I am extremely disappointed with my experience at this practice and feel compelled to share my experience due to ongoing issues with professionalism, negligence, medical competency, and billing transparency. During my initial visit, I asked a provider for simple recommendations for non-aluminum deodorant, as I have a known aluminum sensitivity. Shockingly, the provider demonstrated little to no knowledge on the topic and actually recommended a higher-strength aluminum product, despite aluminum being the exact substance I explained I am allergic to. This lack of basic knowledge and patient listening was concerning and left me questioning the level of education and care at this practice. I was seen again at the practice for a simple cyst removal procedure. During the procedure, they did not provide me with enough numbing and I felt much more of the procedure than I should have, or would have liked. After the procedure, several of the stitches that were put in my arm came loose, despite me following directions not to lift anything heavy or strain it in any way. When I returned to have my stitches removed, Dr Cox was very condescending to me and made it seem like it was my fault that all the stitches came loose. At this procedure I brought two people with me (due to my history of fainting) and warned the doctor that I have a history of fainting. At the follow up visit after the stitch procedure, despite the previous warning of my history of fainting, I was left alone and unmonitored, was not warned that fainting was a possible risk, and I subsequently fainted while still in the exam room. As a result, I had significant facial lacerations and required additional stitches and medical treatment. That injury later became infected, requiring lab work and antibiotics. At the time, I was explicitly told that I would not be charged for the visit or the resulting care. Despite this, I am now being billed for these services. What is most frustrating is that I have been trying to contact the office manager regarding these charges for THREE MONTHS, with no response. I have called the office, billing department, left messages, and attempted to follow up multiple times by phone AND email without success. The complete lack of communication and accountability is unacceptable. Between the poor medical guidance, failure to monitor a patient after a procedure, and the ongoing billing and communication issues, I have lost all confidence in this practice. The lack of professionalism, negligence and follow-through has been deeply disappointing. I was seen by Johnathon Cox and Jane McAskill. I would strongly encourage anyone considering this practice to think carefully and advocate for themselves, especially when it comes to post-procedure care and billing clarity. read more

I don't know why I came here after the bad reviews I read. I saw the NP 2x for consultation and follow-up for approximatey 5-10 minutes each visit but they billed me a lot. I had to call them during my 1st visit to clarify why my bill was a lot eventhough I already paid my copay upront, And they said that it's suppose to go to my insurance instead of me. Should have read the reviews but thought they could look at what was going on with my skin and give me some help. No, had to have a biopsy that took forever to come back, and became infected. Maybe my fault, but needed three antibiotics to clear the infection that started three days after the biopsy. Didn't smell or remember that odor that meant they used proper prep techniques like an astringent. Follow up people had no idea why they were calling me, I had to correct them and explain what happened. Biopsy results were non-conclusive with no recommendations as to how to handle the skin issue. read more

I was really hoping to give this dermatologist a good rating. I had Dr. Robinson use the V beam several years ago with pretty good results. I then went back in July of this year for the same. Requested same settings, took time off of work to recover from bruising. Had no bruising and no results at all. Called the office repeatedly after getting records showing settings were so much less which explained why I had no results. Finally received a call back months later offering a free session. Fast forward to November 5th and I was rushed in without numbing, Dr Robinson didn't ask where I needed the laser, proceeded to blow up veins I didn't know I needed all over my face in a bizarre repetitive fashion extending from near my ears all over....sadly missed pretty much every vein I needed eradicating on my nasal folds and chin. I looked ridiculous for weeks without achieving any results...she didn't give me a mirror just said we are done. I asked her if she got the veins on my nose and she said yes. I WOULD NOT LET THIS DOCTOR TOUCH ME FOR FREE! HORRIBLE....SHE HAS A LASER TECH IN THE ROOM WHICH PROBABLY MEANS SHE HAS NO CLUE ! This office was unresponsive for months . I saw Dr Robinson for 2 concerning spots on my face, and she quickly and competently put to rest my fears that they could be cancerous. She educated me about these areas (even sent me home with a pamphlet), and also about which types of skin cancer to watch out for. In addition, the front office staff was prompt and courteous; I was in and out and back to work in 30 minutes. I was referred to Sorkin via my Momma, and Momma knows best. She has been going to Dr. Meg Lemon there for years, and recommended that I do the same. I have a rare condition called over-cuteitis, which makes me way too cute, approachable, and snugly - like that fuzzy fabric softener bear in the commercials. So, periodically I visit the good folks over at Sorkin to have them make sure that the cutest of the spots don't become malignant - or Macaulay Culkininisms in medical jargon. The waiting list is months to see Dr. Lemon, so I elected to see her colleague, Dr. Stephanie Frankel, who is terrific. They are fast, professional, and all joking aside, I highly recommend this group of doctors and staff. read more

