I took my 17-year-old daughter to Dr. Margaret Muldrow for a dermatology appointment and was shocked by how dismissive and unprofessional the visit was. The doctor "diagnosed" her within about two seconds of walking in the room -- without asking a single question or listening to any background about the issue. She immediately claimed it was "definitely allergies" and brushed off the fact that this has been going on for three years and that my daughter doesn't wear makeup regularly. She wouldn't hear anything we had to say and just wanted to refer us to an allergy specialist. We paid an $80 copay for less than five minutes of her time. Since we were already there, I asked if she could at least do a quick mole check. She said we'd have to schedule another appointment for that, and then turned to my daughter and smugly said, "And we can assess your acne then as well." My daughter does not have acne -- she works hard to keep her skin clear -- and this unnecessary comment was hurtful and unprofessional, especially to a teenager who is already self-conscious about her skin. This visit felt rushed, careless, and completely lacking in empathy. I would not recommend this practice to anyone. read more

BEWARE Dr. Muldrow. I see people saying, "I should have read the reviews," and I cannot agree with them enough. Firstly, I waited 35 minutes past my appointment time to be taken back. When I got back, Dr. Muldrow brusquely rushed through my appointment. I mentioned I had a few concerns to address and they seemed like an inconvenience to her. When I brought up a dry patch on my face, she said to her assistant, "Let's zap that," and before I knew what was happening, she was spraying something cold and painful on my face. No explanation of what she was about to do, no consent asked for, no mention of what she thought the dry patch was and the treatment required. Just, I have a dry patch, and then within 15 seconds she was "zapping it." It stung considerably and I said, pointedly, "Ow..." And when it became apparent she was not going to explain what she had just done, I asked what it was for. She told me that they "do that" for some condition (I later looked up and I think she said "actinic keratosis" though I'm not 100% sure). She used the word "pre-cancerous." I was a bit concerned-- but she said not to worry without offering any explanation. I asked what the aftercare was for what she had just done and she just shrugged and said, "Keep it clean." After doing my research at home, I believe it was liquid nitrogen, and I see it is a very common procedure that requires little effort in aftercare and people very commonly see positive results. I'm sure I would have been fine with it if she had explained what she was intending to do. But the shock of being sprayed in the face with liquid nitrogen, causing a superficial burn, without warning or consent, was very upsetting. I ended up forgetting to ask about another issue I had meant to bring up because I was shaken. I called back a few days later and asked if I could pop in to have them take a quick look at the other issue, since Dr. Muldrow pulled the surprise freeze attack on me and I forgot to bring it up. The front desk informed me that I'd have to make another appointment and pay for it. I said that would not be acceptable and I wanted to talk to someone about Dr. Muldrow's behavior. She put me on hold, talked to her manager, and talked to Dr. Muldrow directly. When she came back she said Dr. Muldrow let her know that she does always obtain consent for procedures and unfortunately they would need to schedule another appointment. She said I didn't have a co-pay so it wouldn't be a problem. I explained that I don't have a co-pay to pay upfront but the cost of the appointment DOES come back to me, of course. I said it if it was not possible for me to stop in and not have to pay for another appointment (which I would not have had to do if I'd not had a procedure completed with no warning or consent), that I'd like to speak to someone about the incident. I was put on hold briefly again and when she came back she said Dr. Muldrow would call me directly later that evening. I said that if I speak with Dr. Muldrow, I'm sure that's where it would end, and I wanted to speak with someone who could document the event. I said I was worried there was a pattern of this behavior and if I spoked with Dr. Muldrow directly, I was sure it would not be documented. I was told that wouldn't be possible and the best they could do would be to connect me with the provider. I said I'd be looking for a new provider and would leave my story online instead and the response was, "Sounds good!" This is as factual an account as I could create and I hope it helps some future patients! Dr. Muldrow comes off as very knowledgeable and I usually appreciate a no-nonsense approach. However, if you're going to cause a burn on someone's face, however superficial, I really do feel you should ask first. read more

