Located on the strip directly in front of the beach with black sand just steps away. All of the tables are set outside unless drinking inside at the bar. Good drinks, good variety of whole meals of Puertorriqueño food. They offer snacking foods as well that are American Mexican (Tex Mex). The food is well seasoned not overly greasy or salty. All priced fairly, not hurting the pickets. Service is prompt and friendly. The location is also family friendly. When you're ready, ask for your bill and payments are made inside at the bar. If you're not native to the island you may want to spray heavily with insect repellent. read more

Food excellent. Wait time short. Great ambience and beautiful views. Mini piononitos were very yummy! I had the lechon with arroz mamposteado and it was very good however I believe they cooked the pork or the vegetables close to fish because the lechon and it's vegetables tasted like fish. I am not a huge fish fan so obviously I didn't like it. I would recommend they be very careful of cross contamination. Drinks are good. Mojito better than the sangria de parcha. Bathroom modern but needs to be cleaned often. Lots of toilet paper on the floor. I will likely come back. read more

My girl first came with a friend while at work and couldn't stop talking about this place. The food, the mojitos the ambiance, the view and the price. It a way from where we live but I finally came. And let me tell you, she was right! Great ocean front spot with the sounds of the waves and soft roots reggae playing in the background. Accompanied by good food, great mojitos and great price. Well worth the trip. Try the mini piononos, the masitas de pescado and the churascos. Also the Coco mojitos, pana mojitos and the parcha mojitos. Beers were really cold too. We went there on a Tuesday afternoon at 3:00 to have a late lunch. It was not crowded at all, yet it took the server around 15 minutes to get to our table, which was dirty when we got there. I ordered lobster empanadillas, which they were out of. So I switched to shrimp. My mom ordered BBQ chicken breast with mamposteado, a mix of rice and beans, and my dad ordered BBQ ribs with tostones. All of our food was very good, hence the 3 stars, but they could do better with the service. It's right on the beach, and has a outdoor patio which is right on the road. Seems like it would be a great place for a weekend night out. Only if the service is better, though. read more

I order the fried fish with salad and red bean. The food was tasty had great flavor specially the fish fried to perfection. My friend order the grilled chicken with tostones said food was great . The view of ocean in the restaurant is perfect setting, the restaurant make feels like home. I also the alcapurrias ( fried fritter filled with meat or seafood). Currently at this restaurant and can I say that I am NOT impressed, the food took two hours to be served and was no where near expected. Food was dry and inedible. DISGUSTING!!! Servers were absent throughout the two hours we waited and were taking shots on the job. It should not have taken two hours to serve soggy fries. The bathrooms were shitty (no pun intended) and the mosquitoes ate better than us. read more

I reached Mayagüez after a long day traveling across Puerto Rico. Tried to visit Uva Playa because of its high rating on Yelp, but they were closed by the time I reached the restaurant at 9:45. Carbón de Palo was right next door, and it was hopping. I didn't see anyone eating, but I approached the bar anyway to ask if the kitchen was open. After hearing my broken Spanish, the staff very graciously spoke English. A rather gregarious bartender with a pirate-like salt-and-pepper beard said of course they were still serving food and handed me a menu. I didn't recognize all the items since it was in Spanish, but decided on camarones (shrimp) and the bartender explained the available sides to me and helped me pick the best accompaniments. I wasn't expecting much since it was after 10pm, I was at the bar, and no one else was eating, but boy was I surprised. The rice and beans were expertly seasoned. The tostones were hot and crispy. And the shrimp were tender, juicy, and savory. The bartender remained friendly and attentive during my meal. If all the food here is as good as the shrimp, you don't want to miss the authentic Puerto Rican flavor of Carbón de Palo. read more

Great restaurant!!! The food is increible! The service is great. Our waiter was a young man with light eyes and curly hair, very sweet and great customer service. We ordered a surtido de carne and it was delish. The portions are more than enough, it was five of us.The mojitos are delish and the coronas were ice cold. Service can be slow and a bit lacking when it's full, but the food is great and there's often live music. Good mojitos too!

The food is good and the views are beautiful, right next to the beach. However during lunch they only have one server so service was terrible. My food took literally 45min to come out, and then I never saw the server again. People who arrived 20min after me goy their food first. I had to get up and take my food to the so they could pack it and ask for my check, which took another 15min. read more
