Definitely do not recommend. Our dog had a problem and they told us they'd "work us in," so I took off work, and arrived only to be put in a hot, stuffy room and left for an hour and a half. No communication, no updates, nothing. Front office was rude and abrupt. Vet tech who did the initial workup acted like it was her first day. No one checked on us, talked to us, or updated us. No "You're next in line," or "It'll only be 30 more minutes," they just abandoned us. Finally had to just leave, as we had other things to do. Very unprofessional, and poorly managed office. They called my wife after I left, and she was told that "the vet thinks [our dog] has Kennel Cough." Only problem is, the vet never saw our dog. I'm really, REALLY curious how they determined this without even seeing the animal. read more

My beloved cat of 14 years was put down Monday.... we tried so hardto make It easy for him, And instead it was a nightmare. We had him wrapped in a blanket, and I held him,our appointment was at 4:15 and we were there for over an hour. My heart was breaking to lose him and these people made it much worse than it needed to be. First off the sedation shot should not have made him almost scream in pain, that is something I'll never understand. And no one I mean no one should have to wait over an hour dreading a dear Pets death. That was just cruelty .To say we will never be back there is an understatement. What on earth would our family do without Dr. Spencer and the wonderful staff? I just cannot imagine. Dr. Spencer has cared for our pets for more years than this particular clinic has been open. She has guided or babies' well-being with loving "care" and her guidance has helped our rescued Shelties live more healthy and happy lives. The staff have been kind and generous whether giving them care or grooming. Our long-time vet tech, Bobbie has helped us over about 30 years, give or take a day. One of the hardest things is deciding when it's time to put your beloved pet down. Bella was a part of our family for over 5 years, helping my daughter with autism cope with anxiety. She was a friendly, timid and calm dog. The only downfall is she had a weight issue that we've been dealing with and putting her on a strict diet. Over the winter she slipped on the first snow storm and tore her ACL in her back leg and we took her into a different vet as Care Animal Center was closed and they took an X-ray and put her on pain meds. Since then, she's had trouble walking and needs to do a lot of resting. With resting and no exercise, it is not helping her lose any weight and her condition slowly deteriorated. And when she got to the point where she could no longer walk on both of her back legs and going to the bathroom in the house and on herself, we decided it was best and time for her to be put down as surgery was not an option with her weight. I dropped her off early in the morning at Care Animal Center the other day as they couldn't put her down until the afternoon and I've always trusted Care Animal Center. I signed a paper to give permission to put her down and paid in full, in which they said they'd call when it is done. I received a call a little after the time given, that a worker at Care Animal Center fell in love with my dog and wants to rehab her as she works for a rescue, they would foster her until she gets better and loses her weight then adopt her out. This made me feel so low and I was put on the spot when I was grieving the loss of a dog that is going to be given to a stranger, when she is in pain and suffering. It is selfish to keep her in pain and when she can not even go outside on her own or let alone walk. The person that took Bella did nothing but lie to me. First, she said she was married and her husband fell in love with her and she was blessed and would try to keep Bella as her own. The Vet said she would reimburse me in full for what I paid earlier that day and I never got the payment back to my card. The next morning I called about it and the person that adopted Bella was a bit nervous on the phone. She said things were not going well with her boyfriend (thought she was married?) and she might have to give my dog to ANOTHER foster. Really, passing around a suffering dog that's probably grieving and missing our family and is in pain because she hasn't had her pain meds since yesterday morning! She stated my reimbursement check was ready and asked if she could get Bella's dog toys and pain medications. Which I dropped them off at the office for her for Bella's sake. The Vet had spoken with me about the situation and she asked me to be nice to her as she's going through a lot and did not know my dog was in that bad of condition. And if I wanted to pay again to have her put down as she agreed how bad off she was. I just felt like she had me up against the wall and confusing me and the dog. I feel they should handle the cost of putting her down and how can a veterinarian let a worker control her for doing an inhumane thing like this? I am beyond heartbroken. I will never go back to this veterinarian office, and if you want to put your dog to sleep without being intervened or having your dog taken away, I'd suggest going elsewhere as well! Update Dr Spencer had the nerve to call me and leave a long message when she is still my dog saying I'm sorry you feel this way and fake crying off and o. And stated Bella is walking and wagging her tail Bella doesn't have a tail! And we're giving her 2 pain medications in which I paid her for and she asked for them back! In which her worker that took my dog stated they gave her in injections in which was was never offered to me. AND STATED SHE LOST 9 POUNDS IN 2 WEEKS THAT'S IMPOSSIBLE UNLESS SHES BEING STARVED !!! I wrote a review earlier but Yelp relegated it to the "not recommended" pile of reviews along with 3 other reviews, leaving just one review on the main page. Not sure why, as I have no affiliation with Care Animal Center and am just a very satisfied pet owner/client. Can't update the old review given its "not recommended" status but I just wanted to include an update that we have continued to get great, nuanced care from Dr. Spencer. She effectively uses the history and physical exam to get the right diagnosis and avoid over-testing. As a result, our little English bulldog is thriving and so much healthier than her peers, despite a bunch of inherent bulldog-specific health issues. Dr. Spencer and her staff truly love their animal clients and are good with their anxious/worried human clients, too. They've been very patient in educating me and our dog is so excited to visit the vet -- she remembers and loves everyone there. We also had a session with Melanie Brown, a trainer who works as a veterinary technician in the office. I didn't expect much from our very bull-headed bulldog but in one visit we saw major changes, including obeying several commands, less pulling on the leash (she was so out of control I could no longer walk her), and no more lunging at the neighbors' barking dogs during walks. Two days after our training session, our dog calmly spent 3 days uncrated in the same room with grandpa's Chihuahua, whom she had previously attacked (clamped down on his neck with her jaws). Now we can visit without keeping one of them locked in a crate or separate room. We are going to see Melanie again for help in socializing our dog so that we can go to dog parks and put her in daycare. Once again, I have no personal or financial affiliation with Care Animal Center, Dr. Spencer, Melanie Brown, or any CAC affilliates. I'm just really grateful to have found CAC as before that point we were struggling to care for our adopted high-maintenance and illness-prone bulldog. read more