Trying to cancel an appointment for Tuesday, but there is no voicemail system set up that allows for a voicemail and no email listed to email. I have app messaged the provider but there should be a Front Desk email and a voicemail. At the end of their phone message it states to leave a voicemail, but there's no beep... There's only silence and then Tells you the extension you were calling is invalid. No voicemails allowed to be left. Can somebody please contact me as i would like to cancel and am within my cancelation period. Update: when I called their business and received the voice message I pressed one (randomly, there are no prompts) but I think it took me to the on-call provider. They did call me back and said they would cancel the appointment, but this should not be the responsibility of the provider but the responsibility of the front desk (please set up voicemail). I've decided that ANY other dermatologist would be better than Dr. Muldrow. She is more interested in profit maximization than care for the patient. In December 2022, I asked her to check something on my back, showing her a photo of the area of concern. She spent 0.5 seconds looking at it and then declared it was nothing. She then proceeded to freeze off several skin tags, something I did not request and was not prepared for. Such a procedure is a bit painful and definitely ugly for several days. I say she's a profit maximizer as she gets paid for each skin tag she removes. Also, because my personal experience has been that she spends as little time as possible with the patient. read more

I am pushing 50 and know what my skin concerns are and want them treated effectively and efficiently so I can get back to job, kids, everything else. I understand if you are just learning about skin issues or want a warm and fuzzy experience it might not be for you. That said a gown would have been nice for a full body mole check. I saw Whitney Johnston yesterday for a skin cancer screening. (It's $225 out of pocket an extra cost for any removal procedures.) She was light-hearted in her approach and it made me feel at ease, because it's otherwise an uncomfortable appointment. I had an appt this morning for a full body check and to look at a mole on my face that recently was changing a bit. I appreciated the safety precautions being taken in the office and felt very safe. The office is in the St. Luke's hospital and was easy to find. Dr. Muldrow was kind and listened to my concerns. She checked me over from head to toe and examined the mole on my face. She referred me out to a plastic surgeon to have it removed because it would scar and is in a prominent location. She talked me through my risk factors being so fair skinned and told me specifically what I needed to look for and how it differs from the advice to other folks. I appreciated her attention to detail and also checking to see if I was planning on getting the Covid vaccine when my turn in line came. I could tell she was doing her part to answer questions and allay any fears regarding the vaccine which I really respected. I will be back again next year for another full body check. read more

What a disgusting experience. My butt is literally hanging out as the doctor opens the door and she proceeds to come in anyways - blatant disrespect. Why did she even knock if she was going to come in anyways? Any other professional would profusely apologize and close the door immediately. This female doctor zoomed around so fast as if she were high on cocaine - it was absolutely dizzying and mortifying. She checked nothing and was going to do nothing for $200. She was in and out in 30 seconds. Insane. I told them (doc and her assistant) that I wanted the cherry angiomas on my face removed and they ignored me, I told them there were two tiny moles that I wanted sliced off on my back and they ignored me, and I told her to check my hairline because I found something there the other day that previous dermatologists always zapped off when they find them on my fair skin (they're like tiny pre-cancerous bumps you zap off so you don't actually get skin cancer) and she ignored me. This place was in a hospital not a private dermatology business - I didn't realize this until I arrived (the name can trick you). She said nothing and checked nothing and did nothing to my skin... so I had to keep advocating for my needs. The only time they got super excited was when I asked her for tretinoin cream - like some big pharma addicts drooling at the mouth. She finally zapped a few things on my back for an extra $80 because I said of course I'll pay extra. I'm not sure why they wouldn't zap everything else that I requested since I told them I was paying out of pocket for this dermatology Appt. They made it pretty clear they didn't have time for cosmetic requests, and they don't do preventative... even though there were no other patients there! She also pointed to a spot on my leg and said "scar" which was wrong. At this point, I just didn't even correct her because she was clearly on some ego trip and had no idea what she was doing. I just wanted out. There were so many things that I had come there for and she literally was not going to fix one of them. I could've gone to a different dermatologist and they would've taken care of everything for the same price they wanted to charge me for doing almost nothing. Ridiculous. Here they treat you like a number, you're just another hog in the slaughter house. She was in and out of there in 30 seconds and could care less - there weren't even any other patients in the entire building either. I highly recommend going to cosmetic dermatologists only - private businesses generally value their customers, take their time, listen, want to do their best, etc...As I left the room, I found her in the hallway leaning back in her chair on the telephone and she wouldn't even glance at me. That whole 30 seconds was like some sort of sick psychological manipulation tactic they use on patients. Most patients don't know how to advocate for themselves either, so I feel really bad for them. Saw Migs, was the worst experience I have EVER had with a doctor. Wish I had read these reviews before going, that woman is a terrible doctor and should be ashamed at the way she makes people feel who are coming to her for help. I will take my business elsewhere, where I'm listened to and not spoken over. Also, haranguing me over accutane and "being comfortable aborting my baby if it had its brain outside its body" was incredibly triggering. I definitely feel comfortable in Dr. Muldrow's capable hands. Her goal is to be sure you have perfect, healthy skin, and she does what it takes to get you there. I haven't had any major skin troubles (never was a tanner), but I am in the office pretty frequently due to a medication I'm taking. The front office staff, Irene and Reggie, are always friendly and efficient. The only reason it's not a five star review is because the doc does usually seem a little rushed - but, they are always busy. Persistent whole body skin rash that's been part of my life for 6 months. First visit She recommends antihistamine, steroids and a daily 40 minute moisturizing routine. Cool, of course that's going to help irritated skin. When my skin seemed to be healing, I had my second visit and voiced concerns that the rash left scars and if there was something she could do to help the scars. She said that I need to keep moisturizing and that the "scars" are probably not scars and would go away easily. (If she would have actually looked at my skin she would have seen the pitting scars in my arms. Definitely not part of the rash.. ) The second visit She also said to take a diluted bleach bath. I was hesitant, because putting irritated skin in a tub with bleach doesn't sound right. I should have trusted my gut. I made the bleach bath (even more diluted than she recommended) and since that night I haven't been able to sleep from how much pain my skin is in. Most of my body was covered in hives and I have scarring all over my body. She refused to see me and help. She does not communicate what her theories are and is rude. This woman is not here to help you and does not care about you. read more

