We celebrated our grandson's birthday (belated) on Saturday in the Celtic Quest. We had a great time and we all caught lots of fish! Mostly Porgie and a few blues. The entire staff beginning with the office, the captain and his crew made our experience so much fun. I highly recommend CQ if you are looking for a family outting!

I went out on the Celtic Quest out of Mattituck, NY on Thursday October 6, 2022. The fishing was exceptional. It was probably one of the best fishing days I've ever had on the Celtic Quest and I've had quite a few great days of fishing. Double-header keepers. The captain was extremely on point. But that seems to be the norm with this business. Whether it's Port Jeff or Mattituck, the captains are always on their game. The mate, Donald, was all alone and just made everything look so easy. This kid was all over the place helping this one and getting that for this other one. All while cleaning and filleting lots of fish. I can say it was worth every single penny to be able to go on this boat. Thank you to all you guys for always making every trip a great trip.

Before you consider any other charter operation, please see the attached picture of a message from Susan at Celtic Quest. My entire family had to cancel our trip the day of for a family bereavement. The level of courtesy, care and true professionalism is extraordinary. Thank you to Susan and the entire crew at Celtic Quest.

Porgy time! My uncle fishing with me on one of my many private charters on the CQ.

I am a avid fisherman, who has been fishing my entire life. I've fished boats all over NY, CT, MA. The Celtic Quest fleet is in my opinion one of the best charter/party boats on the entire island and surround Boroughs. Desi, Chris and the entire staff of the CQ are in a league of their own. Classy, knowledgable, friendly and hard working. Captains always work hard to put us on the meat and the rest of the crew/mates are always right there when you need them. I fish the CQ year round and more times then i can keep track of. I host yearly work fishing trips that are always a hit. When I want to take my little cousins out fishing, this is where I take them. They're not just for us hardcore fisherman, this is a family/kid friendly operation.

I have fished on many boats and this is one of the best. Many I would classify as "tourist" and just a few as real fishing boats. All boats have there good day and their off days. Celtic Quest has very few challenging days. However, when a boat is crowded ( and the number of passengers is regulated) there will be tangles (do not go fishing on a holiday if you do not like crowds). And every boat as their spots. some days the fish are big and some small. But this crew is dedicated to catch fish. And that is what I look at. This is not a sight seeing boat. It is one of the Best!!!!!! Hank Arkin

What a great time and an extremely great crew! Thank you to Vinny and Cory for their hospitality. I can't believe how many fish I caught. The boat/ship was nice and smooth and very clean. I can't wait to do this again, soon.

Went on the Celtic Grace, (part of the Celtic Quest Fleet), today on the Fourth of July with my wife, for the 9am to 2pm trip. This is the first time I have been on this boat and after today's experience it won't be the last. To say that this is the nicest, cleanest boat I have ever been on is an understatement. The boat and bathrooms are spotless, the mates are super courteous and helpful and the clientele was respectful. It's so nice not to have a 'Mr. know it all' trash talker, drinking beer at 8am, dropping the F- bomb every other word, being a total jerk fishing next to you. The boat is in fact, "family friendly". The bite was moderate to light today, but we did manage to land a dozen porgies. I'm a 'surf fisherman' by nature/ choice, but it's nice to get out on the water every now and then as a change of pace and this time was great.

Wah! I've never been fishing! Wah! I don't know what I am doing!

SEVEN STAR FISHING EXPERIENCE Jul 2025 * Friends…read moreFour of us went fishing on Long Island Sound yesterday from 12 pm to approximately 6 pm with Eric, AKA Captain Fish, from Port Jefferson, Long Island. What a glorious experience. It was the first time of deep sea fishing for two of us. We not only caught tons of fish but got wonderful lessons from Eric as to how to do it right. He is a great teacher, always watching and correcting you so that you don't develop bad habits, but doing so with a ready smile. He is also very ethical and would only let us keep porgies (11 inches +) and sea bass (16.5 inches +) that meet regulation. Our end of the day haul was 30 large sized fish which was way beyond expectation. Most importantly we had 6 hours of pure fun. Also, his boat is extremely clean and well kept. If you ever want to go deep sea fishing, look no further and just call Eric / Captain Fish! I have already recommended him to all my friends who are chomping at the bit to go. They are, I bet a little envious as well - wondering how a novice like me could so much fish. All credit goes to Eric!

Eric had so many spots in his GPS that we had no trouble getting on the fish right away. We had loads of action the whole time and got a few beauties for dinner. The boat is fast, comfortable, and the Cap't was a super nice, laid back, non-smoking!, knowledgeable guy. As an avid angler I appreciate a captain who truly enjoys fishing, doesn't watch the clock, and doesn't mind sharing his knowledge. Plus he is a dog lover - just an added bonus in my opinion. I look forward to fishing with him again!

