Captiva Cruises was a unique experience. The front desk initially felt a bit dismissive when we were trying to decide which cruise to book, and it almost made us pass--but we're so glad we didn't. We ended up booking the dolphin cruise, and it was absolutely worth it. Carlos was knowledgeable, funny, and clearly knew exactly where to find the dolphins. First class adventure for Sanibel/Captiva visitors! Seven of us, ages 3 to 68, sailed to Cabbage Key on Lady Chadwick. The good ship was freshly painted and running smoothly. Our Captain from Boston gave a funny and factual narrative all along the way. Best of all we landed at Cabbage Key with reserved tables and quick service. Beyond the cheeseburgers in paradise, the blackened grouper with beans and rice was excellent. Several dolphins joined our wake for the ride each way, creating a memorable experience. Very nice cruise. We traveled to Boca Grande. The ship was nice. The Crew was nice. In the end, there really wasn't enough time in Boca. Needed a couple more hours. The only detractor is that they are located at the end of Sanibel - so it takes a while to get there (almost as long as the cruise itself). read more

We went out with Captiva Cruises three times during our trip--2 sunset cruises with other couples we'd invited and one trip to Cayo Costa. Overall, we enjoyed our trips. Got to ride Lady Chadwick and saw dolphins and a great sunset. Catamaran for one sunset and it was super crowded (too many drunk women to be sure). Overall, I'd say Lady Chadwick for sunset if you can, super nice crew, even though I prefer a catamaran for the on-the-water experience. Cayo Costa was super fun and a great crew. Why I rated this 3 out of 5 stars is because of the horrid German admin person in their trailer office. Because of her, I would not recommend this place and even though we have faithfully been here countless times in years past, my experience with the office leads me to make the hard decision to never book with them again (Adventures in Paradise has our money now). After being out with them THREE times and inviting friends to go with us, we stopped on a Sunday morning and asked if we could park in the mostly deserted parking lot, in the far corner, for just a short time to have breakfast on the main street, because we couldn't find parking because of heavy construction. And we were met with NO, YOU CANNOT PARK HERE, NOTHING IS FREE!! She wanted like $30 for an hour in a deserted parking lot after we had spent, what, $600 to go out on their cruises? REALLY?? [And we had been told ON-BOARD the boats, not once, but twice, by the crews that we could use the parking lot any time during our stay because they were off-season and things were slow.] This woman was rude to us when we checked in, but who cares, we're having fun. To be met with this absolutely unnecessary rude, unjustified, pedantic, legalistic attitude was uncalled for and about as far from customer service as possible. Crews were all great, but this woman was so incredibly awful, I would not pay good money to a outfit who would hire someone like that. read more

Very friendly and fun staff. We had little kids with us and did a last minute 3 hour shelling tour. Boat ride was pleasant and short, the island was filled with shells and the kids had a blast. I would recommend you bring an umbrella with you, or some sort of shade bc it's completely uninhabited so there's nothing setup. Bring your own food and drink and have a good time! read more

The cruise staff was wonderful and the sailing to our destination was excellent. My only issue was that the seating along the side of the boat was uncomfortable because there needed to be cushioned back rests instead of the metal bars that offered no support or comfort. read more

A "nice", time. I'll be honest, we really enjoyed our actual cruise to Useppa Island and back. The crew was knowledgeable and gracious for the tour. However our biggest disappointment was the "very little" amount of time that we had on Useppa Island. We had wanted to explore but we were the first divided group to go to the Collier House restaurant. The Collier House is very cool in it's architecture and history, however a few facts: 1. Service was VERY SLOW - it took almost all of our time on the island for our meal. 2. Bartender made THE WORST cocktails. All of us had to send our cocktails back. Stick to beer or wine. 3. Price of meals is EXPENSIVE. A very basic fish sandwich for $28? C'mon. 4. Forgotten items - One member of our party's meal was given to another guest (not in our party), forgotten, then when asked about the status, had it re-made but not to what was ordered. Should have been adjusted on our check but was not. Even after voicing our dis-satisfaction. 5. Food was not cooked properly. And came out cold. 6. Automatic gratuity is added to all checks, as an FYI. Again, because of this, it cut drastically into our time. Nevertheless, there should have been more time, overall. Will we go back? Not sure, but definitely not to Useppa. read more

Just an awesome experience (2nd time for us)! You get a boat ride out to one of the island's and then a couple hours to explore and collect shells or just beach it and swim. You really can't go wrong. This trip we had Dave and Reuben as our cruise guides and they were friendly cordial and knowledgeable with some unexpected but well received history and information shared (plus they let our boys steer the boat). Also, they tried to get us up close with dolphins that were swimming by. (You can purchase beverages-adult ones too fora decent price) The weather was perfect and the tide was low so we got alot of cool collectible shells and quite a few sand dollars as well. Would highly recommend if you're looking to explore so new beaches and just enjoy a sunny day out! read more

What a great day dolphin watching with Captiva Cruises! George and Carlos were fantastic guides and we were up close with dolphins in no time. We saw lots of different species of birds and even bald eagles. The boat had plenty of shade and is suitable for people of all ages. Every time we have visitors here in Fort Myers, we take them on this cruise. It is a fantastic trip. Fully narrated with the history of the area, a great lunch at Cabbage Key (albeit a bit pricey) and a nice trip back to Captiva.Many times we saw dolphins swimming next to the boat. 3 of us (59, 60, 81) went on the Dolphin Cruise last night and had a great time! Super friendly staff who found us lots of dolphins! Everyone had a chance to get photos and videos. We have already booked the same Dolphin cruise for next week when our kids and grandkids come down! Lower level of boat has indoor seating and is wheelchair friendly. I read a lot of people that recommended doing a sunset cruise in Captiva while visiting Sanibel. This company seems to be the only one doing them, so we booked one. The cruise we booked was a wildlife and sunset cruise. Calling it a wildlife cruise is a pretty big stretch. I understand you can't control what wildlife you see, but they weren't even trying. They spent 10 minutes talking about wildlife and then they spent the next hour talking about houses on the island. After a while it felt like an advertisement for the vacation rental companies. The sunset was nice, but I'd just watch it from a beach personally. read more
