"The Height of Urban Luxury" ???…read more Southpoint Village can only be referred to as a "luxury" apartment complex in the same sense that jumping out of a 10th floor window can be called a way to exit a building. As of this writing, it is Memorial Day Weekend and the pool, which is supposed to be open year-round, is empty and nowhere near ready for use. The only community grills are locked inside the fence alongside sun-bleached, grimy furniture that evokes a long-forgotten roadside motel. In keeping with that aesthetic, at least half a dozen abandoned cars are scattered throughout the parking lot. It is inconceivable that management hasn't noticed these cars. As my photos show, some lack license plates and have flat tires. While the units are spacious in terms of total square feet, the layouts are poorly designed. Massive dining areas cut heavily into the living rooms, and in most layouts, the kitchens are cramped. The fake wood floors are impossible to get clean, and the hot water tanks are too small if you happen to have long hair or simply enjoy a good shower. As for the appliances, they are beyond terrible--it's as if someone traveled back in time and raided a warehouse in the Soviet Union. The staff are personally very nice, but it does not substitute for their incompetence. Aside from failing to prepare the pool for summer or address the abandoned vehicles, their communication is abysmal. To announce a mandatory maintenance entry, management bypassed email and the community app entirely. Instead, they opted to post a single paper printout at one specific office entrance. Because of this, I was getting out of the shower when maintenance knocked a few times and immediately began unlocking my front door. In any other complex this wouldn't be an issue, but these doors cannot be deadbolted from the inside to prevent staff entry. There are a lot of apartments within a few miles of here. If you want luxury, or the guarantee of privacy, I suggest you look elsewhere.

When we arrived, there was nobody in the office, in the middle of the afternoon on a Friday. We finally met up with the leasing agent, who informed us there were no elevators on the property. My husband, who is a wheelchair user, was unable to even see the unit she had available and she then went on to tell us that some of the amenities were down a flight of stairs. Considering this property was built in 2006, this is literally illegal. It is fine to have some units only accessible by stairs, but the common areas MUST be accessible per the ADA. This was a very short tour and I will probably be reaching out to the management company as well. This is absolutely unacceptable in 2023. Besides that, there was nothing special about the community, and we were not even shown the pool area, or other amenities. It was all under renovation so hard to tell what was construction and what was just the state of the community. Fine if you want the bare minimum with a mall in your backyard, but if you want anything above that, look elsewhere. I cannot support a company that doesn't abide by the laws for equal access.

While management focused on power washing, painting buildings, and repaving the parking lot, the inside of the units fell apart. This has been the worst apartment experience I've ever had. I dealt with a leaking ceiling for over a year, which was never fully resolved. I also experienced constant HVAC issues--A/C problems and repeated heat failures. Even after the unit was replaced, it continued blowing cold air, including on emergency heat. Whenever temperatures dropped below 30 degrees, the heat stopped working entirely. That is unsafe and unacceptable, especially with a school-aged child. There were multiple work orders documenting these issues. Paying premium rent under these conditions is unjustifiable. Noise was another ongoing issue. Downstairs neighbors frequently argued at the top of their lungs, often accompanied by a child screaming, creating a distressing and disruptive living environment. I spoke with Laurie Melton, who showed some concern, but after more than a year, being told it "takes time to pinpoint" a ceiling leak is not an acceptable response. The building was also advertised as secured with key-fob entry and a call box for guests. The call box was supposedly being worked on from the time I moved in, yet it never functioned during my tenancy. This complex is not worth what they charge. The price does not reflect the real living conditions behind closed doors. Don't be fooled by exterior updates or renovated unit photos--the reality does not match the promise.

Rest of the staff from the leasing office (Sandra Boykin and Jamilha ) will sweet talk you on becoming a resident but after being a resident they are not helpful , any issues you bring up to them they make you feel like you are bothering them and will get an attitude instead of being cordial and adddresing any issues during your lease . The complex is a very dirty , roaches e everywhere including in side the unit ( hallways , parking deck,, main entrance to the building , ) the events they have monthly are horrible, nothing but cheap stuff from the store and don't have enough for residents . Overall a horrible experience for the amount of money they charge each resident . If I could give this place a negative review below zero I would . I have had to stay proactive about my unit issues and waste my money and time fixing most of the issues . They have a lot of building code violations and health violations aswell . Every morning, I am woken up by the noise of someone walking on the cracking roof BEFORE 8 AM! I email the leasing office several times. They replied my first email and claimed that they would communicate with the vendor, but the noise did not stop. The other emails following up on this issue from me have been ignored. In addition to the two experiences I mentioned above, 3) The building if of poor quality. The ceiling leaks. There were several very noisy fans put in the corridor to dry the wall after it snowed this winter. 4) The do have roaches! 5) The gym is not maintained in time. It takes centuries for them to replace or repair equipments that do not work properly. 6) The apartment was not cleaned before I moved in! I found dead roaches in the room!! There are good things though. The maintenance team fixes things in the apartment quickly, and they always try to keep your place clean while doing their job. I also appreciate one of the ladies in the leasing office for signing my package when I was not able to come back home. However, overall, as a place where I pay to get enough sleep, chapel hill north is a poor choice.

