Unfortunately this course has gone so far downhill. Played today for the first time in 20years. The new ownership has clearly not tried to keep ole Shady Lawn up to par. Bunkers over grown, greens dying, putting greens with grass growing into the hole. I was very sad today to see my old course going so far downhill. Every time I make a tee time and Steve is working he treats me and my friends with disrespect and thinks he is above everyone. He has used profanity towards us and speaks over us when we try to talk to him. There is many other great members that work here such as Phil and John. Phil is the greatest worker here. He has let us play on whatever course we prefer and is nice with us. We have all agreed we want to see things done with Steve and want a heartfelt apology from him. read more

a group of friends and i come to this course often. while we don't love the course, it's our local course so we tolerate it. the problem is we are often disrespected by staff. specifically, staff member steve. he has cussed out my group and raised his voice multiple times for simply doing as we are instructed. we had a group of 7 and had one friend play ahead, 4 in the middle, and 2 behind. we played as told. on the last hole, our friend stayed to watch us finish our game. while we were finishing. Steve came out using vulgar language and screaming at us to get off the course as we are disrespectful and never do as told. when we tried to explain ourselves and the situation, he spoke over us and continued using profanity. until this problem with steve is handled, we will not be coming back. another problem is the course is not well maintained, grass is long, even in the fairways and greens are brown. course has tons of potential with a great layout if it was just kept maintained properly. Until staff problems are addressed, we will not be returning. read more

came out to golf nine holes. we had checked online for prices and to book a tee time online it said $30 plus $5 for a cart. we decided to just drive out to see if they had any walk-on times. they did but the guy said it was $70 each. i was like no we are only playing nine. he's like doesn't matter it's a Sunday????? Huh. will never come back if they don't honor their online pricing. read more

What a joke. Do not waist your time with this place. I made a tee reservation for Saturday morning at 10:40am and when I showed up the parking lot was full. When I went into the pro shop to check in the guy at the desk laughed, and I asked what was so funny. I was told the the boss booked an last minute golf outing and there was a huge backup and no carts available and had no clue of when we would be able to get on the course. So this just tells me when you make plans with people a head of time with this place it dose not madder because if something better comes along they will just push you off to the side. Will never return to this place and plan on telling anyone I talk to about what a joke this place is. read more

Golf course was fun to play. Very small greens and not being able to find my ball just off the fairway was my only complaint.

Played here on 4/24/19 in the afternoon. Course was in great shape for this early in the season and the staff were very welcoming. I'd quit playing here for a few years because the course had been in such rough shape. It was a nice surprise to see it coming back around. Definitely worth the reasonable rates. Hot garbage. Absolutely, without a doubt the worst maintained course I've ever played. There clearly was a reason it was one of only a few courses in the Chicagoland area with an early Sunday tee time. The fairways are so long, balls get lost in them. Tee boxes are 1/2 dirt and feel lucky to be on one that's not a sidehill lie. What's sad is that the layout has potential, but nothing is done to make it a positive experience. Strangely enough, their GPS is actually quite nice. You need it for direction though, as you're teeing off into a cow pasture on almost every hole. Great golf, great food. Traveled up from Springfield, IL to play golf today. The course is in good shape. Taking a break after the front nine and the hot dog was very good, the beer is cold. Management is very attentive to needs of the customers. I will look forward to playing here in the future. read more

Just played Cardinal Creek G.C. on June 2, 2017. Course was in the best condition in the last 3 years. Greens were very fast but smooth and true. fairways were maintained very well and the roughs were difficult but fair. Really enjoyed our round and the lunch after play. Under new management/ownership, this golf course has improved greatly. It is in the best shape I have ever seen it. The new owner and the staff are very courteous, professional and accommodating. The greens are the best I have ever seen at Cardinal. The team is constantly working to improve the course and from all indications, I believe Cardinal will be one of the best public courses in the area very soon. I really like the fact that this course has 27 holes and you don't experience the waiting on every hole and can complete 18 holes in 4 hours or less. read more

GOLFER BEWARE! Cow pastures are better than this golf course and the managers customer service is equivalent to manure! No sand in traps- just moss, fairways full of sticker weeds and dandelions and lastly an unprofessional manager with ZERO customer service skills appropriately named "Chucky". Under new ownership, this so called course is the worst its ever been and now the most expensive. We were promised at check in a refurbished course when we balked at the twilight/Monday/Summer rate (on April 18th?) of $29. After plowing what seemed to be a farmers field through the first 9, we learned the pro shop had NO beverages to sell, however bottled water (that used to be complimentary with a round) was now $1.50. After asking to speak to a manager, we were greeted by a disaster of a person, with no basic customer skills who was acting like he's managing Pinehurst. We will never return. And since we both know everyone in town, we will make sure everyone knows to go to Glenwoodie for $25 from now on.These new owners have a lot to learn a lot about business and the value of customer service and retaining customers. read more
