I went to car Toys in humble and bought a new stereo I've had nothing but problems with it since I bought it it's a Kenwood I had to go back and get it changed out and pay more for one with a CD player in it it shorted out on me three different times now it's going to a black screen and they won't do nothing about it said that they can take a look at it but that's it the warranties out on it if you are looking for a glass of lemonade go to car Toys because they are going to sell you nothing but lemons it's sad to say I've been buying stuff for them for over 30 years and I'll never go back again I will go behind them and go to Best buy and anybody who asked me about car toys I will tell them the same thing take your money somewhere else the people there are rude don't know how to treat customers read more

This location is under new ownership after it filed for Chapter 11. The new owners are still using the Car Toys brand but are not honoring the Car Toys warranties on purchases made before October 1, 2025. This means if you purchased in September 2025, your system is no longer covered under warranty. A new owner who will not honor current warranties can not be trusted for future business. I'm not the handiest of handymen...and I didn't want to mess up Ms Pearl...so I came to Car Toys and had them install my android/iPhone adapter...the first time I came here the adapter the aftermarket company mailed to me didn't work...and the installer at Car Toys (GREAT GUY) made sure that the company mailed me a new adapter...when it came in a couple of days later...the same installer put it in and didn't let me leave until I saw that everything worked and I knew how to operate it...the price of installing was $$$...but it's worth it...I rarely drive Ms Pearl...but I want her to have all the bells and whistles...I would recommend Car Toys read more

Had infinity speakers installed in the dash and doors of my 2021 challenger. Not even 2 weeks after install and they go out and back on randomly. I had a lot of mixed feelings coming here, but I'm glad I did since it's been a great experience! I first asked a local group on Facebook of 13k members and they recommended this place and another Car Entertainment. Reading the review from the other place on Google was horrific. Meth heads, gun pulling installers, and just plain harassment! THANK GOODNESS THIS PLACE CAR TOYS WAS NOT THAT AT ALL. I scheduled with Best Buy and the installers there quoted $300 out the door and they admitted they weren't too familiar with my car and recommended a place next to Home Depot. We looked it up and sure enough it was Car Toys. I walked in around 4 pm and Kat greeted me right away, she wandered off to help another customer and gave me some space to figure out what I wanted to ask and when I was ready I was able to get service right away. They looked up my vehicle, and the system said that they were able to install with my original keys for $400+ I went with that since I figured I didn't want to get another set of fobs. Payment was easy and she took my keys quoted 2.5 hours and got started. I opted to wait since I didn't really want to go anywhere else and it was a good thing since 45 mins passed, the tech comes in and tells me and Kat that the system isn't compatible with my car and I needed to get something with separate fobs. Their instructions were incorrect and after opening up my dash, I already had something there (I bought the car used) that would kill the starter. They didn't charge me extra to disconnect that. I went ahead and picked the least expensive one since I just wanted an autostart and it was about $230 out the door with taxes. They started on that and it became clear that my car would be stubborn. It was supposed to be an easy install but the tech struggled to flash the system and the store closed at 6 pm. What was amazing was that Kat and Tony the sales consultants AND the techs B and another gentleman working another car, stayed the ENTIRE time until the job was done for me knowing I had toddlers at home and couldn't take another day to get it done. So of course I had to order them some pizza for missing out on dinner and family time, so we had ourselves a little pizza party waiting on my car. They finished at 9 pm and took the time to give me instructions, make sure I knew how to use it, and also went over what they did. David the service manager was a transfer from Willowbrook in the past 6 months and was given the task of cleaning the store up since they were having so many issues with customer service with the last team. He's done a phenomenal job but since he's dealing with legacy hold overs from the poor installs and customer service before his team was moved here, the times for install is affected and can be a little slow, as they've fired the people that weren't doing their jobs and have hired new installers. Be patient, they're doing their best to fix what the old store did, and they're doing a phenomenal job in my opinion. I'll definitely use them again for other car accessories and also recommend them to my friends and family! read more

