My 12 year old after market stereo took a crap while back and I was finally able to replace it. I went to Car Audio Depot and literally within 30 minutes I had a brand new stereo installed. I can't remember the man's name that helped me but he was very kind and answered all of my questions without trying to up-sell me. I needed a very basic stereo and I got a good quality one for a really good price. While I was waiting for my car to be ready I looked around their showroom and it looks like they have a lot of high and good quality stuff. 2011 Jeep The owner Randy sold me an alarm with remote start, and stereo. Once we agreed and I paid him, they came back and said it's the wrong alarm and I needed to spend $300 more on his mistake. We renegotiated a price, they installed it, the installers told me there's a special procedure to activate the remote start. He sold me something I'll never use. He should have warned me up front. I've had several car stereos and car alarm systems install by Car Audio Depot over a long stretch of years. I really appreciate their honesty, and longevity as an audio establishment in Modesto. I recently went to another well known car audio place in Modesto, and was completely scammed/ripped off. I knew something wasn't right. I want to say Thank-You to Brad King, and the nice Asian man that installed my stereo speakers. They sound great. I got top quality equipment. I didn't get ripped off. They took me into the install bay, and showed me the entire process going on inside of my vehicle. The other place called Audio Pros of Modesto charged me for speakers and installation, and left the stock speakers in instead of replacing them. WOW...bad business practices! MY HISTORY: I have had 5 full stereo installs throughout the years with the different cars that I have owned. High quality sound with lots of bass is a must for me. I wanted to give my full opinion of Car Audio Depot and my experience with them from the perspective of an OCD audio-head, lol. Note: car audio as a whole is full of glitches as every stereo application has many intricacies. CUSTOMER SERVICE AT CAR AUDIO DEPOT: In a word....fantastic! To expand; I dealt with two individuals by the name of Paul and Jeff. I can say that they were both honest and worked very hard to find me the best quality hardware and sound within my budget range. They were both incredibly knowledgeable and gave me advice and perspective, even including things that made them less money. This shop is legit. Soooo much better than Car Audio Pros down McHenry. I've had a full stereo installed with them and I really feel that they just wanted to make a buck and didn't care if I was satisfied. COMPLICATIONS WITH EQUIPMENT: Most installs actually have complications. At least for me. The deck that I ended up going with to save money,against the advice of Jeff, turned out really indeed sucking, lol. He comped me the price of the deck and all that I had to do was pay the difference for the upgraded deck. Then, due to the loud volume of my listening, and mass acceptance of phone calls, my right rear 6 by 9 speaker blew. Paul and Jeff just had me set up an appointment and come in to get it swapped out for a new one, free of charge. This place is a complete joke... At 1st what i thought was going to be a really great place went downhill quick. I went to numerous car audio places and this place was the only place the could do what i was asking... I was wanting to keep my stock stereo and add an ipod connection in order to play music in my car. They were able to order the part and everything was great... I put half down of what the total price that was quoted to me for the parts and install.. Once the part arrived I arrived to have the install completed and after waiting 30min i was told that the part was sold. Are you serious??? Why would you sell the part that was needed for my specific car, knowing that i had a pending appt? So they ordered the part and i had to wait 2 weeks for the install.. I had to keep calling in order to find out when the part was in.. So the day finally came for the install and i arrived and waited about 15min b4 i was even greeted or asked if i needed help.. Then i was told that it was going to take all day for the install? After complaining to the owner or manager and threatened to just take my parts and be refunded for the labor that was never done yet they all of a sudden put my car to the front of the line... Seriously! So then they tell me that they are giving me a deal due to the fact that i shouldve been charged an additionally $60 due to the fact of the complicated install job... WTF... I'm sorry but when i 1st arrived and when i went over what i was looking for and quoted the price i was never told that i was going to cost more. I was given a price and invoice. I paid half of the total and was going to pay the rest once the job was completed. So to then all of a sudden tell me that your doing me a favor by not charging me more is bull****. I took my car in recently because of a stalling problem I was having, thinking it may be connected with the alarm system. I go in there and get a quote on a price, interested in getting a stereo installed because I thought they would be a great place to rely on. I go in 20 min later after getting some cash to get it done. I wait 10 min while two employees are sitting down enjoying their food, when they could have asked me if I needed any help with anything, while the 3rd employer was helping out another customer who was very respectful. So Assuming why I was sitting down. In my position at my job if I'm on break or lunch I take the time out if it and go out of my way to help them, because customer service is more important than my lunch and helping them out of course. So then a lady comes in and he stands up and asks her if she needed help with anything knowing I was waiting for assistance. I felt let out so I took off. You just lost a customer for the day and very disappointed because I was looking forward for a new system for my road trip this weekend. ;(. read more

