I absolutely love this preschool! After touring two other preschools before our pediatrician recommended that we check out Carebear, I knew right away that this was the preschool for us. It just felt right. The teachers and staff are amazing! My daughter attended Carebear for three years and it was such a great experience. She really looked forward to going to preschool everyday. So many fun activities and she learned so much while she was there. When she started kindergarten, her teacher made multiple comments about how much she already knew and how "ahead" she was in reading and so many other areas. This was all Carebear- I can't take credit for any of it! This place is truly a preschool, not a daycare and I would highly recommend it to any parent who is looking for a safe, nurturing and fun educational environment for their child. read more

The place is not bad and some teachers are actually good. I have the strange feeling the school charter is NOT child care (look at other reviews - there are many). Owner and management has questionable people skills and education for this type of business. Sounds like other people and former employees had some sort disagreements with management and it did not end up well, i can see why. Good facility with good teachers but terrible ownership and management. Just trust what other people are trying to tell you about the ownership and their values. I have used Carebear for about seven years for 3 of my kids and I estimated that we spent about $100,000 during our 7 years. After multiple issues and the vindictive passive aggressive behavior from the owner we are done! Finished! Adios! We have always LOVED our Teachers. Ms Becky, Ms Stacey, Ms Melissa, Ms Amy, Ms Daisy. The only reason I have stuck it out all these years is because of the staff.......at least she has the ability to hire capable people. I even stuck it out when half the staff walked out because of the owners behavior. There was talk and commotion about some concerning issues, ( rumors about teachers having affairs with parents) but I gave them another chance. Stuff happens..... I understand. My middle son was a month out from starting kindergarten and I didn't want to switch schools for just a month! The area has some professional athletes and prominent business owners. If you are one of them then Carrie will break all the "rules" and bend over backwards. She even did it right in front of me multiple times. She was discussing a teacher nannying for an affluent couple and when I asked a teacher to babysit while we went on a date not during school hours she absolutely forbade it. That weekend we went to a birthday party to see 2 teachers working at the party as care providers! Then a month later another teacher went out of town as a nanny. The owner was well aware and permitted it. When I asked about this the owner became vindictive and started passive aggressive behaviors. (Calling and saying I forgot something when I didn't multiple times a week then demanding that Bring it ASAP just to get there and find it.... a towel, water bottle etc) The same month I forgot my sons water bottle. I received a call at work to come bring him a water bottle. I asked if he could use a paper cup and I was told No! I showed up to see other kids with cups. This only happened after I asked about the rules! You have to pick up by 2:45 or there is a late pickup charge. Totally understandable but the charge is only given to certain people. If your a prominent parent then there is no charge, the no exception babysitting policy is waived, they even provide little extras like water bottles and lunch to those kids. It's fine.... I get that an owner of a business can run things how they want but I actually referred 5-6 families to Carebear some of them being affluent people in the area (which is how I discovered the exceptions to the rules and how bad it really is) If they give special treatment to some kids/families and not others just imagine what the kids see in class! The final straw was my youngest son getting pummeled by a "special kid" who did not get in trouble at all. They make you pay full tuition for the month even if the school is on "break" BUT they do not pay the teachers during these breaks! I was ok with paying the extra couple weeks the school was on break because teachers need pay too...... however to find out she doesn't even pay the teachers but pockets the extra tuition is crap! read more

My daughter is now at K after spending 3 years at Carebear. I have mixed feelings about this school. We have experienced a few extremely good teachers there as well as few unfortunate events. Thing went well with Ms Melissa when she was 2, and she learnt so much with Ms Nancy when she was 3 and we are super happy to see her at Pre-K class with Ms Stacey. However, things didn't go all well in those 3 years, when she was 3 at Ocotillo branch, the school was shut down due to sewage problem and was never re-opened. We were notified at the end of that very last school day at that location and told to wait for further notice. My daughter didn't go to carebear for the next week or two and eventually returned to Fulton Ranch location. Then she went to 4's class next year and we realized she was learning the same material that she did in 3's. We immediately requested to have her move to Pre-K, they did an assessment test on her before placing her in Pre-K and she passed with flying colors. We met Ms Stacey in Pre-K class, and we were extremely pleased to see my daughter learning new stuffs again. However, during the spring break of the following year, we received an email from Ms Melissa saying she was no longer working there, due to disagreement with the owner. Following her email was many other emails between parents and telling me that many other teachers had left the school as well, including Ms Stacey. Until today, I still don't fully understand what's going on, it was only two more months to go for the school year and the teachers won't stay. Even my daughter stayed at carebear for the rest of two months, things were never the same again. She didn't learn anything new. I felt my daughter totally wasted her time there when Ms Stacey left. Overall, I am happy with Carebear, not all teachers are equal. Carebear has some really good teachers, as well as some that didn't meet our expectation at that time. As parents, we just need to decide whats best for our children. read more

