Park Avenue view of Caramel Bakery & Bar

This bakery is so nice! When you first walk in, it seems like it's small but it actually is a good size space as it extends toward two back rooms. The bakery shelf and bar are prominent when you walk in. It held a nice array of cakes, cannolis, eclairs, filled croissants, French macaroons, Truffle Cake cups, Homemade pop tarts and, the biggest cinnamon danish I have ever seen. My niece had the Red Velvet cake chocolate truffle in a cup and I had the caramel bourbon cake. We sat in the large open floor plan seating area with our chai latte and fresh coffee. Further back in the room were more tables and a couch. It is definitely worth a stop in!

Caramel's newly expanded location is the elegant and decadent dessert bar we have been longing for on Park Ave for YEARS!! From the soothing colors painted on the walls, the fun shelf of cake samples, live music on occasion, artwork, and comfortable, stylish seating, this is the kind of place I could sit with my cake and cocktail for hours. The front area when you first walk in has window seating for 4-6, a refrigerated display showing off some of the desserts available (such as cake slices, macarons and single-serving tarts), and a bar area. As you move through, the space opens up to a large sitting room with table service. The back room can also be divided into two rooms and can be rented out for events. On our most recent visit we ordered special desserts and boozy hot cocoa drinks from the menu. The desserts were prepared fresh in the kitchen and served to us, and they were fancy and delicious! We had their "Winter Alaska" and "Lost in the Mo-Mint". --The "Winter Alaska" was the most special dessert I've had in a really long time - white chocolate, gluten-free flourless cake with cherry ice cream, topped with cherry orange curd and covered in toasted meringue - so big it was easily shared between 4 people. --The "Lost in the Mo-Mint" was in a parfait glass and included chocolate cake, chocolate mousse, chocolate ganache, mint ice cream, smashed oreos and a giant toasted hand made marshmallow. Absolute decadence, and again, a huge portion meant for sharing. As for the hot cocoas, they were also rich and delicious, and we were able to choose what alcohol we wanted - we chose kahlua, which was maybe a touch too sweet paired with the desserts, but enjoyable nonetheless. The only negatives I'll add are that the entrance area can be congested, and on the night we were there (a cold, damp winter night) many people were waiting outside because the place was packed; the other thing is that when the bar is full, it's pretty loud inside, even in the back. Still, a really lovely spot and highly recommended. Especially while that "Winter Alaska" is still on the menu!

If only the desserts here tasted as good as they look. The place is bigger than expected. It's kinda deceiving from outside. I tried multiple cakes and eclairs here. Just pop in whenever I am in park ave hoping that it would be better this time. But, it just doesn't taste good. Not fresh. Cakes are not moist. I'm done with this one.

Went here with friends last weekend and this place is so fun. I love the variety or drinks and sweets. As someone that doesn't eat sweets often, the Nutella cheesecake met my heart; so delicious. 10/10 recommend for a date night or just hanging with friends.

I've loved this spot since they first opened! They're now expanded. It was really busy when we went in and we were sitting up front in the window seats which wasn't the most intimate spot to have a conversation. Super cute and cozy though. Nice variety of treats in the bakery case. We split the creme brulee which was delicious!! Sadly, their espresso is AWFUL. Third time trying it, figured maybe it wasn't a good night the past two times but not the spot for a coffee drink whatsoever which is too bad. They didn't offer cream, sugar, etc.

Homemade pop tarts... Much better than what you remember from Saturday morning as a kid... Or from the vending machine at work.

Awesome little Park Ave spot for post Amerks game or to end a date night with my lovely wife. We have visited several times and love the urban coffee shop vibe and the friendly staff. The deserts are a little hit and miss (10% miss cuz their carrot cake was mid) and, if you get there late, some items may be gone. I can say that the homemade pop tarts are a cool offering and very tasty. Our granddaughter loves the macarons. Nice to have both coffee and alcoholic beverage options as well. Totally recommend having dinner at one of the many surrounding restaurants and then dropping in here for desert... Or even get a foot massage across the street followed by Caramel... Definitely a date night hit... Trust me

The cookies are a must!!! My partner tried out the macarons and said they were quite yummy as well. This is the perfect spot to go to after you've had dinner and you're in the mood for some drinks and delicious dessert!!

Checked out Caramel Bakery and Bar for after dinner drinks. We had dessert after dinner, so unfortunately did not try any of the yummy looking treats. The espresso martini was wonderful! My friend got homemade pop tarts to go and said they were very good.