We brought our Lexus in to replace the window tint on the driver's side as it was beginning to tear at the bottom. We met Kat at the front desk, and Daniel gave us a bid, and I asked them to look at the passenger side, also with a slight tear at the bottom. It would have been easy for him to recommend a new tint, but he advised that the tear was much smaller and was on the rarely used passenger side. He recommended I just wait, and if it got worse, he would take another look at it. Much appreciated the honesty and professionalism. They were Very courteous and Very professional, the price was right, and the tint job was perfect. He noticed an old hood bonnet job was cracking and advised that if he cleaned it off now, he could do a great job, but it would be impossible to do a good job if we waited another summer or two. He gave a quote that was LESS THAN A THIRD OF TWO OTHER BIDS, both of whom gave the same caution. We'll be back to Car Toys Humble to have them clean the bonnet. If you want to get overcharged for OK service go here. Was quoted an outrageous price for minimal service, all they had to do was install my equipment in the trunk nothing more nothing less. Way to lose a potential customer and possibility to gain more customers. 650$ to install my amp and 8" subwoofer? Bc i have 0gauge wire? What? I run 0 gauge in all my cars. Regardless this literally takes a hour max talking about 650$. I know how to tune etc. i just needed a quick install. I figured they'd be faster than myself and charge ATLEAST half of what I was quoted... Boi was i wrong. RIDICULOUS- And I spoke with Marcus from HWY 59 location in Humble seemed like I knew more than him 2. Glad I called first (THEY DONT WANT WORK). But charging top tier quality prices. Could tell he don't do quality work from his tone- Idk where he got that number even from. Honestly rather do it myself. I live close by and figured I'd reach out to the good ppl i once remember. When it comes to Audio equipment BEWARE ‼ Must be new managment.. about 8 years back took my cars here, I don't know what happened. Go elsewhere, and save your car. Trust me. Kind of attitude reminded me why i learned 2 do the work myself, full of gimmick & Typing up made up quotes- all i heard was that Keyboard Clicking. I am a returning customer, more like a gluten for punishment. I had some speakers installed a year ago. Had to take my car back twice due to shoddy wiring. I was advised they used cheap connectors. I was cool about it, I know stuff happens. Today I stop in to ask for some help with the settings on my amp. Wouldn't take some own who knew what they were doing a couple of minutes to see what the issue was. They were to busy to help, which really doesn't surprise me. I ended up getting more help at the Kingwood Carwash next to Lowe's. Go figure!! I'll go out of my way to avoid this place. They are too busy for me!! read more

Don't expect to be greeted or helped when walking into this establishment

My 10 yr after market alarm was giving me problems on my 2005 Nissan Maxima so I decided to go to Car Toys. I purchased a New alarm on 9/4/15. They called me after 9 hours and told me my car was ready. When I drove my car home, my AC was blowing hot air and the AC controls weren't working the way they were supposed to. I returned to Car Toys and brought it back the same night. I'll write a follow-up to this review once they get it right. Go in for a new alarm and come out with AC not working.....seriously? The following day (9/5/15) Pedro, the installer calls to tell me that my car is ready and that the reason my AC was blowing hot air was because it was pulling air from the outside?? My husband and I get to Car Toys and the AC is still doing the same thing: blowing hot air at every setting above 60 degrees and the controls won't stay on auto, recirculate air and blow on your face. This was working fine before I dropped it off and they maintain that their work wouldn't have affected the AC. Yet, here we are with a issue that did not exist prior to my car being in their possession. We took the car to Robbins Nissan on 9/8/15 and they found a sensory plug for the AC "unplugged ". It cost us $110. We took the paid invoice to Car Toys and Brent Janak reimbursed us the full amount. I am pleased that Car Toys reimbursed us but a little disappointed that we had to take the initiative to find what I feel they should have taken the time to catch. If you unplug something, then plug it back when you're done and treat the customer as if she is crazy or making up things. read more

