Lousy mocha latte. More like hot chocolate with no espresso. Dull bagel. Unfriendly service. No need to go back.

Food Quality: 5/5 Service: 5/5…read moreCleanliness: 5/5 Value: 5/5 Don't skip on: The Grits! They're super creamy and delicious! This was my first trip to South Carolina and the first stop was Southern Manners - it did not disappoint! We had a huge group of ladies to celebrate our bride and the staff were all fabulous - big shout out to our cashier/server, Jaden! He was amazing and so accommodating with our 19 top. The ordering was as smooth as it could be and Jaden made sure to go around asking any questions he had about the orders. The food came out relatively quick considering how many people we had and I really appreciate the staff. The pricing was very reasonable and i would recommend if you're looking for a real home-y feeling restaurant with good food! In regards to ordering, we had special accommodations because we were a big group, but normal flow has customers ordering and paying when they walk in the door and then the food is brought to your table. It has a fast food vibe, but I didn't mind it! The line moved pretty quick while we were there. Can't wait to go back!

Hubby found this little restaurant on a map while I was driving and it sounded like a nice local…read moreplace to eat lunch rather than having fast food or going to a chain restaurant. The restaurant specializes in using local ingredients and the food was top notch. The Nutty Chicken Salad is a green salad WITH nuts, chicken, and fruit, rather than a southern chicken salad. The portion was generous and filling. Hubby's quesadilla was made with what looked to be a spinach wrap and he said it was tasty. The fry I "stole" from his plate was crispy and enjoyable. The iced tea was refreshing and our server got me a to-go cup for the road when we left. We also took a "Whoppers" cookie with us for a sweet treat. Stopping at Stone Soup was definitely an excellent choice in our travels!

What happened to our go-to restaurant in Landrum?!…read more We were big fans and frequent visitors to Stone Soup based on good food, service and atmosphere. That changed tonight. We were welcomed with a hand-written dry erase board outside of the entrance promoting "SPecails" and should have turned around then. We were seated at the bar and eventually greeted by a bartender, who was able to get me a drink, on my 3rd order (telling us that the manager had quit, the pear martini was no longer on the menu due to cost and that they didn't have the Edmunds Oast, Bound by Time beer that was on the menu (actually spelled on menu as "Bond")). My Wife ordered her usual, Cosmo, and said it was the worst she'd ever had. We ordered the Mediterranean plate and Brussels. They were both fine but we weren't checked on a single time after they were delivered. Our water glasses were empty well before we finished, and never refilled. When I asked for the check and gave the bartender a $100 bill, she gave me change from her pocket, which was to the restaurant's favor by a few cents! What in the world?!? Again, we have been fans of Stone Soup for years but we won't return given this disappointing (truly) experience.

5 Stars - I've Seen the Light (and It's Covered in Chili and Cheese)…read more Okay, The Dog House... where have you been all my life?? I finally rolled through the drive-thru (because let's be honest, I wasn't getting out of the car with this humidity), and let me tell you -- my taste buds did a happy dance and then asked me why I took so long to visit. I ordered a chili cheese burger with fries and slaw, and baby, that combo slapped. I'm talking messy, cheesy, juicy goodness that made me question every other burger I've ever had. The crew at the window? Sweet as tea on a Sunday porch. Friendly, fast, and all smiles -- which is rare these days when you're not even stepping inside. A couple pro tips: They charge a small fee for card use -- no biggie, just bring cash and save the change for extra fries. And get this -- 10 hot dogs or corn dogs for $12. I mean... what in the recession-proof snack pack is this blessing? Anyway, don't be like past me -- go now. Your stomach will thank you, and so will your wallet. The Dog House? More like Top Dog in my book. I had to call them and tell them how amazing my visit was! My tastes buds are still dancing! No, thank you Brandon! Wow! I will definitely come back with my family next time and eat inside. My kids love corn dogs!

We went to a tasting here as part of a tour of several Western NC wineries. This one was the one we…read moreliked least out of the four wineries we toured. We tasted three estate wines (the grapes for the wines were grown on the estate itself) and two that the winery had bought from California to redistribute, since the last harvest was destroyed by weather conditions. The Californian ones were easily drinkable without much memorable depth to it. For the 14 to 15 dollar price you can get a better wine at grocery stores or even at some wine stores. The estate wines were... not good. We were with about 10 other people at the tasting, and no one liked the wines there. I only write negative reviews on Yelp if I am sure of my opinion, but this one is backed up by other people. I can usually tell when a wine is just not to my personal tastes; these seemed more like something went wrong during production. I personally got glue or nail polish aromas from the wines. From what I've researched, that means something went wrong with volatile acidity levels in the wine, i.e. it's a flaw in how the wine was produced. The scenery here is very pretty though, and we tasted some merlot chocolate ice cream made by the owner that is supposed to become available commercially soon and was truly excellent.

Cabarnet franc has been my favorite so far but tasting notes vary from year to year. If you I don't like it once, try another visit a season later! They are famous for their red Chardonnay but I've never gotten to taste it. Please note that most wines are not your typical muscadines of the south so if you are into that (which I am most definitely not) you may not enjoy the wine as much. Also, they make nice ice cream in the summer with wine flavors. Staff: super friendly and knowledgeable. Owner will give you a tour in a golf cart if you want to see the vines. They can point you in the direction of other wineries too (3 really close by). Atmosphere: usually too crowded for my taste but we can still find a seat even if not at the bar. Very beautiful location.
