No handle bars or seat in the shower of the "handicapped accessible room". This is a HUGE problem because there is literally no way for a wheelchair user to take a shower, and also is a potential fall hazard for disabled folks, even if they can stand. Someone is going to get injured in a fall and Hyatt will get sued. Also, the front desk woman when we checked in around 5 PM on July 6 needs to be trained in how to respectfully treat disabled guests - she came up behind me and pushed my wheelchair even though she had just been told by my companion that I did NOT want help going up the ramp. She should have respected that. This really upset me. The distance between the front desk and the elevators to the rooms is very far for a wheelchair user. The door to the "handicapped accessible room" is barely wide enough for a wheelchair, and there is no way to keep it open when entering - so the wheelchair user has to contfbd with a door trying to close on him/her when struggling to get through. Lastly, due to the extremely long distance from elevators to the lobby, ordering food is a nightmare. Why oh why do they not have room service?? Or have hotel staff run a food delivery to the room? They expect disabled people to just not eat?? read more

We'd stayed here a few years ago and while quirky (super slow valet service and odd check in procedure), I liked the in lobby bar/small bites area. Now they've done away with the bar altogether and have merged the check in and valet service with the next door hotel (the Hyatt Centric). While this was fine, and the people are super friendly, there wasn't any information about this new procedure (at least that I saw), which resulted in some wandering back and forth between the two hotels. Again, not a huge issue, just odd. My main complaint is the beds are extremely (and I mean extremely) uncomfortable! No mattress support whatsoever, creaky, and the pillows feel like they're filled with sand. So bad, that we decided to check out a day early (though we'd paid for two nights with no refund) and checked into a different hotel (The Peabody). The Beck and Call bar/restaurant in the Hyatt Centric is delicious however. Excellent shrimp and grits. read more

Well, first of all- yah! To be the first to write a review. I'm here to say Tenisha made my experience better than I ever could imagined. My fiancé and I came down for a few days for work, and she just really impressed us! And it really wasn't what she did for us, but more so of what she did for OTHER people. We travel a lot, and been to a lot of hotels.. Most people just do what their job requires of them. But she really does go above and behind for every customer she touches. It made us smile. A whole lot. During our stay here, we literally worked the entire day, had a few meals to eat and she was there every single time... never complaining, taking extra shifts and covering for people. It was so impressive how she kept her positive energy. She's also an inspiring person and I know she will go far- in whatever career choice she desires! As for the hotel- I think there's a lot of pros and cons... but I'll leave it for other customers to voice their opinion. I just know if they are lucky enough to have crossed path with Tenisha during their stay- I'm sure their experience has evaluated. read more

I absolutely loved this hotel. One night stay. Terrific location between the mighty Mississippi and Beale Street. First, the inside of the hotel was beautiful. I was able to check in online, which was perfect. I love to my room. Everything in the room was positioned so nicely and conveniently for the guest. Looked like they took a great amount of time to please the client. Exceptional shower and bathroom. Everyone I met was incredibly friendly and I wish I could have stayed longer. Minimal interaction with any of the staff, other than the front desk to check in and the valet to leave my car. Beautiful fruit plate and note left by the GM in my suite. This place was in a great location! We weren't in town for pleasure so unfortunately we didn't get to explore the area too much but if you're here for the downtown experience it's a great location. I wouldn't say this is family friendly hotel. More of a here for a good time crowd. It's really trendy here so it was hard to locate the front desk lol.. it's just a table in the middle of what looks like a coffee-bar. It took them a while to find our reservation so we had to wait a long time however we were offered a free beverage at the bar which was really nice. The staff was friendly. The room felt a bit cold and not in a temperate kind of way. It could use a rug or something more cozy but I guess it goes with the trendy theme from in the lobby. The shower wasn't functional, there is no separation between the shower and the floor to the bathroom so the water just goes EVERYWHERE. The sink was the same... it looked nice just wasn't functional. read more

Located in downtown Memphis, the Caption utilizes a clean design with pops of color and great lighting. Plenty of comfortable seating and a pool table for guests are in the lobby. The design is clearly targeted at Gen-Z & Gen-Alpha, which was a smart choice. While I'm not the targeted demographic, I saw a wide range of customers and the vibes were solid. Kudos to the staff, who were all friendly and very helpful. Aquarius recommended a great breakfast spot "Arcade Restaurant", a throwback diner off of Main St. The Caption is a great option for travelers who want an inviting space and aren't looking for all of the bells and whistles of a 4-5* at 2-3x the price. It was perfect for a last minute booking, though the lack of room service was something I didn't think to check. They are connected to another hotel and between the properties they have a rooftop option and another one, both stay open to 10pm or 11pm. The rooms are pretty basic, but the aesthetic is fun and everything was clean and fresh. No noise issues and the bed was really comfortable. The bathroom was a decent size and the rainfall shower was above average. The shower door was loose and the sink drain had an issue (thus losing 1 star), but those were minor things. I just Uber'd there, so I don't know about parking, but the walkability is awesome. Downtown is right there, as is the park (for concerts and events). There are a bunch of food dining options within walking distance, most things are within 1-5 blocks. Anyone looking to stay downtown and they don't want another boring Marriott, Caption is a solid option. read more