Well, I hate to do this, but here is the deal. My first impression of these guys was great. They absolutely bent over backwards trying to help me out for my install. These guys really work hard. I had to have my install complete the same day. They were willing to do whatever it took to get it done. One of the employees even brought me home, and picked me up. They were actually very friendly and polite. Jorge, the manager, is super cool. I really like all of them on a personal level. Now let's talk business... Post install brought frustration. I began to feel a tad less appreciated after I started to have issues with the radio. There were some personal issues with an employee that got ironed out. I tried to be understanding and just move forward. So they got on looking into the problems I was having. After taking everything apart and putting it all back the radio seems fine again. Loose wire. Bad wire. Don't know. My biggest complaint at this point is how they handled my vehicle. They were careless when putting everything back together the second time. Dominique, and at least one other technician tried to cut corners instead of doing things the right way and ended up damaging and/or breaking some of the parts inside my vehicle. Not good.. They fixed one thing. Some of the damage remains. Will I go back? On a personal level, absolutely. On a business level. No way. Unfortunately I will not be doing business there again. read more

Worst place to do business at.... By the time I left this place I felt robbed for the first time... Everything is nice and friendly but as soon as you pay for the things .... Attitude totally changed they don't care anymore... My mistake was trusting them to do their JOB.... But I a was really wrong ... First I go back to address some problems I notice with radio... And no help at all ... I took at 11 am and they didn't even touch my truck till 4pm... To call me and tell me that I needed to spend more money on speakers.... Then I paid all this extra money for a back up camera and they install a cheap camera that doesn't even work with my truck.... Their solution was to actually bend my license plate to fix my problem... I thought I was doing business with professionals but I was totally WRONG... I ASKED NICELY FOR THEM TO FIX MY PROBLEMS AND THEY REFUSE... SO I SPEND CLOSE TO A 1000 Bucks for a new radio that turns off ...And a camera That does not work....What a waste of time and money .?I WILL BE REPORTING THEM TO THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU... read more

I've been doing business with car toys in humble for about 8 years now. I like to upgrade my audio in most every car I've owned. I've had a couple of small things not go quite right but, they've always made it right. It's mostly been equipment issues not install issues. I learned a long time ago, don't wait for your install! Most times they call me to come pick up much sooner than I expect. All the guys seem real good there these days. Alex, Jonathan, Dave and Mike in the back - they all want to get it right and want you to have a good experience. They'll take the time to come out and show you how the new product works. One of the guys gave me his cell and told me to call any time there's an issue. They will price match and authorized dealers price but you have to ask! Their price was initially competitive. Want to compliment, and recommend the professionalism of Glenn, a Management Team Member, and Omar, an Installer. I came in to seek information on an effective car alarm system, and a potential car stereo upgrade. Glenn was very knowledgeable and asked appropriate questions to ensure a good decision on both items. He discussed the features and benefits associated with products on both items. He professionally answered all my questions. He walked me through the all cost details on both items. There were no hidden surprises. Candidly, both items were not cheap, but you get good value for what you spend. I wanted high quality and dependable service. I am very comfortable that I achieved my objectives on both items. Omar did an excellent job of installing both the alarm system, and the stereo system. The fit and finish of the installation were excellent. After he completed the installation, he spent quality time familiarizing me with the operations of both products. As a side note on the high quality of service, here is an anecdote. The day after the installation, I dropped by unannounced to ask a question about the speaker system. Glenn and Omar dropped everything and answered my question. It turned out that there was an issue that was totally not associated with the installation. Omar made repairs on the spot at no cost to me. I was very impressed. Reading other reviews, I candidly find serious culpability on the part of other customers. Not asking questions, having unrealistic expectations as to pricing is not the fault Car Toys. You get what you pay for. Professionalism and quality will never be cheap. read more

