We had a picture perfect trip to Cabbage Key complete with dolphins leaping near the boat. Lunch was truly Cheeseburger in Paradise. Wandering the island we watched a gopher tortoise munch his lunch and six ducklings following mom home. Climbing the water tower resulted in a spectacular view. The boat and captain were great. However, we were disappointed in the "Birding Cruise" aspect. Very few birds were seen, we could not get very close to the rookery island, and very little information was shared. We concluded that Pine Island Sound is not conducive to this idea and that the you need representatives that study wading birds, the environment and its history to make a tour this long interesting and worth the cost. Good intentions but just not the caliber we normally experience from this vendor. read more

Took our 7th Captiva Cruise on Jan 18. this time we visited to Cabbage Key. As alway, it was a WONDERFUL Captiva Cruise experience! The staff are very professional, friendly and knowledgeable. The service is TOP NOTCH!! They were extremely helpful as we had a person in our party that had some mobility issues. The staff was very attentive, made sure we had mobility arrangements upon arrival at Cabbage Key and the entire cruise experience to was exceptional. We used Captiva Cruises for our Welcome Party for our wedding weekend and we could not be anymore happy we did. The booking process was seamless and the staff was communicative and so informative when I called to talk through things with them. They worked with Tween Waters Resort to have the food catered and they provided the open bar so it really was like a one stop shop and made it so easy. I was able to bring on some personal items on board to decorate the boat and really make it my own. The staff on the boat was welcoming and provided a little history of the islands we went through which was a nice touch for all of my guests that were out of town. To top it off, we had dolphins following the wake of the boat which is always a favorite sight to see. Everything was truly perfect and I am so happy with our decision to incorporate this into our wedding weekend. We will cherish these memories forever! read more

Smooth boat ride over to Gasparilla Island. Staff great and very engaging and helpful. We rented a golf cart. Well worth it.

Did the 4pm dolphin cruise and wow it did not disappoint! Was an cash bar and only about 30 passengers including many kids. 15 min in we had tons of dolphins surrounding the boat and putting on a show. This happened most of the tour. What a fun adventure! read more

After seeing the "Lady Chadwick" out on the sound while we were on a private charter, we decided to spend our last day after we had to check out but with a late flight on a cruise. It was FANTASTIC! We will definitely go again. We did the trip to Cabbage Key. The hosts were so funny and informative. I got some amazing dolphin shots from them swimming around our boat. It was very comfortable for all of us, who wanted to be inside or outside, in shade or sun. Bar was nice with drinks and snacks for all ages. And had a bathroom, great for kids. Cabbage key was fun, kind of crazy busy (Saturday of a holiday weekend) but we got priority seating. Next time we'd try Uiseppe or do the Cayo Costa. There will definitely be a next time. read more

We took the wildlife sunset cruise. Learned some history about the island, saw some beautiful homes, and the sunset was absolutely gorgeous! They had drinks, water, pop, and snacks for sale. The added bonus was on our way back to the dock, we saw a few dolphins that put on a show for us. So fun! read more

Just fantastic! I went on two of their cruises during my week in Captiva, one Shelling cruise and one to Useppa Island. The Useppa island tour was on the newly returned to service Lady Chadwick. On any tour that you take, you're very likely to see dolphins, even if you're not on a dolphin tour the guides always have a lot of interesting local information, and I feel like I learn something new about the area every time I take a cruise. They also have one of the few parking lots on Captiva, and for a small fee you can park during your cruise and then walk around the area afterwards. read more

(This review is for both Captiva Cruises AND Cayo Costa.) If you wanna save on airfare to a Caribbean island, look no further than a lil jaunt to Cayo Costa! I know a lot of Florida has blue-water beaches buy the beaches here are stunning! I visited with a charter (Captiva Cruises out of McCarthy's Marina) and with a decent amount of pr I e who disembarked along with me, I never saw any of them until it was time to take the tram back to the Marina. You'll probably have the beach all to yourselves (spare for a few small boats parked offshore for fishing). Shelling is great here, too! I nabbed a couple of pristine sand dollars, a couple of smaller whelk-types, several olives, HUGE intact clam with some vivid interior colors. I actually came here to snorkel but I wasn't able to find any fish/coral in the two areas I snokeled. Walking to the beach from where the Ranger tram drops you off, I went left and walked quite a distance. I tried a few snorkel locations then just started walking on a shelling mission. I found a beautiful wildlife-filled lagoon behind the beach somewhere down a good distance. Lots of birds and some gorgeous sandbags separated two bodies of water and all of the cool birds were hanging out here. The water closest to the inside shore was very red and didn't look like it would be safe to swim in but it very well might be fine? I ran out of time before I could explore too much in this area but would definitely head straight there on any future visit! Captiva Cruises full-day excursion is a great experience! You board the boat at 10am, rude the boat to CC for about an hour while the Captain tells you all about the islands along the route. You'll get to the island around 11am and cab choose to either walk around yourself or ride a tram driven by a Park Ranger who will drop you off a short walk from the beach. If you choose to ride the tram back, you'll just need to be at the dropoff location around 2:30pm for the short journey back to the dock. The boat will pick you up and take you back to McCarthy's marina on Captiva. The Captain will also narrate the sights along the return route and will slow if you should happen upon any dolphins swimming. (Apparently there is a different "dolphin cruise" that goes through the area around the same time and they feed the dolphins; our boat showed up first and they appeared thinking we were the Food Truck Du Jour.) Really beautiful encounter! All in all, I wish my visit to CC could have lasted through what was I'm sure a most beautiful sunset! You are able to camp on the island so that's another option to the cruise or getting there by boat on your own. Can't recommend a visit to Cayo Costa enough!!!! read more

The cruise to Pine Island is a nice half-day on the water, the most interesting part of which is the land-based walking tour of the Calusa mound area adjacent to the Tarpon Lodge. The lodge itself is a very cool remnant of old Florida that reeks of the fun and frolic engaged in during the early days of sport fishing along Southwest Florida's islands and inlets. Nifty dark old bar, and the food is good. Except the baconless turkey club at twenty bucks is no bargain. Hence the three stars for this package, suggesting that Captiva Cruises needs to better police its partners. James B. read more

Wow. I cannot say enough about this amazing experience. My husband, 17 month old daughter and I absolutely loved this cruise. The dolphins showed UP for us and the captain and guide were so kind, funny and in tune with the wildlife and all guests. If you're worried about motion sickness, the movement is gentle and mild- we are both prone to motion sickness and neither of us felt woozy. Lots of ventilation, and room to move around.