I was a little concerned about whether my kiddo would be ready for kindergarten so I pulled him out of the school he was at (it was very childcare-like and not so much of a school) to start at Carebear. We are so glad that we did! He's been doing awesome. He, in fact, loves to come home and do homework. I'm feeling much better about his future as a kindergartener. read more

Both of my boys went to Carebear for PreK. We could not be more pleased with how they were prepared for Kindergarten. Their teachers were wonderful and laid a strong foundation for our boys as they begun their school years. We were always greeted as soon as we walked in the door- by name! Carebear is a perfect balance of academic and social growth! We look forward to our daughter starting at Carebear in the fall! read more

We love this place. Great location, clean facility, welcoming teachers and staff! My daughter looks forward to going and the amount of things she's learning on a consistent basis is amazing! I can honestly say that we've never had a complaint and I'm so glad our friend referred us here. I would highly recommend if your looking for an educational environment that still is playful and fun. This school is AMAZING! We came from another private preschool and the difference is night and day. The school is smaller with smaller class sizes. The teachers are actual teachers and are there because preschool is their passion. They are truly invested in each child. The progress that my child has made is amazing and she is so happy about going each day. I would recommend this school to anyone and everyone. read more

"Please try this place for yourself..." is how my most recent post read regarding Carebear. However, significant changes recently took place. Some of the teachers quit Carebear - about 4-5 teachers. My understanding is that working conditions with the ownership reached a breaking point. I know that with any issue the truth lies somewhere in the middle, however when such a high number of teachers resign at once it speaks to something seriously wrong at Carebear. This come after the issue of the Ocotillo branch closing - which left a really bad taste in many parents mouth - at least per the reviews. How sad to write this review, Carebear was amazing and my child benefited greatly. She is going to public school in July - so 2 months won't impact her too much. but I wanted her little brother to also attend Carebear - once he turned 2. Now not so sure :( Hope the kids still attending are given as much love and attention as my little one was given. read more

We started our daughter at Carebear after experiencing two other facilities. Carebear is by far the best. The staff is so friendly and genuinely happy. They focus on educating your child, but yet with the empathy and understanding little toddlers need. We enrolled our daughter in carebear after a terrible experience at another school. We had high expectations and boy, has carebear exceeded every single one. Fast forward 1 year and we continue to be impressed. The staff is educated and friendly, the curriculum is structured and engaging, the facility is beautiful and the classrooms are well-organized and clean. Our daughter has learned so much; from writing her name to learning how to engage in social settings, how to recognize and express her emotions in a positive way, and most importantly she has learned how to learn! There is nothing better than when your child asks to go to school, and when they don't want to leave when you show up at the end of the day. She loves her teachers and all of her friends, and we love them too! If you are looking for the preschool of your dreams, stop looking and enroll at Carebear ASAP! I wish I had known about Carebear when my daughter was 2, I tried 3 preschools and none of them came close to being as great as Carebear. What an AMAZING SCHOOL, the teacher's work very hard and really care about how your child is going to succeed and be ready for their future. My child has learned how to read and write within the first 2 weeks of attending this school, very impressive for such a short time:) The school is extremely clean and well taken care of. The teacher's put a lot of heart and soul into there classrooms and teaching, making you feel like family. I'm extremely grateful that the owner and director are always on top of making everyday a great day at school. My daughter is now in kindergarten and really wishes she can go to Carebear. I have referred a lot of families to Carebear and they have since told me how happy they are knowing that there child is finally learning and happy going to school. read more