Terrible experience. The first time I came in I was greeted by a gentleman who helped us by showing us around the store. Not after too long another worker came over and completely disregarded the gentleman who was talking with us and took over. While we were figuring out the prices for everything at the check out, a few other workers started gossiping about another customer that they were dealing with. They then told us to "cover our ears" because they didn't want us to hear the derogatory language that the customer used apparently. We made an appointment for the following Thursday and they told me that the entire procedure should take about 5 hrs for my car. They told me that they have worked on many SSR's and that they were very experienced with it... I dropped my car off at 10:30 this morning and I never received a phone call about the car. I went to the store at 7:00 and they said it would still take 45 more mins. I expressed to them that it has been almost 9 hours since I dropped off my car, and the worker was very short and disrespectful towards me. He simply said that SSR's were difficult to work on. Keep in mind that they told me they were very experienced with this type of car, and if that was the case then they should have known that it would take longer than 5 hrs to work on. It is now 7:54 and my car still isn't ready. The store closes at 8:00 and after I expressed that to the worker he simply just said "I know". I am very upset with this place and really wished that I had read these reviews before I decided to place my business here. Steer very clear from this place. Absolute GARBAGE!!!! Stay away from this place.... I've had the worst experience in my entire life with trash place. I spent several thousand dollars at this store only to be totally SCREWED!!! After the installation of my Alpine system, I had to return to the store three times to have several things fixed such as calibration of the backup camera, sensitivity of the alarm system, and improper installation of the satellite antenna....All of which cost me several hours of waiting each time. Then, I noticed my dashboard was cracked about 4 inches down the passenger side of the dash as well as another complete break across the front of the dash. Being that these damages were on the passenger side of the dash, I didn't notice them until a little over a week later when I was detailing my truck. I knew since this amount of time had passed, there was no way they would take responsibility for this. This ended up costing me $1,200.00 out of my pocket for a new dashboard. The next problem was that the navigation went out on the radio. They would not honor the warranty and after waiting three months for my radio head unit to return from the repair place they mailed it off to, they charged me $250.00 for the repair. While waiting 8 and a half hours for them to put my radio back in my truck, they tech broke my $600.00 backup camera and would not take responsibility for this but had no problem in selling me a new one.... I left the store Sunday evening. While driving home I noticed my XM radio was not working. After numerous attempt to refresh the signal and several phone calls with XM techs, it has been determined that the satellite antenna is malfunctioning. To top it off, the clock on the radio will not stay set. You can set it to the correct time, turn off the track and turn it back on and it changes back. Frankly, this is just a bunch of bullshit that has cost me a lot of money out of my pocket, hours upon hours of waiting and frustration as well as unjust treatment and service. I've called the "help" line and left a message with part of my complaint and am currently waiting on a response. I highly recommend staying away from this store and entire company. I would rather buy my audio equipment from Walmart and pay a crack head to install it. read more

I am writing about thecar toys location in Humble, Texas. My experience was horrible, I was told upon my arrival the classic detail for my vehicle would take 4 hrs and 6 hrs later my car still wasn't ready. I made an appointment as soon as they opened at 9am and was the first customer and only customer there for hrs. I was told only when I asked what was taking so long after waiting 5 hrs they were short staffed and it could be an hr or more before they would be done. For a basic detail all that is included is shampooing of the floors and cleaning of the panels I do not understand why this would take 6 hrs even short staffed. I saw numerous customers that arrived hrs after me leave before me, and since I was here first I should've been made a priority. They didn't even have the common courtesy to let me know they were short staffed when I came in or even after I waited over 5 hrs. I will NEVER come back to car toys again, and based off the unprofessional actions of the company I would recommend any potential customers, go somewhere else. ANYWHERE. read more

I've got one better at this Car Toy store!!! February 23 & 24 , I took my DMX in for one of the DVD videos not playing on the drivers side, were a newborn rides, so basically when I had the 3rd set of DVD replaced (2 I paid for, 3rd was still under warranty or so I thought) I was told I would have to buy another set- was no longer under warranty, which I was a little upset about, as it replaced the 2nd. set which should have had warranty left on it. But they weren't going to honor the warranty on 3rd. set because I didn't pay for another extended warranty on the 3rd one. Mind you no one ever used the drivers side video, a baby car seat was there, when she went into a bigger seat, turned it around so she could watch the video also. The card board was still in the video!!. Passenger side is a master, so the oldest grandson has the control, drivers side plays the same video. Long story short George talked to the manager and they said they would go ahead and send it in for repair for me, no charge----I thought that was very nice and thanked them, I knew they were going to honor product and service. Well here it is May 23rd and I don't know how many calls later to George at the shop and still no video back!!!! The answer is always the same-in process- didn't know anything yet-will call when they knew anything. I myself would not use the company that does repairs for them if it takes this long to get one DVD video fixed!!!! 3 MONTHS is just ridiculous, even if they were going to honor fixing it for no-charge! Its like they'll tell you anything to get you off the phone and then there are no results for the endless calls you've made about the same problem. I will not go to this particular store ever again.Sorry to say I don't trust them with my cars anymore and will just call so I can see how long it takes to get my headrest back and take it to another place to see if they can fix it. HORRIBLE customer service (for the 2nd time). After installing Dynamat, the door panel on my jaguar f-type was not popped back in all the way. I called when I got home and noticed it, and was told by the install manager to show up the next morning at 8:30 (30 minutes before opening) so he could take care of it before the crowd started coming. I arrived at 8:25 and he did not show until 9:05. Wasted 40 minutes of my Saturday morning. When he strolled in he acted as though he did not even know me, and all he had to say was "I had a conference call", then walked off. Not even an apology. Last time I was there with my Mercedes SLK350, they were detailing my car and cracked the windshield by accidentally yanking off the wiper blade with the rag, causing the arm to smash into the glass. They tried to tell me that it was already like that (I had just purchased the car 2 days prior). This was their 2nd and FINAL chance. No wonder they are always receiving negative reviews. I will be sure to tell everyone I know to NEVER go there. read more