(The crew made all the difference) The boat is beautiful, clean, fully accommodating with stocked bathrooms (had sinks and soap!). The crew provided everything we needed, plus educated us and helped us every step of the way. We caught a ton of fish, which they offered to either descale or filet for us (and they did a wonderful, quick job of that). The highlight was the crew. Ilya and Matt were super accommodating from educating us and giving us tips on how to catch and reel the fish in, to placing bait on our hooks and unhooking each fish that my family of five caught (all while helping others as well). The captain even danced with my daughter (5 yrs old with special needs) when she came inside the cabin and was starting to get tired of being out by the side fishing. These men were such hard-working, honest gentlemen- it sealed the deal for us to plan our next trip with Osprey and every fishing charter in the future will be with them! (I'll add that our boat was not packed in without room to move like other charters, and we had many other people on our charter that were long-time fisherman that have chosen Osprey for years. That says a lot). If you're looking for a fishing charter in this area and you're either first-timers or have fishing experience- look no further. You won't be disappointed. *I'm not one to put personal photos of my family, but the crew even helped take photos of my kids' first catches and sent them to me privately. Having a young child with special needs limits our family adventures so everything they did that went above and beyond really was appreciated.

There's a Veteran discount on the pass, high five Brookhaven! There's a reason why the next town is "Rocky Point". The beaches on the north shore are so rocky! The beaches on the south shore are powered sand, this is a south shore thing that I always like to point out. I like hanging out.

It is difficult to review Cedar Beach, because essentially it is reviewing the Long Island Sound,…read morewhich is vintage Long Island. This viewpoint is from the eyes of a person who's Dad is a Town of Brookhaven resident. The thing to take into account when reviewing Cedar Beach is that it is a Brookhaven Township amenity where admission is very reasonable for it's residents. On the contrary, for the residents residing outside of Brookhaven, their price to enjoy access to the Long Island Sound could seem to compete with Six Flags Great Adventure prices. The Town of Brookhaven, NY website displays the prices. Whether you are a Town of Brookhaven or non-resident the days of paying at the admission gate appear to be a memory. I'm not a fan of the parking meters because they can be an annoyance for Cedar Beach guests at the same time that they do not provide the safety measure that a controlled access gate does in maintaining a sense of safety.     Cedar Beach is one of a few Town of Brookhaven Long Island Sound beachfront parks. The other one that I am familiar with is West Meadow Beach. Cedar Beach is situated on a peninsula in a scenic location that starts off with a drive along bucolic and windy Pipe Stave Hollow Road that gives a nod to the East End with its bordering woodlands, estates on rolling forested hills, and the picturesque Mount Sinai Harbor that brings images of the Great Peconic Bay. A left turn onto Harbor Beach Road continues the drive on the peninsula where Mount Sinai Harbor with the boats are to the south and the beachfront, nature trail, concession stand, and amenities are to the north. One advantage of the meter system is that if you want to see the beach scape by vehicle, you can drive to the end of Harbor Beach Road without paying.    The peak season is from Memorial Day to Labor Day. It is my understanding that they provide lifeguards during this busy season. However, it was off-season when I went with my Dad, a Brookhaven resident, to see Cedar Beach. Living in the Las Vegas desert, it just made sense to spend some time by the Long Island Sound when I visited my dad. Please keep in mind that I am no stranger to Cedar Beach. My memories go back to the early 1980s when I was a child that spent time with my dad at Cedar Beach. Not much has changed since President Regan was in office. Cedar Beach is still a very rocky North Shore Beach that is unstable for swimming in barefooted. However, one change that was administered over the years is that dogs are prohibited at Cedar Beach.    My Dad and I visited Cedar Beach in May. Before peak season the beach was very unpopulated. If my dad did not have a Brookhaven pass, the parking meters could care less that the parking lot was relatively empty. Waiting for us were several spaces overlooking a band of white sand fronting a large expanse of Long Island Sound water spread out towards Connecticut. Unlike West Meadow Beach, Cedar Beach provides a prime vista of a beach scape taking in the Connecticut shoreline. On a serene Long Island day the waves were very gentle. With so few people sharing this experience, this was a mellow way to spend some time with my dad. We did go for a short walk on the beach. Being a hiker, of I was alone and had sufficient time, I would of hiked west on the sand that would take me onto the nature trail that would ultimately lead me to the end of the peninsula at the Cedar Beach Fishing Pier Area where Harbor Beach Road ends at a water view overlooking Belle Terre.     I am a fan of Long Island Sound, I am a fan of Cedar Beach. Being that my Dad is a Brookhaven resident, I could see a return visit here when I spend time with my Dad on Long Island.