I had a great experience my first visit. The receptionist were fantastic and so friendly. Mentioned they were from a different location. Overall I had a good visit. The visit with the doctor itself was very quick and didn't have a lot of questions answered. Decided to return because the prior visit did not seem to be completely done or the results needed - wanted to ask more questions. I called wondering if I could get in before the end of the year to have the spots looked at again and maybe a second opinion. The first available was January 2nd. I asked if there was a call or waitlist for cancelled appointments so I could get my 2023 plan used. The receptionist told me they "don't do that" and I need to call everyday. Then paused to say there was a 3:30pm with a different doctor available. Inquired to make sure that doctor fell under my plan since they have my medical card already on file. The assistant proceeded to tell me I should call my insurance to confirm. Any office I've worked with has been able to confirm in-network right away with my medical card on file. The entire conversation had a tone of annoyance. Making myself very uncomfortable, feeling like a burden. I verified the office address and time, wrote into my calander, which seemed to annoy the receptionist even more. That I was expected to know this. I was a burden trying to confirm properly. Upon arrival, I was told I'm extremely late and the receptionist proceeded to degrade me, telling me it was her on the phone and she was the one on the phone and knew the conversation. That she confirmed three times what time I should have been there at 3.. I tried my best to remain calm but felt extremely mistreated for a mistake or miscommunication.. Mentioning this is poor communication. Additionally I never received a follow up email after the scheduling to confirm the time - even though it was short notice booking day of. I did my due diligence to write the address and time down. I was actually in the parking lot at 2:50 and figured I should wait before going in. A curtiousy call would have been nice but I understand that isn't always possible. Could have been in there within minutes. Overall, feel extremely degraded, uncomfortable and I walked out crying due to this interaction. There was a lot of hostility and blame rather than trying to make the situation right. I'm not expecting them to fit me in but at least meet half way for the situation rather than rudely gaslighting a patient. I came for a service provided by this clinic and was treated improperly, unfair and unprofessionally - even if a mistake was made. read more

Dr. Callahan and MA Madison were incredible. They kept my mind off the procedure by engaging me in thoughtful conversation. They kept me informed every step of the way. Their COVID precautions made me feel comfortable. Great bedside manner. But most importantly, what two weeks ago looked like a Frankenstein incision, is barely visible today!!!!!!! I have a family history of psoriasis and was beginning to think I would just have to live with it the way my father does, plaques all over his body. I had been prescribed ointments and my dad had been prescribed methotrexate to no avail. On the advice of my PCP who said Meg Lemon is "THE" expert on psoriasis, I visited Colorado Dermatology Specialists one year ago to see if there was a more modern and effective treatment that I had been missing. Dr Lemon assured me there was and stunningly a few days after I began treatment all symptoms disappeared. I literally watched the plaques disappear over the course of the weekend. I was close to giving up on the beach and pool but hope people suffering from psoriasis seek out professionals like Dr Lemon who understand the modern treatments and get patients on the right track from day one. read more