Worst experience I've had at a car toys. Walked in didn't get greeted just looked at us and walked to the back. We stood around for 10/15 min until somebody came over to ask us what we WANTED. We were the only ones in the store at the time so I know they weren't tied up helping anybody else. Asked about some remote start systems and he was very short with us didn't explaining nothing all he pointed out was the price that we obviously see just seemed like it didn't want to help us at all. I explained to him I was checking out there website as I was WAITING for somebody to come help us and noticed that the price of the unit that we were going to buy was on sale on there site and was wonder if they price match and was told no they don't match there own online price and that the system must be some closed out systems that there trying to get rid of. Then I explained that it's the same exact system that we were looking at to buy. I show him my phone so he could see it as well and tells me it's cheaper because that price doesn't include install so I scroll down and show him yes it states right here standard install is included with purchase then he get a little quite. Then he goes on to tell me price doesn't include a lock module so I tell him well the price on the unit in store doesn't include one either so he tells me yeah you have to buy one as well but we will install for free but if u buy the online unit we would charge to install the lock module so I show him well on the paper of install prices you guys have posted right here says all prices include install for upgrades which the lock module was. He goes to tell me well this is the price I can only offer if you're interested let me know and he just walks away! So I tell my wife let's leave I'm not giving my money to a place that's this rude and doesn't care about customers one bit. I've spent plenty of money at different car toys locations and had great experiences but after dealing with this rude as sales person I will NEVER be spending a dime at any location ever again!! Horrible service I recommend everybody avoid this place and look else where if you're in the market for any car accessories. STAY AWAY FROM THIS LOCATION!! Jonathan waited on us, he was knowledgeable on the products and demonstrated several, within our budget constraints. He spent a fair amount of time with us and quoted several options. We left to contemplate our choices and to retrieve my son's gift certificate. To our dismay the cleaning service had inadvertently thrown the gift card away. I agreed to purchase the products, but spoke with General Manager Brent Janak- who offered to try and locate the gift certificate in their system and after verifying with their corporate office that it had not been used, he was able to issue me a refund for the amount of the gift card $500.00. This took considerable effort on his part. I was most impressed as he had the sale, but chose to do extra work to save me a considerable amount of money. Upon completion of the stereo package, Jonathan sat in the vehicle and demonstrated the features of the equipment and provided us with his card in case additional questions came up later. last week roughly Jan 6th 2016 I took my car to this location to get my car alarm removed on my 2001 Toyota I have had a system I'm my car since the day I bought it I installed my amplifier and subs and deck and Everything worked perfectly until I place it in the "Professional's hands" and tell why after I paid the 80 bucks and got my car back my bass wasn't working today I just got around to going to take a look at it to check my remote wire power wire fuses between the battery and amp audio cables ground wire and etc. So I call up and explain to the same gentleman my concern and he tells me to bring it In and it would be a service .... I will not be back kiss my ass! Ya let me just pay you some more to screw my car up more than what the issue was when I worked hard for a 2001 corolla while I work full-time and am going to school full-time ...That's bad business.