Being a boat owner for over 25 years, I was hesitant to join a boat club for many reasons but I was more than pleasantly surprised at the quality of the boats available at each location. My home port is Port Washington but used every location except for Northport. I love the fact that you can boat all over the island, North and South shore. Not only are the boats in great condition, the dockmaster's at each location were so nice, helpful, and accommodating.(Thanks Martin! Dockmaster at Pt Washington) The availability of boats was almost never an issue and if there were no boats available in Pt Washington i'd just go to another location which I enjoyed because it was fun to check out new places. Over the course of the summer I got out on the water 15-20 times, I would never had the time to do that if I had to prep the boat before going out then clean boat when done. As a member in NY, you also have access to boats all up and down the east coast. I'll be in Florida in March and look forward to getting out a couple days down there. I read a few of the earlier posts and I'm assuming that FBC must've went through major changes over the last few years because my experience over the last summer was terrific and can't wait for May 1!The reservation system is a piece of cake, as everything is done online. I met Gaige, the dockmaster in Northport and now Membership Executive, my first day as a member of FBC and he took me out for the safety course. Being a avid boater and fisherman but not ever boating out of Pt Washington/North Shore, he took the time to show me around the area and what to watch out for. We also had 2 new members with us that day that were a little less experienced than I was on the water and Gaige was great with them, showing them everything from pulling out of the slip to navigating the harbor to understanding the "rules of the road". Being an experienced boater I wasn't really looking forward to orientation but we ended up having a blast and developed a friendship with Gaige and stayed in touch throughout the year, swapping fishing spots and stories. I know this review sounds like an advertisement and to be honest, i'd rather have less members because that means more availability for me but when something is done the right way I like to give my opinion and give a shout out to the people who make it happen. For any of you that know me, you know that when things are done poorly I'll let you know that as well! Anyway, if anyone wants to chat about the club just write back on here or get in touch with Gaige and he'll let me know. Joey G

We can never get boats we are looking for, and have to settle for older boats, with the same exact things broken on them as last year. Seats broken, door locks broken. Windshield lock down not working. Etc. The biggest problem now, is the GAS BILL. We were assured by our salesman Lou last year that gas was charged by gallos used. And whatever the local pump station was charging per gallon. After receiving two very large gas bills in the beginning of this year, i asked the employees what was going on. I was told they now charge the highest price possible per gallon, plus they take a 60 cent per gallon surcharge on top of it. OUTRAGEOUS... I emailed our salesperson about this problem and got no response at all. I thought maybe I was mistaken, or there was some sort of explanation. Today we took another boat out of a different location and was told the exact same thing from an employee. I feel we were lied to over and over.. They will tell you whatever you need to hear, to have you sign their contract. Let the buyer beware.

She even checked the back for a lure that she said had been performing really well lately that seemed to be sold out on the sales floor. She found it and we bought it, along with several other items that we tried out down on the beach this evening. We will definitely be returning. It felt nice to support a local small business and I enjoyed hanging out in the store. There's a great vibe going on. They have pictures bordering the ceiling of locals with their catch. They said people come in after they've gone fishing to show them what they caught and have it weighed. That sounds like FUN. Maybe I'll do that, if I ever catch something BIG. This a living postcard that I have got to spend time in three times, with the latest being Monday, October 21, 2024. The three times that I spent here were with my dad. From these three visits (as of October 31, 2024), I give this five acre waterfront park four stars. It really captures the Port Jefferson experience. A big part of that experience is Port Jefferson Harbor with its ferry, boats, birds, docks, bordering bluffs, and water spread out to Connecticut. It is a view that brings out the shutter bug in me. Walking in from the west entrance near Danford's, my thing is to stroll along the walking path inches from the water taking pictures before walking onto the pier to take in the water below me. Sitting on a shaded bench, I would spend time talking to my dad while looking at the forested Belle Terre bluffs towering above the Long Island Sound water. Harborfront Park was not always a picturesque spot. It is the result of an environmental success story. You see, before the early 2000s, it was a blighted wasteland of oil tanks and cement that was closed off to the public. Just like most environmental success stories, people that cared got together to create something beautiful. Looking at the water that is so clear that I could see the bottom, it is hard to fathom that this was an industrial site. This environmental success story created a first-rate park with immaculate landscaping and details that is much more than a real life postcard. This park has added public art and passive entertainment to Port Jefferson Village. The focal point of the park is the Port Jefferson Harbor Sculpture depicting four men carrying a wooden boat. Nearby is a sandy splash pad staring a boat, sea lion statue, and turtle statues that splash water. In the summer children love it. During the rest of the year, it adds to the parks charm. In various places along the walking trail there are kiosks that explain the history of the area and what you are looking at. Speaking of history, the historic Shipyard Building dating back to 1917, also known as Village Center touches the northern periphery of the open grass. From what was once a blighted oil tank and cement site, you have a waterfront park that provides all these amenities. When my Dad and I spent time here, it was always engrossed with people. And, may I add dogs. The circular walking trail, is a popular spot for pet parents to walk their dogs. I like real life waterfront postcards and successful environmental stories. Harborfront Park is the epitonmy of both. There is no doubt that this is a great addition to Port Jefferson Village and my visits to Port Jefferson Village. My story through pictures and views concludes with Four Stars: I am a fan.