I am sorry to say but she has very little bedside manner or professionalism in regards to explaining painful procedures before she does them. I find it almost insensitive and barbaric to start removing skin tags around a persons eye without numbing them in anyway. Using scissors to cut off skin, no indication that it will hurt. No lidocaine cream or injection. She may have a good reputation but it is obvious she is on a tight schedule. Btw she did co2 on some spots as well. It seems Dr. Muldrow is somewhat of a Jekel and Hyde. I read over some positive reviews here and wonder if we speak of the same doctor. Then I read the negative reviews, and I'm like, "ah, yes, that's the same doctor." So I scheduled an appointment to be seen for some moles on my chest and rosacea irritation on my face. The doctor came in with two interns (*note, I was not asked permission before having these two additional sets of eyes observing my appointment.). She looked at the moles, said they weren't of concern and that if I wanted them removed, it would be $200 each. Okay, bedside manner is not off to a good start. Then she looks at my face, writes down a prescription, and tells me to use Cetaphil (basically just water and chemical ingredients) and the antibiotic and anti-fungal creams on my face! She didn't ask about the regimen I currently use or inquire if I have sensitive skin. She also acted like she was either in a hurry or just plain bored with my concerns. I felt like I was in a factory. Well, I used the creams she prescribed, and my face broke out in pustules. It was disgusting. After using the creams for about a month, I discontinued use after reading about these creams' side effects. I wasted money on creams that irritated my face MORE and decided to use a vitamin C serum instead. (Which, btw, has been a game-changer, my skin is glowing, and the pustules are gone.) I am really frustrated with the experience I had with Dr. Mulgrow. The receptionists were very friendly and efficient at Denver Dermatology Center, but otherwise, my experience was terrible. Any dermatologist who cares about the people they see should take the time to go over their concerns and questions, offer thoughtful feedback and prescribe medications based on their skin type. I did not receive such care from this dermatologist and will not be returning to this clinic again. read more

I've been so impressed with the care at Denver Dermatology Center. I'd recommend them to anyone looking for medical dermatology. I came to the practice with a tough case of rosacea that's gotten progressively worse. Healing rosacea takes time, experimentation and patience. Since I'd already tried the first line medications with another provider, with limited success, I got frustrated and gave up. When I was ready to deal with my rosacea again, I came to Denver Dermatology for help. Initially, I was worried that a new provider would ask me to try (and fail) all of the standard treatments before looking at alternatives. Usually this process takes several months. I shared my anxiety with Erika Guider, who was very empathetic and open to trying alternatives. Because I had records from my other physician, we were able to explore other medications in my first appointment. And when my insurance carrier was hesitant to cover them, the practice went above and beyond to get them authorized. This involved more bureaucracy than one can imagine -- I cannot say enough good things about the professionalism and thoroughness of the staff. I've been thrilled with the progress I've made on this new regimen, which has done so much for my self-esteem and well-being. If you're concerned about getting care in the midst of the pandemic, Denver Dermatology offers telemedicine. The telemedicine system was even more convenient than an in-person appointment and very easy to use. read more

