I've called over four times to request my labs get sent to a different dermatologist in Littleton. No one has called me back. I have received an additional bill as well. I would steer clear of Cara Mia if you are looking for skin cancer screening. I'm sure they have other strengths but based on my experience as well my daughter's experience in the last few months, they have missed or mis-diagnosed skin cancer and/or pre-skin cancer on 2 out of 2 people for 2 out of 2 visits. That's flat out scary. We both went for 2nd opinions and both of those appointments revealed the fact that spots Cara Mia missed or mis-diagnosed were cancer or pre-cancer as well as some spots Cara Mia wanted to biopsy, were nothing to worry about, for both of us. And on top of that, within minutes of the start of the exam, the Cara Mia started freezing off 7 spots that who knows if they were pre-cancer or not. It felt like there was a lot of up-selling happening but I can't be positive, just my hunch. But most importantly to miss skin cancer is just dangerous on their part. read more

They used to be great but now not so much. I WAS a patient for 15+ years, but then I had a SEVERE allergic reaction while out of the country. I called on a Wed, while still out of the country, for an emergency appt on Friday. I would take anything they had at any location in Denver. They told me no, they can get me in on Monday. I went to a different derm who immediately put me on 60mg prednisone bc the allergic reaction was so severe. I won't go back. read more

Avoid Advanced Dermatology in Denver at all costs! I had an absolutely terrible experience with this office. I paid $160 in copays for a visit that should have been coded as wound care, which would have meant no copay. Both the doctor and the receptionist agreed that this was the case, yet the office's billing department miscoded everything. I tried to resolve the issue and reached out multiple times to the office manager--who completely ignored my calls. Then, to top it all off, the billing department threatened to send me to collections over a mistake that was entirely on their end. This feels like nothing short of insurance fraud, and I am beyond frustrated with how unprofessional and unresponsive they've been. I shouldn't have to pay for their mistakes, especially when everyone in the office acknowledges it. Stay far away from this place unless you want to deal with billing nightmares and zero accountability. read more

Went in for a routine PDT facial treatment. The amount of time I saw the dermatologist was a blink in the eye. The whole experience seemed rushed. There were no handouts on post-procedure care given; a few words by a tech was it. I'd give zero stars if I could. DO NOT GO HERE!!! I needed to have something looked at and explained to the PA I saw, Jonathan Cox, that if the initial round of steroids and antibiotics did not work, I wanted to have an excision as soon as possible. This is due to the fact that I was leaving the country shortly thereafter. He assured me he understood and we could do that. Two weeks later, when I booked another appointment for the excision, he had completely forgotten and told me I should've made an appointment on an outpatient surgery day and there was nothing he could do - even though he never mentioned this at my first appointment. He also used the wrong billing code for my insurance so I was charged close to $350 in total and still wasn't offered any useful treatment. THIS PLACE IS A SCAM!! I spent hours on the phone with both the billing team and front office and got nowhere. On a separate occasion, I also had a lump checked by a different doctor who kept me waiting for almost an hour and then spent less than 3 minutes in the room telling me "I don't know what that is. It could be cancer. Go see a dentist.". Spoiler alert: it was not cancer. My dentist was also very confused why I'd been referred there for that kind of an issue. What kind of a doctor casually mentions something like cancer and then walks out??? Oh and this appointment cost me over $100 even though I was seen for less than 5 minutes. Seriously, find a different dermatologist. My main regret is giving them a second chance. Health care professionals are supposed to help their patients, not disregard their treatment needs, terrify them with false diagnoses, and then overcharge for lack of treatment on your way out the door. My husband and son arrived for 6:45 am and 6:55 am appointments at 9570 Kingston St at 6:45 am. We filled out all paperwork in advance and checked in online. Reece, at the front desk and refused to give a last name refused to see them because they weren't 15 minutes early. Advanced Dermatology does everything on an 800 number and sends texts and emails. She said they left a message to arrive 15-20 minutes early. That's not even part of their huge corporate SOP to call and leave messages. I have no idea why they refused to see them. If you value your time and want to be seen as a valued patient, do not go to an Advanced Dermatology office. read more

I do not recommend Advanced Dermatology. The doctors have been ok but they seem rushed. Additionally, the phone staff and the nurse I spoke to was incredibly rude. They forgot to send a prescription to my pharmacy and then did not apologize for their mistake. When asked to send the prescription to a different pharmacy the woman acted extremely inconvenienced and hung up on me. It was incredibly poor customer service!! read more

If I could give zero stars I would. We've been going to this practice for over a decade (Dr. Lemon) and since they sold to Advanced Dermatology it's been absolutely terrible. From not returning phone calls to scheduling issues, the latest pushed us over the edge. Sadly, the doctors are great, but the office staff and billing/coding are terrible. My 17 year old daughter showed up for her visit (which she's been going alone to since she was 16 and got her license) and they refused to see her without a parent. She called us and they wouldn't budge. So they forced her to reschedule (couldn't get an appt. until 3 weeks later) and then emailed us the form. We returned it, emailed confirmation and heard nothing. She went again and they tried to turn her away...but her doctor (Dr. Allyson) happened to walk by and said it was ok since she'd talked to me. I have yet to get a response, called corporate, emailed Perisha Jones at the clinic and no response. Not only that but they they prescribed a $350 topical cream that insurance wouldn't pay for because they coded it without a diagnosis and no one will call us back to recode it. WORST office management ever. It's truly too bad as the providers are all lovely, but it's not worth the hassle. read more

I really like the doctors here and have been going for 15+ years. BUT - the phone system, scheduling and the uninformed people you get on the phone are truly awful. I just spent 25 mins trying to reschedule a simple skin check appointment with the guy (Jose) saying over and over "ok, ok." I finally lost my patience and said "ok, you're booking a new appt?" I've been coming to Advanced Dermatology for many years. Last year I used another provider for insurance reasons, but this year I returned. First, it took a very long time to book my appointment because I somehow had 3 charts. I spent over an hour on the phone (actually on and off, as my first and second call were dropped with no call back), simply to book. When I did finally book, my "Annual preventative skin check" they asked me if there was anything wrong. I said that there was not and that I schedule a preventative check every year. After the appointment I received a bill. I was puzzled because this appointment has always been free. When I called my insurance provider they informed me that the preventative care code was not used. It took a week for me to reach Billing at Advanced Derm. Their system returned my call with a recording telling me to call and the cycle continued until a human finally answered. When I asked them to resend the bill with the preventative code, they informed me that they no longer do preventative care. I called to speak to the office manager and when I asked why they would book an appointment that they do not offer, she informed me that I should have done my due diligence. So, I'm doing that now. DO NOT USE THIS PROVIDER and save yourself an administrative mess with unauthorized charges. read more