My daughter has attended Carebear for 2 years. As most parents do, we went through an arduous process to find the right place. Carebear is not the cheapest provider around, that's a fact. However, the "you get what you pay for rule" applies here. We first enrolled our child here, and decided it was too pricey for us. She attended couple of other daycare providers in the area, and they were no match. Here is the key: Unlike other that babysit kids and teach as an afterthought, the learning process is numero uno at this place. We simply tightened our belts to pay for the tuition and rest assured its well worth it. This place is awesome, not sure how anyone can say anything negative about this organization. This preschool is great! The teachers are very friendly. I will say though, it's expensive.

My daughter has been going there for 2 years and have loved it. Now our third daughter started there. The center decided to now have a dog on premise that is on the playground playing with all the kids during their recess/play time. NO information about this was ever sent home or made aware to parents, NO allergies questions were ever asked. The dog was there one day and there to stay. 2 days ago I found out that the dog is not just behind the desk, it goes out to the playground and plays, pees and poops where my child plays (they have artificial turf, no real grass). I feel like the center has put my child and every other child in danger by not properly informing us of this change. What if a child gets bitten? What if a child has an allergy (which on their medical form asks nothing about pet allergies, so the owners do not know if your child is allergic to pets or not). I know for a fact that parents are unaware that the dog is out with their kids. At the end of the day a dog is an animal and who know how it will handle when 20 kids pulls his tail. He is not leached it is roaming the playground the property halls. The owner Carrie Kuhn has been extremely rude and told me that she didn't have time to deal with people like me, that people were lining up to go to this school and I pretty much was a nobody. (Let me remind you that I have been a very happy, PAYING customer for the past 2 years). I wrote a long email explaining my concern and all I receive in return was 4 words, "Please read your contract". I then send her another email for her to call me asap as I wanted to talk to her about this, no response, so I send another. Latter that night I received an email from her and this is verbatim what she wrote: "I do not appreciate being harassed, emailing me four times within thirty minutes while I am trying to spend time with my family is unacceptable". Let me remind all of you that I didn't call, or show up I emailed her at 3PM during business hours. Her comments says it all. She has no business and people skills and I also found out that both preschool are not capable of retaining ANY teachers, they all leave as soon as they can, very HIGH turnover. For the past 2 years prices have gone up and the hours that the children are there has gone down, and now an unleashed dog is there without any warning or info to parents, no comments on the bulletin board, not messages from the teacher going home with your child, nothing. If we wanted to know we just had to ask, according to Carrie. Their education of children used to be amazing and they had an amazing place, but not as of today August 2011. All they now care is money and not the people, teacher, or students. I will unfortunately never tell anyone to go there, but will do everything I can to let everyone know how bad of a place and unsafe it is. read more

Great teachers but the worst owner - Carrie Edwards, who has no clue on how to run a school and no inclination towards working in the best interest of kids. Kicking teachers, directors and kids out of school is a frequent scenario here. My daughter attended here and it was a disaster including a physical move three times in a single year. I'd strongly recommend against even thinking about this school as a possible option for your loved one. read more

We came to care bear after being frustrated at another "big name" preschool with the hope that Carebear could get our son ready for kindergarten. They far exceeded our expectations! My son not only had a blast everyday but also learned an insane amount! He is definitely ready for kindergarten now! Mrs Shannon couldn't have been a better fit for him. All the staff cared about your kids, their education and well being. The facility was always very clean and all of the toys, desks, books etc were very up to date and not old or used. I can't say enough about Carebear preschool. I wish my older son could have gone there. My younger son got to be in the 3's program with Ms. Nancy and Pre-K with Ms. Staci. Both have been amazing teachers who truly care for my son and have been amazing teachers. I have seen so much growth in him over these past two years and he is more than prepared for Kindergarten. In fact, I now worry he might be bored if we don't get him into an advanced kindergarten program. Which is a great problem to have. :) read more

We had our daughter at this preschool last year and were very sad we had to pull her out due to our move. This is the BEST preschool! We had her at other preschools in the area and nothing compaired to this school. The teachers are absolutely wonderful and the curriculum is wonderful.