I agree with most of the other one or two-star reviews. -- Dr. Muldrow spent barely 5 minutes (at a first appointment) with me. She didn't actually look at my skin at all (I was there for acne), and prescribed several harsh topical creams that wound up making my skin peel like crazy after just one use. And I still had zits. -- The office called two days before my second appointment to reschedule because Dr. Muldrow was going on vacation. The next time I could go in was over a month later. -- She told me that all of the makeup/cosmetics/lotions I was using were the "worst offenders" for causing acne, and said I should buy from their in-house makeup salesperson. I Googled it extensively later, and found not one piece of information to back up the claim that my products caused acne any more than anything else. I feel like she would have told me that no matter what brand I had said. -- The front desk staff had no idea what she had prescribed and/or suggested for me, so when I went to check out and buy a couple of the products, they tried to charge me for everything on the list, even though Dr. Muldrow and I had discussed leaving many of them off. -- I hate to include this, but she had horrible breath. At 8:15 in the morning. It was hard to focus when she was talking to me. I had an appointment scheduled for this Friday, but I won't be going back. Dr Muldrow is one of those people who could be 30 or 50. She has steely blue eyes and typical dermatologist preternaturally young delicate skin. She is professional, but I felt she was a teeny bit judgemental. Ok, so I love the sun(don't lay out anymore, I swear!) and had one basil benign skin cancer thingy a year ago and when I went for a follow-up, Dr Muldrow told me I had another one. Fair enough. And then she took a step back(while I'm standing there in my paper dress), drew a deep breath, paused...tick tick..., "I think it's time for preventative measures", she said. (PHEW so I'm not going to *die*). Then handed me this leaflet with a wrinkly George Hamilton look-alike on the cover and suggested that I have the procedure in the pamplet done. I gave her a quizzical look and she said, just read the pamplet. I haven't read about the procedure, I'm a little intimidated by George's twin brother. But couldn't help but feel a little (apologetic? intimidated?)judged. read more

Between my roommate and I, we had two extremely negative experiences. I was falsely diagnosed with a cold sore, that weeks later and a whole hell of a lot of anguish, was properly diagnosed as an infected pimple. My roommate, unfortunately, went in for a skin issue and was given medication that was completely unproductive and was charged a second time for a visit two days later when she went to get different medication. My roommate was particularly hurt by her lack of sensitivity and overall apathy during the appointment. The rest of the staff was perfectly nice, but at the end of the day, isn't the doctor supposed to make you feel better and not worse? read more

I did not have a good experience with Dr. Muldrow. She dismissed my questions, told me I needed "more confidence" when I was looking for dermatological help regarding my skin, and forgot to do my skin check when that was the reason for my appointment. When she did do my skin check, it felt very rushed and was completed in under 2 minutes - to search my entire body. She also prescribed me with medicine that was $200 that I previously told her didn't work for me. When I went to my new dermatologist, that new derm immediately knew that the prescription Dr. Muldrow prescribed me is not meant for my type of rosacea, and it won't help cure it. I don't feel that Dr. Muldrow put in enough time for me to help take care of my skin, so I switched doctors. read more

Worst experience imaginable. Went in for a consult about having broken capillaries removed from my nose, and they treated me using an outdated and ineffective method (electrocautery). Not only that, the doctor had a PA being TRAINED on the equipment perform the procedure (without asking for my consent), and now, instead of having the issue resolved, it is exponentially worse, causing me to have to seek treatment from a laser professional elsewhere. I strongly advise against visiting this doctor unless you want to leave with worse problems than when you arrived. If I could give 0 stars, I would. Do not go here. read more

