This spot was near the highway with a large parking lot. The ladies were helpful with explaining…read moredishes and providing sauce options. Well air conditioned restaurant. The mofungo was bit salty for us but still yum and the spicy margarita lacked spice so not my favorite. We came for the spicy cheese balls and tres leches. Bummer these items are no longer served, but I recommend you come for the vibes.

I enjoyed some of the best food of my vacation here!…read more When we entered the restaurant our initial impression was not favorable since there was a large party of maybe ten middle aged men drinking and talking very loudly- we thought maybe this was more of a bar. These men left quickly though and the atmosphere became more like a regular restaurant with just a few other small groups of diners. We were quickly seated and offered drinks. Weirdly there is no wine list but they ask you to choose from wines on a wine rack, who does this? We just opted for the house wine which turned out to be fine. First glass was a little skimpy but our second glass was a generous pour and a great deal for $6 a glass. For apps we had some delicious cod croquetas and spicy cheese balls with guava sauce. OMG the cheese balls were so yummy! I'd go back here just for these. For an entree I had the shrimp piñon and it was amazing- perfect plantain mixed with a generous serving of shrimp (6) and covered in a white sauce. This was one of my favorite meals on the island! Easy parking out front, close to the highway. Service was fine and perfectly bilingual.

I'd rather wait a little longer for a quality meal then instantly receive blah food. The first time I went I was still somewhat full from a late breakfast. I ordered the sorullitos (fried corn sticks) to have something and as full as I was, I still ate the whole plate. My girlfriend had the chicken bacon sandwich and plain mofungo. We could tell the mofungo was excellent, even though we had never had it before. The sandwich was big enough for two people. The second time we ate there I was hungrier so I ordered the Pechuga de Pollo Asopaos (Chicken Gumbo). It came with more sorullitos which were great - and the gumbo came out in a little metal pot. It was the best gumbo I've ever had, including gumbo I've eaten at top rated places in New Orleans. I couldnt finish it because of the portion size; it was big enough for two, maybe even three people; but I wish I could have! I fed the sorullitos I couldn't finish to the beautiful tarpin fish that swim around the restaurant (it's on a pier). My girlfriend ordered tostones (fried plantains), mozzarella sticks, and spinach/artichoke dip appetizers as her meal. Everything came out perfect and fresh. While we were there we had the opportunity to experience their St. Patrick's day Parade / celebration. This is a must see. The whole town / region gets together and marches through the town ending up at the restaurant. If you make advanced reservations you can sit in the dining area after the parade and enjoy corned beef and cabbage. I was pleased with this meal as well, and the party was a great time. The only negative thing I can think to say is that they add 15% tip automatically to every check. I don't like that some restaurants do this, but I understand why they do. As long as it's clearly marked on the menu and bill (it was) I tolerate it. My advice: if you find yourself in Boqueron head over to Galloway's. Be patient, as your food may take some time to come out, but you will be happy and satisfied when it does. If you are looking for something to do next St. Paddy's day, take a trip down to Boqueron in Cabo Rojo and enjoy a great time!
