I called to confirm we would be ocean fishing for fluke after reading "unbelievable fluke fishing now!!!! After 30 minutes running outside the inlet I asked the mate when we were stopping to fish. He said the fluke fishing was done because of the hurricane and we were running two hour offshore to a wreck to fish for Porgies and Seabass. $500 total for 4 guys including tip for a total of 3 hours of fishing. If you like deep sea fishing go down to Captree Boat Basin. You have a choice of what kind of fish you want to catch. I usually go out on the Laura Lee that fishes in the bay most of the time. But that boat was so crowded that day I went on the Captree Pride captain Kenny Higgins and had the time of my life. We went out in the ocean buy a wreck out there and as soon as he anchored we started catching fish. We caught mostly fluke and sea bass and I also caught a couple of Ling which I never ate before but they told me to try. To tell you the truth the Ling taste better than all of them when I brought them home and fried them. But getting back to the boat everyone caught the limit of fish and those that didn't we shared with them so all-in-all everyone had a good day And Captain Kenny knows his fishing grounds because he made sure everyone caught fish he almost guaranteed it. And the crew was very helpful and friendly if your line broke they would rig you right back up again and they also clean the fish for you on the way in and fillet it So all-in-all if you want to catch some fish and enjoy yourself go out on the Captree Pride with Captain Kenny Higgins read more

Staff were all friendly and captain communicated well with customers to inform them of height of fish and really tried his best to get to the school is bass. There was a Whale in the water feeding on bunker and Captain Ken felt he had to get close enough to hit the Whale. I guess there wasn't enough space in the Ocean that he had to hit the Whale. . OVERBOOKED JULY 4TH! Like the other reviewer, Super D. wrote below... they pack people like sardines. I went on the July 4th fireworks cruise, spending $50 for a four-hour ride with no decent place to sit. Seating is first board, first serve, which is fair...ONLY IF there is enough seating to begin with. My sister and I stood about 3/4 down the long waiting line. A group of my friends were closer to the front. When we finally boarded, there were no spots left to sit except inside the crowded cabin at one of the food tables where large baskets of sandwiches, condiments & garlic knots were placed. Folks had to reach over us at first to get to the food, so we pushed the basket to the outside edge of the table and sat against the wall, unable to see much of anything but the sky through the glass windows. (Not to mention, no breeze in there.) The last 1/4 who boarded after us obviously also had an even harder time finding a place to sit - or lean. And we're talking a four-hour ride. The group of friends had been at the front of the line, of course, got to sit together at tables on the top deck. But by the time we got on, that whole top area was full. After we finished eating, sis was able to squeeze into a bench spot on the outside, after a teenage boy gave up up his spot for her. Like him, I wound up leaning against the railing most of the time. The fireworks were further away than I had anticipated. But that time, the whole crowd came over to that side of the boat to watch; so those sitting on the benches couldn't see anything, due to the other passengers leaning against the railing in front of them. So if you wanted to stay seated, you had to pass on seeing the fireworks - period. If you wanted to see, you'd have to shove someone over and try to squeeze in just to stand at the railing. In all fairness, my friends at the top seemed to enjoy this trip together up there at the top deck. But lots of other folks were commiserating on that main level. I, among the latter, will definitely pass on this magic, next time. read more

I fish with 4 friends and we drive 2 hours to captree. I dont really enjoy a bad review and its been 4 weeks since we fished the pride but I dont want others making my mistake. Despicable. Came on a Saturday, 100+ people on a boat meant for 60. Rather than staying where he knew there was fish, Captain Ken kept going. He stopped for about 5 minutes at every spot. Out of the 5 hour trip, about 45 minutes of it was spent fishing. Maybe 5-10 keepers among 105 people. Crew was decent. Save your money. read more