I went to this office for help with acne and eczema. I was very frustrated and overwhelmed with my experience. I told them the medication I had been on for acne and that I did not want to continue with that medication. They prescribed it again (also it's not covered by my insurance and was going to cost $400). They also wanted me to take antibiotics for 2 months which I was not comfortable with for occasional acne. I also asked about exfoliating and over the counter products. They told me to just keep using what I was using and gave me conflicting information to my facial doctor. Read a few reviews and figured I'd submit my two cents... I've been seeing Migs for about 8 or 9 years now and with exception to generally agreeing with the comments that her actual time with me face-to-face is limited, she is otherwise a wonderful doctor and person. Dr. Muldrow has removed several moles from me and a few were found to be cancerous (so thankful she caught them). She's helped me on selection of SPF's for various trips I've gone on and despite the fact that her office has lots of options, she ALWAYS tells me "you can buy this here, or look for brand-whatever at wallgreens or some other store"... i.e., she's not pushing her product in my experiences like others have suggested. Also, I happen to know she donates heavily (both her time and her money) to areas of the world with malnutrition, lower education and/or medical supplies and the such. I have no idea how Migs' fees compare to other doctor options, but I'm happy to pay a little more (given some reviews say she's expensive) and know that some portion of that money is directed toward improving other areas of the world. Lastly (along the same lines of the volunteering), she doesn't brag about these acts or push for donations... it will only come up if it comes up through natural conversation which is exactly the way I prefer to handle such general acts of kindness or other fundraising/volunteering. read more

I went in for a mole scan. Without discussing what it could be or options, I was told one "had to come off" on my stomach. Again, nothing discussed and I had the mole removed (I wasn't sure what to do) and was told by her assistant to get dressed. I asked "will you call me with the results?" The assistant said "yes, but if you do not hear from us in a week, call us." Ok??? I let that go, even though I was very turned off that you just took a chunk of my skin and are sending it off for possible cancer, and you can't make a note to call me? I waited exactly one week. Nothing. Called and left a message. Nothing back. Called and left another message, no call back. Now it has been 3 days since I left my first message, and I call again. The front desk answers. I am polite and told them that I had left 2 messages with no return call. The receptionist only asked what my name was and what the message was about. No apology or excuse. I told them I was waiting on my biopsy and he put me on hold and then HE came back on and said "Oh, it was just a regular mole." I will never refer anyone or return to this office. That was my first mole check and first biopsy and I have never felt less cared about or disrespected by a doctor. Migs had no bedside manner at all, and gave no explanation for anything she was doing to me. Her assistant and front desk were no better. read more

Horrible service. I asked for an explanation of what was happening and was told nearly nothing. I was concerned about skin cancer because of my family history. She explained nothing about the surgery she was performing on my face and allowed zero time for questions or explanations. She just shoved an iPad in my face and asked for a signature. I asked for a full body scan and she only performed a procedure on the spot I was concerned about. When I came in to have my stitches removed they told me I would not be able to have the full body scan. The first time I came in I waited 45 minutes and the second time there was not even a place to sit to wait. I wish I had read these reviews sooner. Like others, I had a terrible experience with Dr. Muldrow. I made my initial appointment in November for a skin check on my face. Her PA asked me a few questions before the Dr. came into the room. She looked at me and said, "yeah, this is bad. Looks like skin cancer." I was almost in tears and tried to pull it together. She has ZERO bedside manner. She immediately prescribed Cetaphil and Fluorouracil. After taking that for two weeks my face turned bright right and broke out into rashes everywhere (apparently identifying potential skin cancer). I've never been so thankful to wear a mask. At my follow up she then prescribed Desonide to reduce the redness/rash and "fix" my face. After another week of irritation, she prescribed Prednisone to reduce the rash around my mouth. On my last visit in December, she said my face wasn't looking any better and asked how long I was doing the regime. I told her to look at my chart (aren't you the Dr?). She didn't have my chart. She then said to continue what I was doing for 3 more weeks and set up another appointment. There will be no more appointments. Each visit is $120 for less than 5 min. of her time, and I've had to call the receptionists and PAs after each visit because I felt so rushed and wanted to clarify the information that was quickly rattled off and never written down. After reading some of the reviews here I wasn't sure was to expect when I went for my annual full skin check with a new dermatologist. The staff and doctor were friendly and engaging, the wait time was not long, exam was thorough and my concerns were all addressed and follow up call was a week later as expected. I was pleasantly surprised and will be back next year. read more