What a cute lovely place ! From the outside I would have not guessed how far back it goes ! I loved the variety of deserts ! I ended up taking home a pop tart, creamsicle cheesecake and caramel eclair. The charcuterie board was loaded with goodies and such a reasonable price. The staff was friendly and warm. I wish I was friends with all of them ! They are lovely! The only improvement would be larger tables . The tables are tiny ! As well as a bigger variety other than paninis for food . But I will 100% come back for a round 2 !

Nice place in a busy section of the town. Came in for coffee, lured by the desserts on display. While not a huge selection, they all looked very tasty. I bought some canolis and a pop tart. The sweet stuff tasted better than the coffee, love the decorations inside, parking was a bit of a struggle.

The absolute best. The thing I miss most now that I don't live in Rochester. The employees are so kind and friendly. The food is incredible and reasonably priced. Their brunch is a must. I love that they have outdoor seating and in the winter it has a cozy vibe. I can't wait to visit next time I'm in town.

Desserts and drinks, do I have to say anything else?? I ordered one of the vegan options they had. They do have vegan options, just ask!! But I tried bits of what my friends ordered and everything was awesome! I love that they list some of their desserts and give drinks suggestions that pair nicely with it. I also loved our waiter.. he was just upbeat and friendly! I didn't go inside, they made it very easy to sit outside and order. I can't wait to go back and try more. I don't have one bad thing to say about my experience.

Perfect place for an after dinner date night. Located on Park Ave with street parking which is always a pain. Cozy place with the dessert display twinkling at you soon as you walk in. They have a few dessert options and some are paired with drinks including alcoholic beverages. During pre-Covid days, they had a shelf of board games for your entertainment. That has been taken down now. We stopped in after dinner at another restaurant and got a few things to try. Generous serving sizes. I got the napolean pastry because I love pastry puff type desserts. It was light but the pastry wasn't as fluffy/flaky as I was expecting. Then again it was not a hot dessert so that could affect the texture that I am used to. The hot chocolate was in a big mug and unfortunately nothing special. My favorite were the macarons which were double trouble, in size and in price. There were only apple, PB&J, and caramel left and PBJ was surprisingly good. We also had the black forest cake paired with the mule. Pairing was perfect, but cake was too sweet for my liking, but perfect for what the hubs was craving. Great place for an intimate place to treat your sweetie to sweets.

If you aren't a Tiki connoisseur you should still check it out for their unique take at South Asian and East Asian cuisine. The drinks are stellar. Very refreshing and smooth. Gotta remind yourself to go easy on them or you might find yourself very drunk very soon. The food is good. I wish some of the dishes came with the option to have a side of rice instead of ordering it separately. The mood, aesthetic and vibes hit you right including the decor and lighting. Take a moment to look around and above you to appreciate the art and craft mounted on the walls. Even the wallpapers contribute to the Tiki vibe. It's well done. Sean took care of us the whole time we were there. He is so warm, welcoming, patient and ready to give you suggestions from the menu based on what you need. Importantly Sean is attentive and makes sure your specific needs are taken care of. As for Drinks, Mai Tai- 4/5 It was a pretty well balanced Mai Tai. It is a strong smooth drink. Sherrykiller- 4/5 I liked the balance of flavors and how the sours managed to hold their own in this drink. Boomslang Fang- 4.5/5 Another smooth yummy drink. The flavors complement each other. Boozy Shipless- 4/5 Well presented. Tropical flavors through and through which I loved. I was not a fan of the garnish on top at first but it grew on me eventually. Now the food, We started with Sesame Garlic Brussels sprouts. 4/5 for that dish. Beautiful flavor. Well roasted sprouts. Coconut Sticky Rice- 5/5 Perfect rice. Well made. Well presented. The salty and the sweet flavors have wonderful chemistry. The rice was the right amount of fluffy and soft. Mandarin Tea Chicken- 4/5 Very yummy. Chicken was wonderful. I wish it came with rice and had more lean white meat as it seemed that it had more fatty dark meat. Jaffna Shrimp Curry- 4/5 Wonderful dish. The shrimp was well made. Perfectly cooked. The lentils could be more softer. The sauce was beautiful and combined all aspects of this dish perfectly. I'm not sure what leaves they used for garnish. I hoped to see curry leaves in there given the South Asian roots of this dish but alas they weren't there. Nonetheless it was a wonderful meal.