I scheduled a skin check appt with Alison, the Nurse Practitioner, immediately followed by an appt with her as well, for a chemical VI Peel. I do want to say that I love how they schedule appts for each "visit" even if it is a back to back appt. For example the skin check was its own appt, and the peel was its own. Because of that system of scheduling, I didn't feel like the skin check was at all rushed, in order to fit in a peel. Alison was incredibly thorough, and addressed my skin concerns. Making sure any questions were answered. The VI peel was the first chemical peel I had ever done, and she was again thorough in answering any questions, making sure I was comfortable through the process. She explained the benefits of the peel, which peel would be best suited for my skin/skin goals, and what to expect over the next week. I would highly recommend Alison to anyone needing just a general dermatology appt, as well as a cosmetic appt. She was caring, knowledgeable, efficient, and pleasant to engage with. read more

Only because I can't give them a 0. The worst experience ! They told me that my appointment was all settled. (One text and two emails) The receptionist even called a day before making sure my insurance was right. I arrived earlier than the 20 min for my first appointment. (Because they said to be 20 mins early) my Medicaid insurance got denied when the receptionist asked for my insurance information. I came in for a SKIN CANCER SCREENING!! she said that only some of the offices take Medicaid and that's not one of them? So how am I suppose to know if they are on the Medicaid website? Who is suppose to know they have to call every office to see if they accept Medicaid? So selfish they don't take someone who is coming in for a cancer screening. They are what's wrong with the medical field! Only caring about money and not actually the well being of people they take care of. Not to mention the way the receptionist said it out loud in the waiting room and everyone stared at me. I felt so uncomfortable when all I came in for was a peace of mind. I've been seeing Ben for skin checkups for 7 or 8 years. He is considerate and thorough, and takes time to answer all my questions very carefully. All the staff treat me like a real person, looking me in the eyes when they talk to me and taking the time to get things right. They are always on time, and messages are answered quickly. I've been going to CO Dermatology for years. Dr Lemon has gone above and beyond for the care she gives. She's super thorough for my annual exams, and even came in for an hour the week before my wedding for some extra Botox! I wouldn't go anywhere else in Denver for dermatology. She did an extensive background check on family history, as skin issues and cancers run in my family. I really appreciate all the work they do over there! read more

I went there for yearly checkup and they were going to bill my insurance. They billed my insurance and sent biopsies to a lab that was out of network so the insurance didnt cover it. They then billed me for what was done in the office and then mentioned that there were charges ins non-allowed. I called the office and asked biling about sending lab work out network and was told that I would need to talk to the office manager. I called twice and asked for the office manager about this and was told to leave a message and would be called back but never received a call back. So today almost threee month later I get a new bill with a bunch of additional charges on it. This is no way to do business and find it very unprofessional. As an accountant, if I did that to my clients they would revolt and not pay it. Don't go to this ripoff company who doesn't know how to do business. read more

As with every derm office in Denver, it took months (3 to be exact) to get an appointment. Dr. Lemon came very highly recommended, but I would have to wait six months to see her... I saw Dr. Howe, who's a bit of a newbie, but very personable and incredibly knowledgeable. I would say that if you have a derm emergency, don't count on the front office being sympathetic at all, and you probably would have better luck going to another state if you want a quick appointment. I find their front office staff rather surly and unhelpful on the phone. I had a cyst on my face that needed a shot - takes 5 minutes max - and they couldn't fit me in for a week, and even though it was my anniversary weekend, they couldn't have been less helpful or sympathetic. Being from NYC and SF I find it actually quite ridiculous that in Colorado it takes months and months to get an appointment, and if you have a need to get in right away, you are pretty much up the creek. My dermatologist in SF is Dr. Kathy Fields of Proactiv fame, and she always (and I mean always) will do her best to fit you in, or have her see one of her office colleagues, if an emergency, and although her office is always packed - it doesn't take six months to get in to see her... a few weeks at most. read more