My 6 week old puppy got very sick overnight. I came in when they opened and even with a busy office, Dr Spencer diagnosed and began treatment to save her life. I take all 7 of my animals here and really like both doctors. Front office staff can be kind of rude and I usually have a long wait but both doctors are thorough and spend time with their patients so I can see why there is a wait. What bothers me is that they can never get me in on short notice when my animal is actually sick, I always have to book out a week+ in advance and when my animal is sick I want them seen ASAP. What's the point of having an established vet if they can't see you when you need them most? I end up going to them for vaccines and other vets when my pet is sick because they never can get me in in a timely manner, even though they know my animals better than a new vet would. read more

On Friday, 1/26/2018, Dr. Spencer was just as heartbroken as we were, to have to inform us, Moose's condition would only get worse, as difficult as it was, Dr. Spencer couldn't help but show, she too, is human, which makes us appreciate and love her more as a vet. we made the heartbreaking decision to let our Dog, Moose, be at peace. the love and compassion Dr. Spencer has for both, animals and their owners, is truly amazing. I can not say enough for The Care Animal Center staff, sometimes the wait times can be longer, but we know each animal is special and will get the one on one time necessary to have a happy, healthy life, and for that...it's well worth the wait. read more

My vet that I usually use (which is going to change now) doesn't offer cremation. My husband found Care Animal Clinic, while he was calling other offices. It was the best decision in the world! They have a separate room for euthanasia, it was so calm and relaxing. Before my cat was euthanized, a vet tech came in and had me pick out an urn. Dr. Spencer came in after awhile and looked at my 14 year old cat, she said my kitty probably had diabetes from just looking at her symptoms. I took her advice, but I could not have just a few more years with my baby poking her everyday. It just felt selfish on my part. Dr. Spencer gave her the sedative and let us just be together for awhile. After it was all over, they told us just to take our time. I could not recommend a nicer vet, vet techs, or staff. To top it off, their prices are very reasonable. read more

On the Saturday after Thanksgiving, my daughter and I brought our 16 year old cat in to be put down. It was a tremendously traumatic experience. However, the staff at Care Animal Center was amazing. They were so kind and caring to my daughter, to myself, and to our cat. They treated us like we really mattered. We even received a sympathy card signed by the staff acknowledging our loss.