Our table got free shots because one member of the party was celebrating her birthday at Easy Sailor (she also received leis around her neck). Cons: Expensive. Small portions. Food is OK, but not worth the cost. Drinks are VERY expensive. The vegan appetizers are coconut sticky rice, sesame garlic vegetables, and kung pao cucumbers. There is one vegan entrée: Spamfu fried rice. The coconut sticky rice was decent, but not filling. And it's hard to eat it without making a big mess, because they foolishly serve it to you in a small, overstuffed dish with no plate under it. So when you dig into the ball of rice with your fork, you end up dislodging bits of it all over the table. They really need to figure out a better way to serve it. The sesame garlic vegetables were quite good (better than the rice), but also not filling. My wife had the Spamfu, which was a surprisingly small portion given that it's billed as an entrée. The vegan bits of "Spam" were cubes of marinated tofu, and there wasn't much of it. Given that tofu and rice are both cheap, the cost of that dish was pretty outrageous. And speaking of outrageous costs, the fancy drinks were priced astronomically high. The menu is written in a small font and is hard to read, especially given the dim lighting in the restaurant. I had to use my iPhone to take pictures of it, so I could magnify the photos on my screen. The water carafes are impractical. They have very long, thin necks, which means you can't put ice in them -- and they tend to block your view of other people sitting at the table. They don't hold much water, so you have to keep asking the server to refill them. And the water glasses are too small. The restaurant really needs to get bigger (but squatter) carafes that hold ice, and they need better water glasses. If you're not especially hungry and money is no object, then maybe Easy Sailor is right for you. Otherwise, I'd skip it.

This is the best for folks who like to bring their pups everywhere and I wish I had known sooner. I also heard they have a rockin' weeknight karaoke, and I know my partner and I will be hitting that up at some point in the near future. This is your standard Monroe Ave dive (not the diviest there is but divey nevertheless) and it fits in great with the rest of the Monroe scene. Turcotts Taproom got more than a face lift from the days it was Lola's. It got a soul transplant…read more Or maybe a soul merge. Lola's had a great run, and the well known corner real estate on Monroe Ave ( a major conduit to downtown Rochester) has had several past lives. Today's reincarnation is that of Turcotts. Turcotts belong to the same family of tap houses as Oxfords, Magpie's, Murphy's law, and Brass (check out the Yelp reviews). Bye bye to craft martinis and burlesque nights with the scantily dressed and goth-ish lady staff. Enter stage left: mixologists with that gritty-Monroe Ave-Dude! Where have you been my whole life-being. Instant liquid compadre and confidant. Maybe because of the heavy pours, but I'm sticking to my stance of good people good drinks. Prove me wrong. And now a brief history... This multigenerational-"family"-owned network of bars lost a dear and close "family" member when the longtime manager of Oxford's passed away. As an homage to this veteran bar manager the owners approached his family and asked if they could honor the fallen by renaming Lola's after him....or more exactly his family name: Turncott! Hence, Turcotts. Cheers to this! The physical layout of this watering hole has always been a challenge. Not only for the staff but for the patrons as well. It's narrow and doesn't accommodate groups greater than two. So if you're on date night or rocking lower Monroe Ave solo; then be sure give Turcotts some play. The makeover this establishment received is a huge upgrade. Goodbye great dive bar and hello jump off spot. Generous accents of red leather trim with matte black wood trip gives the place a good attempt at being not divvy- almost reminiscent of the British turncoats!...A good checkpoint on any Monroe Ave adventure. The drinks at Turncotts are definitely on par with the neighborhood. Depending on your relationship with the mixologist behind the bar, you're gonna have that off menu specialty or you're ordering one of the staples on the cocktail menu. You'll get a good drink with any choice. Don't look for the craft beverage on tap, as they offer little that's not bottled. Bottom line: tip your bartender and enjoy life. You're either gonna kick off at Turncotts or splashdown here. That's what makes the patron mix oh so good. If you hit the magic hours between 10 and midnight, you'll definitely have a story to tell at the water cooler. Overall: great homage to a fallen friend. Decent atmosphere with decent drinks. Either we start here or end here... Either way: Tip your bartender and party on Wayne.

Bar was practically empty. She had no reason to be acting like that and that was probably the rudest bartender experience I've ever had.