This is completely unacceptable and reflects gross mismanagement. We were initially misled and told the delay was due to mail delivery and that it could take months to arrive. Only later did management admit the check had been sent to the wrong address. We were then told a replacement check was cut in early November and would take 30-45 days to receive. That timeframe has long passed, and we still have nothing. Communication has been abysmal. Multiple voicemails and messages have gone unanswered, and there has been zero accountability or follow-through from management. At this point, the lack of response feels intentional. Holding a former tenant's money for half a year with shifting explanations and no communication is not just unprofessional, it is outrageous. This is not how a legitimate property management company operates. Prospective tenants should think very carefully before trusting Crosstown at Chapel Hill with their money. I could also go on to speak about how our apartment wasn't turned over before we moved in (found a razor blade embedded in the carpet!!) which we were told we would receive discounted first month rent for (never happened), the ongoing bug problems, the pools being closed majority of the summers, the lack of response to maintenance requests, the dangerous rotting wood on the balcony, the disgusting and constant overflowing trash at the dumpsters, etc. Follow up in April on 2025: we have STILL not received our security deposit and we moved our EIGHT months ago

We loved the older charm of the unit (hardwoods, high ceilings, huge windows), and the kitchen was nicely updated. Some of the drawbacks were the cost of utilities because the home wasn't well insulated, and the occasional maintenance issue, but these are just old property issues and not Trinity specific. We were always super impressed with their responsiveness to any maintenance issues. This is a real stand out to us in terms of positives, and made a great impression. Also, they are incredibly fair with returning the security deposit, which you don't see very often! The people working in the office are all very kind and helpful. We wholeheartedly recommend these apartments to anyone looking for an attentive landlord, as long as your okay with dealing with the charms of older properties.

Once inside the Murchison apartments, the other couple pushed me aside and practically bowled me over to be first in the door, pounding Guy with questions then informing him they "probably" wanted the place but had "one more place to see and they'd be back soon" and abruptly left. Guy looked at me with a friendly smile and said, "Can I give you a quick tour?" I loved the place instantly: the big windows, spacious living area and hardwood throughout. The kitchen was as small as a postage stamp (recent photos show they expanded and remodeled it) and said I was ready to sign. He smiled and said, "I'm so glad you do. Those other folks weren't very polite; you seem like you'd be a very nice tenant." Guy was a terrific landlord and true to Trinity's website, the apartments were a great value, especially since they were close proximity to Duke University. I rented two apartments from Trinity at the Murchison Apartments on Demerious Street and Georgetown Apartments, my favorite being Georgetown because it had a large eat-in kitchen and pantry and two spacious bedrooms upstairs. (Murchison was a little quirkier and smaller, it was still a cute place. It had a fantastic storage area under the stairs where I stashed Christmas decorations and luggage). Both apartments were townhouses and very cozy with central air conditioning, a *must for those sweltering summers in the South. Both apartments were very well maintained by Trinity. After Guy had bought the Georgetown apartments he asked if we'd like to take a look. It was literally dollars more a month with an extra bedroom and extra 1/4 bath. He even let me choose the carpeting and linoleum from (4) samples and remodeled it fully before we moved in. If I ever moved back to the Triangle area, I'd call Guy for help navigating the real estate market since he is a very savvy real estate investor and/or rent from him again. All these years later, I still have the move/out form with a personal note from Guy that reads, "Thanks for leaving the place in such super shape!" All these years later, fond memories from a fabulous landlord. If you're looking for an apartment in Durham or Raleigh, start with Trinity Apartments.

I had learned thei r is a new modern sister property in town. No one wants to leave their job at Trinity. TRINITY has more units- 1 bedroom to 3 bedrooms meaning more money and newer. You don't take people's property that have been here or planning on staying just to advance your job and be in control on a power trip. Not a friendly approach to renters. Don't take your job because your dissatisfied with your present and have to get your way like a child. Training is bad for some people in leasing office. 6 people have moved out in the last 2 months since Breyten started on April Fools Day. A new manager would be appreciated! Pool opened late. Laundry by the leasing office is closed until further notice. Her priorities are not in order. Not experienced to take on the job. People skills are bad. Chateau Apartments was a private place to begin with since the 1980's anyway!
