This company has an excellent workforce, but you need to be careful of their billing department. Get all quotes in advance and then check the bill when you get it. They have a tendency of overbilling, billing for things without notice and assuming that things were done that were not. In the first instance, I was told the cost for a repair where I told them in advance what the problem was. The technician came and took the furnace apart ordered the part and I was given an invoice that I paid. On my credit card there appeared a second charge for an amount that I was told was an initial deposit to order the part. Then on my next credit card bill I received a bill for the entire amount and was then told the initial pmt. was for the service call. As I was pleased with the initial service and had not received the credit card bills, I had the company out to perform a duct cleaning. When the technician came, I assisted in getting the equipment in and out of the truck as he was alone, and the equipment was heavy. He did a great job and as the system is simple, it is a modular home from the early 80's with no return air ducts to clean, the tech was there for only 2 hours. Then the bill came for $1,388.68 which is supposed to include "Removing/ Washing/ Re-Installing Registers, Grilles & Diffusers. Cutting/ Installing Access Panels. Air Sweep Blower, Video Camera Inspection". There was one cut for access in one duct, no registers were cleaned as we keep them clean, and most were new. I was told that they did a video inspection, but it was not given to me, nor did I see a camera. In explanation, I was told that is their std charge for 6-8 runs and return air ducts to be cleaned, but we only have 3 runs (and one is short connecting the 2 that run the length of the house and there are no return airs. The assumption for the billing was made by their billing dept. with no knowledge of my system. They did adjust both bills, but I had to call and was then told not to call them again. I assume they thought the billing errors were my fault. read more

Hands down the best HVAC (and other services) company in the Carbon Valley/Longmont/Ft. Lupton/Boulder area. I just had my water heater replaced. The field techs were COVID safe, friendly, very professional, and Customer Service Personified!!!! And they left my utility room cleaner than when they arrived !!!! If there was a zero star rating, these dishonest thieves would get it. If you want to get ripped off for 200$ or more, then these are your guys. First I was given a four hour window with a gas leak, that he showed up 30 minutes late for. My salesperson/technician was told exactly what the issue was after Blackhills Energy assessed the situation and I called to let them know the part that needed to be replaced. After trying to upsell me a whole new furnace system and replacing the part, he then proceeded to overcharge me for said part. And then when I called them out on the actual price with proof, they basically told me that there's nothing I can do about it and some nonsense about a warranty. A 200$ warranty on a 40$ part. Makes sense right? And I only received an invoice nine days after service because I called the office. Otherwise I would have no record of the transaction other than my credit card statement. Then, it was multiple calls over several days with the response of 'We'll get back to you.' I will be contacting the Better Business Bureau as well because of their fraudulent and frankly criminal theft. I would strongly advise ever using this company. Edit: Response. I was told earlier today on the phone, rudely I might add, that the owner was unavailable indefinitely, and yet she responded to this review in less than an hour. Interesting. She made no attempt to contact me and as you can see in her response did not address the issue of overcharging me. read more

I would not recommend this company! We have had problems with our HVAC unit not working properly for a week, and the service technician didn't really know what the problem was. He wasn't very thorough and didn't seem to be very knowledgeable overall. He 'cleaned out' the unit" for an extra fee ''took pictures before and after" (which I question) and it worked for a couple of days. It quit working again. So I called a different HVAC company in Brighton and they knew what the was problem immediately. I feel taken advantage of, honestly. I never received the 'pictures of our dirty HVAC unit' and feel like I paid for something that was not really necessary after all. I just wanted the AC to work properly and trust that I'm getting honest advice. read more

I hired Carbon Valley to install a new furnace in my house. Their price was competitive with the other 4 quotes I got and they had the new furnace installed the next day. Later on when i turned it on i realized they had installed it backwards and the supply and returns were all reversed. They were out the next day had the whole thing removed and reinstalled correctly in about 6 hours. I think this is a good company because they are fast to respond to issues and fix their mistakes. All contractors make mistakes and the good ones are the ones who fix them with minimal headaches to the customer. read more

Service was excellent. Invoicing needs to break down actual price of replacement part. I should not see a price difference of $300 between what the part can be purchased for online and what it was sold to me for. If the price sold to me includes the cost of replacing the part, then the labor should be itemized separately. If the price of replacement was $300 + the initial diagnostic price of $85, then I paid nearly $400 to have the part replaced. I'll shop for a more transparent company in the future. read more

