The garage is always broken causing some frustration when trying to get home. Otherwise, it's a wonderful place to call home when living in an apartment in Durham, North Carolina. When I followed up and shared the email proof, the response I got was that they "don't know who sent those emails." That was extremely disappointing and felt completely unprofessional. If written communication from their own team isn't acknowledged, it raises serious concerns about accountability. This process involved multiple back-and-forth and ended up wasting a lot of my time. More importantly, it felt misleading and dishonest. I would strongly advise others to be very cautious. Even if you have things in writing, it may not be honored. There are far better apartment options out there with more transparent and reliable management teams--would definitely recommend exploring those instead of Station 9.

The high ceilings and large living room/kitchen area is wonderful and makes for a great place to host events or even just hang out. The echo due to the high ceilings may be irritating at times when people are sleeping, but overall, love the look. We've had a good number of issues with the AC (doesn't work right--always make the apartment freezing when on and when it's off the apartment is just unbearably hot). We also had a few lighting issues that were fixed. My room faces harris teeter which is also problematic since I can hear EVERYTHING in the mornings. The loud trucks are really a bother when you're trying to sleep past 6am. We here told that by the time we moved in there would be a new gym. There is still only a very old and small one downstairs. The clubhouse has printers and coffee/tea which is nice. However, that room is impossible to work in at night since the lighting is terrible and the only other study room is usually occupied/more of a game room. The valet trash service is handy but also costs an extra $30 a month (required service). The pool/grill area is nice for warmer days. Friendly front desk representatives. I do think the whole apartment complex is overpriced for Durham, but that's pretty typical of the area since they know mostly Duke students will be renting and will pay the higher price to be close to campus.

The leasing staff is very inconsistent and changes almost on a month to month basis. They did re-mulch and put new pine straw down on the landscaping, which looks much better. Maintenance request are taking longer and longer to get taken care of ( currently waiting 4 days for them to fix a big hole in one of my doors). I was also told that the leasing office was trying to implement some type of events for the residents in the future but now that that office person is no longer here those efforts are gone. Overall, my expectations were made a lot higher than what the reality of living here is, maybe it will get better in the next 6 months.

From the very beginning, he was incredibly pleasant, professional, and genuinely helpful. We quickly realized that Bell Chapel Hill didn't have an apartment available within the timeframe I needed, so I expected the conversation to end there. Instead, Matthew went above and beyond to help me with my search. He referred me to several of their sister properties that might better fit my timeline and even took the time to recommend areas he thought would be a good fit for me as someone moving to the area. Following our call, he sent me a detailed email with the sister properties he recommended, along with suggestions for places I should check out once I move to North Carolina. What impressed me most is that Matthew provided this level of service even though I wasn't going to be renting from Bell Chapel Hill. He could have simply told me they had no availability but instead he took the initiative to make sure I had resources to continue my search. I've lived in and rented many apartments over the years and I can honestly say this was some of the best customer service I've experienced during an apartment search. Matthew made me feel like he genuinely wanted to help me find the right home, not just make a sale. Bell Partners is lucky to have someone like Matthew on their team. If this is an example of the level of service they provide their residents, I can absolutely understand why someone would want to live here.

Update: they advise (in comment below) that they're complying and that they've sent numerous emails…read moreout asking people to wear masks which is untrue. Test the REAL answer: watch how many enter & exit w/out masks. See if they ask anyone to wear a mask when they enter without one. See if they discuss mask mandates during apartment tour. Look for mask requirement signs beyond the 1 door. Ask the tenants (if you visit) if people often roam without masks. Visit the lobby and gym and note how many are there without masks - you'll notice no signs and that staff say nothing. Additional note: I discovered they are using a service like BirdEye to scrub customer reviews they don't agree with. Initial post: When we interviewed for the apartment we were calmly REASSURED that masks were enforced and had no feeling that they would have a reason to lie about that important issue. Move-in day and every day since has proved this to be wrong. There are children under 5, people with immune issues, uninsured & under-insured, and people who have lost work (and can't afford excessive Covid-related medical bills) all living here but they do not care enough to make this be an issue of importance. There are more reasons to enforce this (for guests, visiting vendors & tenants), if not just for the greater good of the tenants. They have ONE sign on ONE door in the entire building for hundreds that live/visit and use multiple entrances, elevators, etc. They don't care that the health system is weighed down with Covid patients, that we've seen tenants wheeled out in ambulances with Covid too. They have had a chance to be a light in the community, but instead took the indifferent/complacent/complicit path that is guided by corporate greed. Will update review as needed. Lori found it and LEFT IT OUT in the lobby where anyone could take it. And sure enough, it was stolen. When I suggested that they set up a lost and found in a secure area, Mackenzie defended Lori's action. BEWARE of the Berkshire rental agents, they will gladly give away anything you leave behind!