Nice hotel with good amenities. Initial parking for valet was confusing because it's all labeled for the connecting hotel. Once we got that figured out it was convenient. The check in process was smooth and the rooms are nice. We had a corner room with nice views of the river and bridge. It is a really short walk to Beale Street which was a plus. The only complaint I have is the valet parking moves to the other hotel after hours. Our first morning we had a reservation for breakfast at 7. I sent a text requesting the car at 6 got a reply at 6:20 saying to come downstairs because a valet wasn't available to retrieve our car. We went down and found a valet who was trying his best to get all the vehicles. We finally got our vehicle around 6:40 and made it to the restaurant just before our reservation. The next two days we got our car fairly quick. Overall we really enjoyed our stay and I would stay here again. read more

I must say...this hotel ended up impressing us. Came home for the holidays ...from Charlotte. We'd definitely return and my feedback is below: 1. The location is great in downtown Memphis...with walking access to all the leisurely points. The front entrance seems to be in the back which is weird. 2. The hotel lobby is awesome. It has an electric modern chill vibe lounge vibration. Perfect for working or cocktails and convo w friends. Had breakfast, which was delectable and sat down there for drinks on Friday night. Rachel, the bartender, was engaging, professional, innovative, and pleasant. She made great drinks and did a great job. In the evening they have a dj and it becomes quite lively and fun. Loved it! 3. The Room is nice & clean with an attempt at minimalist eclectic. Our room was spacious w a decent view of the river and well lit Memphis bridge. My only critique would be more counter space or a microwave. But the bed felt great! 4. The access to the Hyatt Centric is also a plus. We walked next door to their nice lobby bar and then went to Beck & Call rooftop bar/lounge which is absolutely immaculate! They are ridiculously over priced though. I had a Burger and drink it was $50, after they piled on every sales tax, liquor tax, 20% tip, and a tourist trap fee. It pretty much ruined the experience & prolly won't return there. 5. They gym on the 2nd floor was great also. Spacious, clean, and great equipment. I was so impressed I took a pic! Lol. Overall I'd definitely stay here at Caption again when I return to my hometown of Memphis. I definitely recommend it! read more

This was a very different experience than I ever experienced. First off, Tenisha (the concierge) was very helpful, thoughtful and fun! She made my stay very safe, and many others feel welcomed. I love seeing her in action. She made so many smiles on so many of the customers face and I loved seeing it. The hotel itself was very different, like I said before. Not knowing what to expect or compare to. All I know is.. if you had Tenisha helped you... I'm sure you stay was great and elevated! That girl needs a raise and a promo! Asap!! The hotel itself was nice, clean, and welcoming. Love the ice lattes. The girl who made mines during my way (long dark hair), was very friendly as well. Enjoyed the food and reasonably priced drinks. This could easily be a five-star location. The lobby/cafe is very cute and spacious. Valet parking is available ($32) as well as a garage ($12) just across the street. The rooms are spacious and have a fun style to them. Everything is clean and well-maintained. Here's the issue: there is either a management issue, a staffing issue, or both. We arrived 15 minutes after check-in and were told our room wasn't ready; it was supposed to be a 30-minute delay at the longest. Two hours later, we still didn't have a room. The front desk repeatedly told us that they had no idea when the room would be ready. While we were waiting, I asked Expedia to put some pressure on the hotel so that we could know if we needed to just relocate. The front desk hung up on Expedia after a few minutes, even though the person at the front desk wasn't helping anyone else. Finally, after 2+ hours and multiple calls from Expedia, we had our room. On the morning of checkout, our door malfunctioned and we couldn't get back in. Out dogs were also locked in the room (we had both made a quick trip to the car) while we were stuck in the hallway waiting. No maintenance personnel could help, and we were told an engineer would need to fix this. We spoke to the front desk who said the engineer would be "right there". Another 35 minutes passed while we sat on the hallway floor. We asked for the manager on duty who came up to tell us that the engineer was on his way. It took over 45 minutes in total just to get back in our room. This hotel has an easy five stars if it can just figure out that its guests are the ones doing the reviews. read more

