals, no silverware. 5 minutes later the 3rd plate arrived and silverware. 5 minutes after that the 4th plate finally arrived. The food was good - Burger, and Burnt end mac / cheese. Waitress didn't apologize or acknowledge the delivery problems. It seemed like this was her first waitress job. After we finished she did offer us water in the plastic Captain go cups. Also if you pay with credit cards, watch the mobile pay when you are checking out. Public drunkenness, dirty menu, dirty table, food(Cubano) not good at all, beer was served in a glass that tasted like soap, Jackson county is under a mask mandate and most staff and customers were not wearing masks.