It's been a few years, but I never forgot how this place took advantage of a customer. Needed a new car security remote to replace my existing remote, so I went here. Person at the counter said they had it in stock and insisted a tech set it up. Tech went out to the truck with me took a whole minute and was done. Went back inside to pay and I was giving a bill for $220 if I recall correctly. I look at both of them and said can't be right. Person behind the counter said $190 for the remote and $30 for the tech. Wow $30 for somebody to push in two button, unbelievable. I later found I could of bought the same remote from another vendor for $80. Although, this happen a few years ago i have never forgotten this encounter. Never went back and I have express that to friend's who thought about it. Customer service goes a long ways not the to bad attitude. Just my opinion. read more

We had to have a breathalyzer put in our 2016 vehicle. Let me just WARN YOU. If you ever need this device installed in your car DONT GO HERE! A 3 hour job turned into a 2 week job. Not only did it take so long for them to install it. One of their techs had some wires left over after putting our car back together and decided we didn't need them. Mind u, he didn't tell us either so my husband picks up car a week later drives off and the brakes start to lock up, all the dash lights turn on..he drives back to the shop and they zip tie god knows what together! 2016 Honda with zip ties wow! Need less to say I speak to Ron let him know this is unacceptable.. nice guy in all. Agrees to make appointment at Honda so they can repair car. Can you guess how many days it's been without a drivable car?? They fix it. Replace the wires needed. Cool. Now our car is locked out due to the breathalyzer thing.. LMAO. Now another week later and Ron will come to my house to fix what needs to be fixed. The installation for this device has been a complete nightmare. Imagine if that was our only car?? I agree with all of you Ron is a very nice guy and has complied with fixing all mistakes. But what about our car being out of commission? I still need to make a full payment although I couldn't use for 2 weeks out of the month. Who's gonna reimburse our time? They tell us to look at the other company for some sort of reimbursement or credit. HA! read more

I've had two car stereos installed at Car Audio Depot and will not be using them ever again. First of all, everything is the customer's fault. On both of my cars there were issues with the installation that made me come back, some times several times, to fix them. The first car was my Camry, which once I left the store the dashboard was rattling like crazy. After three trips to the shop to fix the problem I gave up and had my regular mechanic fix it. The second car (I decided to give them a second chance) was my Highlander, which has a small screen above the stereo that displays the time, temp, AC info, etc. When they were done with it, the screen moved up and down and was obviously displaced. They had also installed the USB port for Apple Car Play incorrectly, and it was also loose and worked sporadically. When I took it in to have it repaired the manager told me that the small screen wasn't part of what they took apart to do the installation but they'd try to fix it. Even though the small screen is literally on top of the stereo unit. When I came back to get my car (after waiting at a fast food place down the street for over two hours and walking up to seeing my car in the parking lot with no call to come get it, even though the manager had said he would call when it was finished) he continued to press that it wasn't their fault and tried to show me pictures of where the screen was and why it wasn't their fault. It was CLEARLY their fault because it didn't move when I brought it in and it moved all over the place after they were done with their installation. They are lazy with their installations (I've had stuff not secured behind the units, loose fittings, backup cameras pointing at the ground, dashboards put back incorrectly, everything you can think of they will mess up) and their arrogant attitude towards the customers is ridiculous. I've learned my lesson. No way will I EVER let them touch any of my cars ever again. Stay away from this place at all costs. read more

I strolled into this establishment when I wanted to remove my stock radio and put in a navigation unit and speakers in my 2005 Mercedes AMG C55. Their inventory and displays were impressive. Accessories of every kind were available. I was a little hesitant to ask too many questions because, quite honestly, the only way I was going to be able to afford doing it was if I installed it myself. I used to build and show cars when I was younger and am quite fussy about doing any after market work on them. My car was difficult to install because it had a fiber optic loop in it, which I definitely didn't understand. I had to buy all my cables, sound proofing, supplies, etc. So I went ahead and asked some questions to see if they were willing to help a mere "do-it-yourselfer" life myself. Much to my surprise they went out of their way to make sure I got the right products, knew how to handle things I had questions about and aided in making my job a success. They were extremely supportive with my endeavors to do it myself and treated me the exact same as other customers even though I wasn't using their installation services (just their products). To sum this up, they can handle the most custom of installations from start to finish and/or help in making sure the jobs done right if you are doing it yourself. read more

Went in and bought a system from armando and with the help of ron. the system was beyond my expectations. i met the tech that worked on my vehicle, it took about a week in the shop but it was well worth it. For the money i spent i was blown away. they went above and beyond my needs. They redesigned my system to fit around my car!!!!! now when i take it to car shows i will be proud to show off my 68 cougar!!!!