This was a business trip! My stay was absolutely amazing! The hotel lobby was very eclectic, clean lines, and eye catching as soon as you walk in! The Hotel scent diffusers smelled so fresh, so clean; it literally made you feel so relaxed. The room numbers were crafted whimsically by stenciling them vertically in large print next to the door!! I had a room on the 10th floor that gave me a BEAUTIFUL VIEW OF THE RIVER with the sunlight casting over the river at night, breathtaking! The furniture in the room so wonderfully picked with a great deal of thought to details; perfectly designed! The staff that I interacted with was nothing short of AMAZING! I checked in on May 1st at around 930am and the young lady ( I didn't get her name) was so very helpful, kind, professional and was able to check me in early! Ms Alex, worked the front desk in the evenings May 1st/2nd and she was very kind and noticed that I was a little overwhelmed and was so kind and helpful in assisting me making sure I had everything I needed and went the extra mile to actual get me those things! The Valet(Ms. Bri) was Extremely helpful and very kind and helpful with providing me information to assist with making sure I had the information needed to get a police report from a customer offsite location hitting my rental car; she was soooooooo kind and helpful and I really appreciate the extra effort she took to make sure I had everything I needed!, Also, Ms DeAira ( Caption Restaurant/bar) she was so quick to assist and very professional! Her kindness did not go unnoticed as well as her helpfulness and her beautiful personality! These 4 beautiful women are the type of employees you need that go over and beyond because the care about the guests! Please reward them with something nice, please! They REALLY deserve it! Great new and modern hotel within walking distance of Beale Street, The Mississippi River and The National Civil Rights Museum. My wife and I stayed 2 nights in a comfortable and chique room with a high tech tv, nice shower and perfect king bed. We had a corner room with views east and south. USB ports for the phones and devices. The staff is friendly as can be and very helpful. They have a nice bar with good food and great morning coffee. We will definitely would stay again if we get back out to Memphis. Highly recommend. read more

Two stars only because the room was cute. For the price point ($180/night at the time of our stay, the service was some of the worst I've experienced). The employee who assisted with check-in incorrectly told me that my room was already paid for - I had booked a couple months prior and did not recall if I had paid it off. I handed over my debit card for the incidental hold and lo & behold, the entire cost of the stay was removed from my account. No one was able to help nor were they apologetic for sharing misleading information. Got over this in order to enjoy my trip, until night 2. Returned to the room at about 8 pm after being away all afternoon & evening to find that our room hadn't been serviced. Was told that unless requested at check-in, the room would only be serviced every 3rd night. Did check-in employee make any mention of this? Absolutely not. I had already extended this property some grace after the billing fiasco & would have been willing to return on a future stay. However, this is my first & last stay at Centric by Hyatt Memphis. read more

Had to wait until 3pm for our room, then once in the room...the TV was not hooked up to cable, black long hairs on the bathroom floor, only one tissue in the tissue box, no soap in the shower, two burned out light bulbs, another fixture not plugged in and no clock in the room. Amazing place. We had never seen a hotel like it. Cool design, amazing view of the Mississippi, great location within walking distance of so many things in downtown Memphis. Very reasonably priced. Was everything perfect...no, but I would return or recommend this hotel in a second if traveling in Memphis!!! The biggest asset to this hotel is the staff. Pros: location right off Beale st is ideal. Clean room and lobby. Friendly staff. Cons: waited 15 min for a clerk to appear at registration desk to check in. Waited 20 min for a valet to get car...that is the way parking is handled at this hotel, unless you want to risk parking it on a street. Sink faucet was difficult to turn...mineral build up? Shower leaked water on the floor while door is closed, puddles when you step out. One bath towel for a room reserved by two. Pillows that were flat, stiff, hard and anything but "pillowy". If you want a morning cup of joe, you have to purchase it at the restaurant. Waited for thirty minutes for the valet to deliver car, after the required phone call you have to make to request delivery. For the price, simply not worth it. read more

I stayed here Aug. 2-4, 2024, and I cannot say enough wonderful things about this place. For starters the design and decor is gorgeous. It's got a very unique vibe. Modern, classy yet very cozy. As beautiful as the hotel is, what really makes the Caption by Hyatt a 5-Star establishment is the staff. OMG! I have never met so many happy, accommodating, warm and friendly people all in one place. Valentina greeted me at the front desk, helped with some packages I had sent there. All, and I mean all of the valet staff were amazing. The names that stand out are TJ, Terrell, and Quinton, but as I said, everyone was amazing. Even the lady cleaning the lobby and elevator was friendly. I didn't get her name but she was a doll, and funny too. I honestly felt at home and very comfortable there. It is also literally one block for the famous Beale Street which is very convenient. Less than a 5 minute walk and I was there. I highly recommend this hotel. read more

Nice, cute, welcoming but lacks amenities. Definitely not for those in the travel industry. Very thin curtains so no privacy at night. And you're unable to sleep-in due to all the blazing daylight entering your room as soon as daybreak hits due to the thin curtains. Cooler provided in the room but there's no way to heat your food. No microwaves on the premises so you have to go to the sister property next door. No complimentary coffee/tea station in the lobby nor rooms - everything has to be purchased. read more

Terrible business. Stayed here for a weekend for a family event so we had several rooms. One of our rooms had a light fixture fall, another had no water pressure, another room had no working ac, and finally the sensor in the door to my room stopped working and it took about three trips to the desk for them to do anything other than just give us new keys to our room. Some staff were incredibly rude, and some staff were very helpful. There aren't any coffee makers in the rooms so you are forced to purchase coffee at the in house coffee shop. The location of the hotel is its only saving grace. I would recommend booking a stay elsewhere. read more