Don't bother unless you want to waste an afternoon. They'll give you a window of time for the initial, but not call on the day to reassure and confirm. If they call, they won't leave a message. If you are a room away, maybe the door open and somehow don't hear their arrival, they won't call to say, "I'm here." I was waiting, had my cell phone by me, waited 3.5 frustrating hours. Must have tried my doorbell that doesn't work. Knock, call, try harder! An unlikely response that technician tried and no one answered the door. read more

So disappointed. For all of you out there that are not air conditioning gurus, this is not the company for you. When the technician removed the outside cover of my unit, I noticed how dusty and dirty the coils were. When I asked him if he could include a cleaning, without telling me what a cleaning would include, he stated $175.00. He then went on to grab my garden hose and simply spray the coils with water. All of this lasted maybe 7 minutes. When I asked him if he would wipe any of the parts down he said NO as it is an outside unit and suffers more weathering than whatever he just did. I called the Company and asked to reduce my invoice as simply spraying my unit down with water for 7 minutes was truly not worth 175.00. The Owner (I think) said she was firm with the price (not the service mind you) and said if I didn't like it I could go elsewhere for service. I would never recommend this company, especially to the elderly (which I am) and naive to this type of service. read more

So, three summers ago our ac broke. The service guy came out and said we needed an entirely new system at the cost of $12,000. We had a local handyman come out and he filled it with Freon and put in a new motor for a total of $200 and it's still working after 3 hot summers! These guys are just ripping people off. read more

It is the first time I have used this company, had a furnace go out in the cold weather this week and time was of the essence to get it fixed. From the moment I called I felt that the lady I spoke with was on the ball, she cared about our problem and got everything moving quickly. One of their techs showed up promptly, the part was an unusual circuit board, it was biked over in an hour and the heating was up and running really fast, price was fair and the after sales part was efficient and again, they really cared !!! What I am used to is "lets tell you the heat exchanger has gone bad so we can sell you a new furnace" This did not happen, they looked for the problem, identified it and made the problem go away all within hours, Thank you Carbon Valley heating and air. read more

Out AC finally went down. We called CVHA and they came right over, approved us on the spot for a $6000 plus system and then left. I am a caregiver to my disabled husband. The man whom came to the house did not leave a business card nor sign the paperwork he left. He spoke with my husband who had expressive aphasia so he knew he existed! After two weeks of enduring very high temps we called to see when they were going to install our new system. They had not even put us on the schedule! They knowingly put us in a severe position and when contacted their response was so casual that this obviously must occur frequently. Needless to say we found a much more reliable and extremely more professional company who undercut CVHA's price and provided us with air cooling fans as the last several days were expected to and did set high temp records. Needless to say I would advise anyone looking for this type of service to pass CVHA and go with professionals instead. read more

We sunk thousands into a heat pump system which was installed improperly. Every winter and summer since we bought this unit, we have had to call CVHA in because it wasn't working. Each new tech comes to the house and has something different to say about why the unit does not actually heat or cool our home--one admitted that the wiring was backward, one admitted that CVHA had so many issues with this particular model (Carrier 25HBB3/25HBC(3,5)) that they stopped selling it the year after they sold it to us, and all told us that the system was dirty and that we didn't change the filters enough. There has been construction going on in our area for years, we are smokers, and we have two dogs...so we have religiously changed the filter every four weeks for the last two years after a "full furnace cleaning with tune up." None of our neighbors have had issues with their units, and neither my husband nor I have ever had issues with heating or cooling units in the past, yet CVHS insists, time and again, that we are at fault for the unit not working. It seems to me, with the power and cost of this unit, that we would have less problems than our neighbors and certainly that we would have a better unit than we've ever had in our previous homes; yet, we have a unit that is constantly frozen up. My husband grew up in Florida with four pets and a smoker in the home, and never had issues with air conditioning. I grew up in California with two smokers, two dogs, and never had issues either. Why is this very expensive unit unable to handle something so pedestrian? Perhaps because it was installed incorrectly. In fact, the technician who was magically able to actually clean the unit and get it working--a technician from a different company--stated that the unit was installed incorrectly. Yet, every time CVHS came out, they requested more money for "fixes" that never worked. Two years ago, the owner even came out (bluetooth in place) and told us it would be thousands more to actually repair the unit to working order. In between phone calls that he answered while speaking to us, the owner placed all blame on us. The most resent CVHS tech pumped just over four pounds too much refrigerant into the outside condenser to try and make the unit work, which cost us $75 per pound to take out by another company who explained that the excess refrigerant could have ruined the entire unit. After the new tech from a different company actually cleaned the unit properly, he was able to get proper readings and know exactly how much refrigerant to put in. We have had a working unit now for a few days and are so pleased. I will be contacting the Better Business Bureau to discuss the questionable practices of this company and its owners. read more
