Although we were a bit wishy washy on what we wanted initially, she gave us a great structure to follow and provided us a wonderful draft ceremony to build upon. She was great to work with in terms of providing feedback on what we wanted to highlight and gave us advice on coordinating our vows. We loved the incorporation of the love story as well. Honeybreak Officiants were great about pointing out the little bits we could customize, including titles and how we would like to be announced. We were able to just leave the ceremony in Celine's capable hands and not even worry about it. There was no rehearsal and there was no need! Although we had a mic for Celine during the Zoom ceremony (with 10 guests attending in person), she projected very well so that our guests could actually hear. The ceremony was so nice a few people asked for copies of it and and readings especially our parents. Jessica made suggestions on how to and when acquire our marriage license. She knew exactly what to do and who to have sign where which on the day of the wedding this was fantastic. We just had to give her the license and she was set to go. She also mailed in the license for us and we just received our marriage certificate in the mail! She wrote us an email when she originally mailed it in to the state and sent us a scan which I just think exhibits their professionalism. But ultimately, with our two sets of answers, Joanna wrote us the most perfect ceremony, that we received many, many compliments on. It unforgettable, sweet, anecdotal, funny at times, tear-inducing at other times, 100% "us," and totally different from any other wedding ceremony I have ever heard. I cannot recommend Joanna enough. She did not give clear instructions and gaslighted us while being held accountable. More tellingly, she announced my wife and I, two women, as Mr. and Mrs. Our parents, friends and family members were shocked and visibly upset. When I asked Rachel about it later on, she did not respond to my text message. Instead she unfollowed my wife on instagram. Days later my wife sent Rachel an email calling her attention to what I already communicated on night of July 26th and sent the email below. I can understand a mistake, but its unethical and unprofessional to not respond or issue an apology. Too, even if this has never happened before, it and you should have held yourself accountable in the moment and issued an apology. However, as hurt and disappointed as I was, I wasn't shocked. As a marginalized African American lesbian woman, I felt betrayed that even on my wedding day, someone could feel that entitled, make a detrimental mistake and still not issue an apology while being paid to perform a service. I would not recommend Reverend Rachel to officiant another wedding. In fact, I strongly recommend that she take a break, a sabbatical to get closer to God.