A Dermatologist at my age?! Yeah, and I hate to admit it, adult acne is not fun! But, any time you have acne, it's not fun, rather embarrasing, trust me, I know. I have been going to the Colorado Dermatology Specialists on and off for a few years now. I'm back again, and what my doctor has prescribed for me, is definitely working. Thank goodness! My doctor listens to me, and advises me on what she would like me to do. I follow her suggestions, ask questions, and we go from there. I go for follow-up checkups every couple of months, to make sure I'm on track, which I am. The entire staff here is friendly, helpful, and definitely know how to work with all of the insurance companies out there, which is good. They have several locations, which helps too. The doctors here handle all types of skin conditions, which is nice to know. Parking is easy, with a large free parking lot. Their office is clean, bright, and welcoming as well. I visited Colorado Dermatology specialist for the first time last week and it was a great experience! The office is very modern, and up to date. The staff was friendly. I had never had a skin exam before, and I felt very comfortable. Dr. Robinson addressed all of my questions/ concerns. Nothing felt rushed, and she was very thorough with explaining what she was doing and what she was looking at, while educating me on what to look out for at home. I do like that CDS does make some of their own products, since insurance does not cover many behind the counter products. The product I got was a huge cost saver! read more

I see Meg Lemon, but have heard all the doctors are good in this practice. My needs are pretty basic, an annual full body check of my moles. Melanoma runs in my family so I really wanted to go to someone who is adept at finding trouble spots early. My neighbor's father was a pathologist and as able to see which doctors found things early and recommended Meg Lemon to his daughter, who kindly referred me. I have been seeing her for a couple of years now and could not be happier. Tip: It takes a while to get in, so make an appointment roughly three months in advance of when you need/want to be seen. read more

The reception staff is unnecessarily rude and nasty towards the clients. I called my dermatologist back one day after I missed her call, only to be told "She's with a patient, do you want me to interrupt her visit so she could talk to you"? . Who responds like that? I wasn't being rude or demanding.They act as if they're being held against their will, or doing you a huge favor by doing what they're obviously paid to do. There's a reason many of the reviews center around the attitude of the reception staff. read more

Great first visit. My only other experience with a Dermatoligist was scary. She came at me with a scalpel and said, "Don't worry, this won't hurt". So when I was in need of a professional to diagnose a skin condition I made some calls. Not only were the receptionists very helpful and informative on the phone, but they offered fair prices for my uninsured visit. It did take a month for me to be able to schedule the appointment, but Dr. Howe was very knowledgeable, gave me a lot of information, and helped me make the right choice for my budget and personal preferences. I'm very happy with my first visit and would certainly recommend them! read more

I saw Dr. Dajani this morning. Was seen about 5 minutes before my appointment time. Nurse took thorough notes and asked me everything I wanted addressed during the visit. Dr. Dajani came in very shortly after, no waiting. She was patient and wanted to address each thing I had come in for. She had quick answers and solutions for each, both on the spot and for me to administer myself once I left the office. She did a head-to-toe check and slowly examined me, explaining each thing she noticed and whether it warranted further attention or not. She asked how long each little thing had been present, what it was called and what it meant, for my benefit. When administering some cortizone shots in a few places, she was constantly asking if I was comfortable or if the pain of the shot was too much. She also asked if I was ok with shots before doing anything. The nurse was also good about making sure I was numb in the area to be biopsied before doing anything. Very professional, efficient, and caring. read more