In all honesty it is very sad as a business to promote something false!!!my wife kids and friends have gone on this boat numerous times, taking the day and money to catch fish and nothing but false advertisement on this boat!!! If there was an option for 0 stars I would give it. The captain overbooked the trip with more than 100 people when there should have been 60 max. You couldn't even fish. But that was half the issue. There were birds and fish all over, but the genius captain decided to drive 3 hours east to find "keepers". How he knew they were there? He didn't. There were so many people so close together that every time you drop a damn line your lines tangled and snagged into everyone else's. It was amazing any fish were caught. Zero social distancing measures and zero face coverings despite it being mandated by ny state. And the stats they post on their website is a joke. They are seriously padding the counts to make it look good. Such a waste of time and money. I had to tell the crew that our poles weren't even rigged yet as we got to the first stopping point 45 minutes out. The crew was rude and talked down to us as if we were stupid everytime someone's lines got tangled. Again to damn many people on the boat. When talking with the captain about it he was rude said "dont like it go on a different boat or get your own boat we got to make money some how " Thank you Captain asshole I assure you, I will never set foot on your boat again!! Went striper fishing this AM on this boat. Did so last season on same boat about the same time of year. Was told same thing last year, "we killed it yesterday boat was maxed out". We did catch some strikers early so it wasn't a total loss, but middle of the trip nothing was happening, we weren't using bait and many boats were inside close to the inlet using bait, no reason to change with this boat, keep doing same thing driving around dropping and catching skates and dogfish. On way back, captain spotted a whale and told all onboard to get your cameras ready. Whale was approx 120 yards away and we could all see it, but this genius decides to drive right up to it, and he hit it. As he was getting closer to the whale I could not believe how close he was getting, then bang, the boat shakes. Complete idiot move. Lastly although crew somewhat helpful, giving a tip for flaying the fish got no response, no thank you nothing and when leaving the boat I gave a tip to a mate but he was too busy to say thanks as he was talking to his buddy. Went out yesterday for a "special trip". They bragged "doormat Fluke off shore". Higher price than normal. They didnt limit head count on this higher price "special trip". Their was so many people, all we were able to catch is eachother. Tangles after tangles. Captain blamed current being too strong. You dont have this problem in Montauk or Belmar NJ because even if it is a party boat and the current is strong.... they limit head count so everyone catches from 1 side (drift side). We spent more time driving around (really slow driving, REALLY SLOW) and untangling our limes, than fishing. Now for the captain. He left the dock on time. Crawled an hour and a half out to the fishimg grounds. He talked about how much better conditions were in the morning. No one in the afternoon trip wants to hear how great the morning trip was! We saw that morning crew get off the boat. Their was maybe 30 people. Their was over 100 people on evening trip. I even had the mate "Henry" say he was sorry for me always getting tangled. The mates were great and very busy with everyone getting knotted Up. The 2 people with a fish on, was ON THEIR OWN! It's not the crews fault. It's the captain being greedy and not limiting head count. Finally, the last straw that broke the camel's back... This captain started back to port over 2 hours left in the trip. He drove back as slow as possible to the dock to suck Up the rest of the fishing time. We all had our phones out clocking his speed and his path with Navionics . My party of 4 people ALL own boats. The captain crawled and did S patterns the whole trip back. That was a waste of time yesterday. Montauk, LI Sound or Belmar are always better for me. This party boat is good for kids and people who just want to be out on a boat. If you advertise a "special trip" offshore for doormat Fluke. You're not targeting kids or weekend warriors. Your targeting serious anglers. Fishing is fishing. I get the weather doesnt always work in our favor. I get fish dont always bite. But it's the captain's job to make it happen. Let me start by saying this was my first time on this boat although I have fished many of the other Captree boats and Port Jeff boats as well. Today was advertised as a sea bass, porgies and Stripers etc trip when in fact it was 100% Striper targeted which isn't a bad thing but it wasn't what I was expecting. The mates April and Phil are fantastic and very on top of things and super friendly. I didn't feel like an outsider even though I was a boat newbie. The Captain was really engaged and paying attention the whole time. The boat brought in about 10 striper keepers and as I recall only had one short so that's decent if you were one of the lucky ones or the guy who actually caught two keepers. Unfortunately I didn't even get a sniff of anything ......oh wait a couple of crabs when the tide was changing. I would def give this boat another shot and be better prepared for the target fish. Went to do a bit of striper fishing this afternoon. The weather held up and I figured I would give this boat a shot . I have never had much luck fishing out of captree as most of the fishing reports are embellished or outright lies but I didn't want to launch my boat or go out a full day so down to the dock I go. I am greatly optimistic when I was told they limited out on the am trip. We leave the dock 10 mins late and get to the inlet. Nothing at all. No stripers , no blues , no nibbles. Total catch for twenty people , 3 skates . Here are my issues, captain made 4 lousy drops he could not make a new plan when what he was doing didn't work. He just said he was frustrated but there was little he could do. Change something I do not claim to be an expert that's why I went on the boat . Effort is a zero. Second , the mates kept the boat pool money. They should have offered it back of course I would have said keep it and supplemented it to equal 20 percent but since they wanted it so bad I figured they were happy with just that money so no further tip was necessary. Captain if you produced 900 sea bass over 2 half day trips on Monday that's incredible or is it unbelievable. I vote for the latter. Captain then stated if anyone wanted to return this season he would let you do so at a child's fare. Gee thanks and he never did provide a way to make this happen. I have been fishing on party boats all my life and I have never met a Captain (Kenny) with this much enthusiasm. He genuinely enjoys his job!. I fished 2 trips of this unprecedented fall stripper blitz. The first trip was the best stripper experience I ever had on a party boat. We " limited " out in just a few passes through giant schools. The second trip was a total dud. Which leads me to my only criticism . We fished west and almost directly on the beach to which no ones surprise produced zilch. When an entire boat gets skunked during one of the biggest bass blitzes in history why not offer the fares a discount on a future trip. I brought a bunch of my friends on the second trip to share in the experience I had on my trip the week before. Well of course they ripped me the whole ride home. Another chance via a discounted trip would have lessened the pain. This is still the best boat with very helpful mates in Captree however and I fully recommend. have taken my 9 year old son out on the captree pride many, many times. they are the best with kdis. captain rob and kenny are welcoming and take us to the fish. the crew are very, very attentive and go out of their way to assist the young, old, and everything inbetween,. the nets are at hand and ready to apply. justin, larry, jay, and henry are a totally polite, knowledgeable, and patient. we went out on a double trip sunday and caught more fish than we could possible eat. great time. highly recommend. read more

I went fishing on the captree pride on 9/13/16. It started off with the mate telling me that he wasnt getting a tip because I had no cash so I asked him to charge me 60$ instead of 50$ and take 10$ as a tip. I overlooked his comments and decided to continue fishing. It was a good trip until it came to the dock pool.I caught a 4.88 lb fluke and I was told that i had to wait to find out which I was fine with. I was told to call on Friday to see if I won. I did so on Friday and I got no answer at the captree boatman"s association's offices. I then call the captain of the boat to find out. It seemed like it was a hassle from the start, like he couldn't be bothered.He then told me he would look into it.The captains wonder why no one is fishing at captree anymore this is one of the many reasons why. It seems there was a death in the family of the person who runs it. He then proceeded to tell me that it was only about 60 or so dollars for the pool. He told me I was unreasonable to think that I should be able to find out if I won. He then called me some explicative words while texting me about it. I told him that it was the principle of it and that someone else should have done the dock pool if the woman was out because of a death.