I was a patient for nearly two years to treat a severe case of HS. I was informed by my doctor that in cases of severe symptom flare up, I could call in and schedule a walk-in appointment for Hydrocortisone shot. This past Friday I needed just that and called right when the office opened at 8am. The after hours message was still on and remained on until past 8:30 so I decided to come in and ask for a walk up shot in person. I arrived, clearly in pain and started to explain the situation. Before I could finish my sentence I was interrupted by the front desk staffer who was defensive, stating that "she didn't get a call" and "the phones were on at 8" and "we don't take walk ups". To add further insult, she completely disregarded my obvious pain and instead of asking for my name to pull up my account, rudely asked if "If I was even a patient there". I remained patient and tried to explain the doctors orders I was given a second time. Finally the woman reluctantly said she would ask the Doctor if they could fit me in. After less than a minute, she came back and said they couldn't see me until two weeks from now. It was apparent that the woman did not try to explain the situation to whomever she talked to, if she even checked with someone in that thirty second window. Also it is worth noting I was the only person in the waiting room and it was not busy at all - I was the first patient there. This is when I lost my temper, said "you know what this is bullshit, forget it." and l left. I then called the other location to see if they could see me same day and spoke to someone who stated that they would call me back with an appointment time for later in the afternoon. I was instead called back by practice manager Tish who left me a voicemail, kicking me out of the practice for cursing during the earlier interaction. That night I had to perform surgery on myself (near my groin) with an exacto knife because I couldn't get that shot that I so desperately begged for. It was terrible. I feel so upset because of how I was treated when asking for help that my doctor said I could get in a time of need, and instead was treated like a criminal. Tish dismissed me from the practice without even an opportunity to explain my side, on voicemail. How impersonal and unkind to someone who has been with the practice for quite a while. To the readers of this: If you have a serious disease and don't want to be put down and treated like scum in your most vulnerable state, then I recommend you find another practice. Additionally, before I was kicked out of the practice, I was put on a radical drug for my disease that I was supposed to have a follow up appointment to make sure it's going okay. This practice gets extra unprofessional points for ditching me during such a sensitive time in my treatment. What the heck do I do now, is all I keep thinking... How do I find another doctor who can pick up my treatment right where it left off since it's a less common approach? My plea to CDM in the hopes you don't keep neglecting and abusing patients, is to hire a front line staff that actually want to work in human services and not just get a paycheck. Both the managers and the desk staff should be ashamed of the rude and uncaring attitudes I was unfortunate enough to encounter. read more

Coming here for 3 weeks has made me healthier, happier and no longer depressed. Everyone here worked with me to figure out what was wrong with me. Trying to understand some of the other reviews on here, but my recent experience with the staff at this practice was nothing but timely, professional and considerate. I called a little over a week ago as a new patient, thinking I would be booking for three months from now based on these other reviews, but they had openings for me that week and the next. I had an appt with Dr Serota to evaluate an old wart on my pinky finger and for a skin check. The reception staff were efficient and polite, and Dr Serota was friendly, knowledgeable and made me feel assured that my fair and freckled skin was in okay shape. He also helped me make a plan that would help minimize the number of follow up visits I would need to get rid of this stubborn wart. I'll look forward to my next visit! read more

I saw Dr. Marc Serota about two months ago and it was a success. I made an appointment for as soon as possible and they got me in two days after I called. I was able to walk there, the building is a little confusing but that may be just me. The receptionists were friendly and competent. The waiting was about 15 min, and I had to pay the co-pay up front, but no biggie. I was diagnosed and prescribed an ointment within 15 minutes, which is fine with me. I am sure he would've taken more time if I had more questions. The frustrating thing, which seems to be prevalent regardless of the doctor (other places are similar), is that I had to order it for mail delivery and couldn't just go to the pharmacy. I had to work with the receptionists again, and again they were great. Are they called receptionists? They likely do medical billing and other things too. In the end, I am all healed up and it was a good experience. Other patients seemed to be happy there as well. I may be returning and definitely recommend this place. read more

I got a referral from my United Healthcare Primary Care Physician to come to Colorado Dermatology Specialists. Saw Dr. Marc Serota for removal of a small growth. Everything went fine. He asked if I wanted to do a biopsy and I said yes- problem is, they sent the biopsy to a lab which is not in United Healthcare's network. So now insurance will cover none of it and I'm out $435.00! I communicated with Jessica Glass in the billing department, but she just blew me off in the end. Ridiculous. read more

I have been visiting this office for about 3 years. I began seeing Dr Frankel and she has always been pleasant, friendly and willing to help me fix any and all problems that I may have. I do wish that she was able to offer a little more time in the exam room though. I sometimes feel a little rushed. I have recently seen Dr. Friednash. She is very personable, easy to talk to and is always willing to answer any and all questions that I have for her and offers excellent care. Most recently, I went in for a small procedure and the new nurse's assistant Mika was incredibly friendly! I was so glad to have a personable and knowledgeable staff member checking me in. She was so attentive and kind throughout my entire visit. I feel like her great care should not go unnoticed and is greatly appreciated. Colorado Dermatology Specialists was a great find. I have had psoriasis for many years and have had mixed care from other dermatologists. Dr. Robinson has been amazing. She gave me great recommendations and spent the time to really educate me on the different treatment options. The practice was easy to work with, the doctors are very accessible, and I also really like the MAs. During the recent Stay At Home order, I didn't have to miss my appointment, I was able to schedule to see Dr. Robinson and have my regular psoriasis check-up via Zoom! They made it extremely easy and I was so happy that I didn't have to put myself at risk for my appointment. I would highly recommend this practice. read more

I visited the doctor to remove sun damage on my face. The scheduling was easy and the staff was very friendly. After numbing me up she used IPL laser to gently zap each spot. They were red but the doctor assured me that the brown spots would fade after a week. And in about that time they were GONE. read more

I had an appointment with a nurse practitioner and I felt as though the entire situation was handled extremely unprofessionally. She spent the majority of the appointment trying to "sell" me on Accutane, even though I stated several times, before the consultation and during, that I was not interested in that medication. The lengthy hard-sell for the Accutane ran out the clock and left no time for a skin cancer check, which was the main reason I booked the appointment. The office staff is rude and disorganized. I want to start this by saying I never leave bad reviews. I prefer to reward good experiences and move on from the bad. But I've had such a terrible experience with the business management of this office - and so little response from them in my attempts to get answers - that here I am. I had a perfectly good new patient visit with Dr. Elizabeth Robinson several months ago. But since then, I have been unable to get anyone from the billing or office team to sufficiently respond to me about trying to follow up on a pre-authorization request for a procedure Dr. Robinson recommended. There is a huge amount of confusion about whether my insurance provider covers the office. (At the time I went for my office visit, it did. But now it seems it doesn't anymore, so there's been a total lack of clarity about my billing and pre-authorization request. Somehow this is related to the fact that they've changed over to being a branch of Advanced Dermatology, but it's hard to tell what the details are.) I have called the office a dozen times without getting through to a person, and I've never received a callback, despite leaving a clear voicemail asking for one every time. I have emailed multiple times through the patient portal, and maybe 1 out of every 4 gets responded to, usually just with a promise that "someone will reach out," but then no one does. I've never experienced quite this level of being ignored by a professional office. (And while I know that billing reminder emails are likely run out of a totally separate corporate office, there's still irony in the fact that the only communication I get from them like clockwork are email reminders of my balance due.) Obviously, at this point, I personally won't be going back to this practice, but since I can't even get through to anyone at their office, writing a terrible review seems like the only way to even let the doctors know how badly they're being let down by their staff. I'm generally a pretty laidback person when it comes to this kind of thing. I try to give a lot of chances to people and businesses, knowing how things can fall through the cracks. But this has gone way past acceptable. read more

After they accidentally send you to a collections (and accidentally serve your in-laws even though that is not the address on file and they can't explain why they served a house you've never lived in) attorney and that attorney accidentally serves you again 6 months later then calls you after another 2 months to yell at you for wanting legal proof he no longer has your information and has cancelled the accidental court hearing....if you want all that, this place is perfect!
