I just finished my Christmas Dinner that I ordered from this business. It was the best Christmas Dinner that I have had in several years. Everything was cooked to perfection and the reheating instructions were clear and concise. I would definitely recommend this Deli for all of your Turkey dinner needs. ***CONSUMERS WITH ALLERGIES BEWARE*** I recently purchased, what I believed to be a chicken pot pie as that was what the label said, for lunch. 5 minutes after I began eating it, I realized it was in fact a salmon pot pie, which I am severely allergic and anaphylaxis to. After using my epi-pen, rushing to the hospital, and a long visit in an emergency room bed, I was fortunate to walk out. The following day, a visit was made to Careit to bring to their attention the situation, so it would never happen again to other paying customers. We were met with the following responses: "Ah thats unfortunate, mistakes happen" "What do you want us to do about it now?" "You're still alive, don't worry so much" I fear for other consumers who suffer from food allergies that a similar situation will occur, and am terrified the outcome could be much worse than my experience. The lack of empathy and concern shown by the manager today was incredibly hurtful and concerning. read more

I had no idea Careit existed until I started picking up my weekly CSA produce from Riverbend Deli. Now it is a weekly stop for locally produced meat treats and the most amazing prepared meals a girl who doesn't like to cook could ask for. Greeted when you walk in, even if they are with a customer, is a start to a great trip. I recently picked up their hummus and artichoke asiago dips - fresh, delish and so full of taste! Great with crackers or veggies. Staff is knowledgeable about their deli items, even able to tell me how best to cook the meat and in what I should cook it in. Booyah! They carry their own items as well as Pinocchio gelato, Irvine Farms sausages and some other local produce. Hours are great - every day (Even Sunday!) and until 6pm on Saturdays! The selection is sometimes a little low during the evenings but there is usually something I can substitute. Try the chicken carbonara pasta - take it home and serve your family of four with a fresh salad. Best meal you didn't cook! read more

Well now, we have ourselves an deli! A great selection of butchered meat that are all fresh with a true commitment to sourcing from Alberta farmers. A whole case of salads and veg, on the go meals, dips and spreads, a sandwich and panini prep station; which has a great Reuben! I can't wait to try the pulled pork next time! They also make 2 different soups a day and have quite a few different desserts. They have a very prominent dedication to serving Gluten free and/or dairy free options. Much more so then I have ever seen at any other deli! I can most definitely see myself coming back, especially for the variety of sides that looked amazing for any dinner, BBQ or party. I'm not sure I can give you any more information than previous reviewers have done. They have healthy food that includes local meat which is hormone-free and organic, local vegetables, local crafts and foodstuffs, and the people working there are usually very kind and fun to talk with. Quite often, I'll stop in for even just one item -- their risotto yuuuu-huuuu-meeee! They also have pasta dishes and salads, so if you don't want to cook, you don't have to. The taste of the food makes the slightly more expensive cost completely worthwhile. Try it, you'll like it! read more

Purchased their chocolate mousse (wanted to give it one last try as I had previously mentioned the mousse had a funny 'mouth feel' not creamy but gritty). Well, this time it got worse, the chocolate mousse with not so fresh strawberries...the strawberries were covered on mould. One could not see this in the store but when you pulled the strawberries out of the mousse that is where the mould became evident and these strawberries were absolutely covered with the green stuff. I emailed this location to tell them about their mousse and I have not heard anything back from the Crestwood location. Plus, I am not sure why I purchased their risotto with mushrooms because I thought the cardinal rule of risotto was that it had to be made fresh and consumed very shortly after making it, well that is a good rule because the risotto here is gummy and downright awful. read more

I visited the 199 st. location, not the 142 st. one. I stopped by as I was in the area and looking for a fast, healthy lunch. I quick iPhone'd the yelp reviews for it, and figured it was worth a shot. I was a bit apprehensive given most of the reviews highlighted a high price, but I had a large sandwich, soup, and bottle of pop for $10.99. I don't think that's too bad. A quick browse in the display case found pre-made entrees of many types, suitable for 2 people easily, for $15.00. Half the price of restaurants. Not too bad. I wish when people say things are expensive, they'd give an example so people can judge for themselves. Anyways, I got a smoked ham and cheddar sandwich on a whole wheat kaiser. The sandwich came with the usual veg. toppings and was really good. Really fresh tasting and worth every penny. The soup however... bland, flavourless, and entirely forgettable. I had the chicken noodle and it just tasted like chicken and noodles in water. Pretty disappointing. I felt like it was a good deal considering the greatness of the sandwich, and may likely have been a one-off on the bad soup. I'll definitely try it again if I'm in the area. read more

I usually go to the 199st location, didn't know there was another one. First time i went, i tried the banana french toast. It was pretty delicious and never would have thought to put 2 of my favorite things together like that. I went back for a sandwich yesterday, had the chipotle chicken on white. At a price of about $7-8, it was a little pricey but extremely appetizing. The veggies and sauce went very well with the tender slices of chicken. I usually get full on half of a sandwich but it was just so yummy i had to eat it all. Would definately go again, but not too often as it is a little pricey. Checked out the soups but there was no ingredient list that i saw which is a turn-off for a person like me with so many allergies, although I'm sure if I asked, they could tell me what's in it. read more

I go to this deli all the time for fresh, locally sourced products. The prices for some items may be slightly more than in national chain stores, but you can taste the difference quality makes (sorry, couldn't resist). From the sliced deli meats to the marinated ready-to-cook meats, the take-out meals, the cheeses, the deli sandwiches, the dips, the olives, salads made with couscous, quinoa and other fun stuff - everything is fresh, prepared in-store, and delicious. I've never been disappointed with anything I've tried - in fact, we had pork chops purchased from there the other night and they were the Best Pork Chops Ever (my mouth is watering at the memory...) The staff is also very helpful and knowledgeable, particularly if you're looking for recommendations or cooking advice. The bottom line: CareIt satisfies your inner carnivore - and does so in a more ethical, environmently responsible way. My personal favourite is the sandwich/panini bar but I'm also a sucker for their salads. Careit use fresh local ingredients from a variety of producers in their prepared meals and is always stocked with a wide selection of deli meats and cheeses to choose from. The staff are helpful and will often give suggestions for items that pair well together. I don't always have time to plan meals and love knowing I can pop in and get quality, nutritious food for a great price! Tip: This location also has a freezer full of Pinocchio Ice Cream! Fantastic fresh soups, sandwiches even better than I make them and a range of local/gluten free options. What more could you ask for in a deli? Since we've discovered this place my husband and I find ourselves stopping here more and more for their selection of grab and go foods. If you're looking for fresh, healthy, quick to make meals then Careit should be at the top of your list. The staff is also extremely helpful when it comes to letting you know what ingredients are in everything (as there are a few things I won't eat) and I've even had the chance to chat with the owner on a couple occasions, who is always friendly and outgoing and ready to serve. Careit is a great deli. Located in an upscale shopping area in Crestwood, it offers great food at slightly elevated prices. When I came in, I had no specific ideas regarding what I would like to buy. Seeing Careit's menu set my priorities straight, and I ended up purchasing goat cheese staffed salmon, lasagna, chicken pot pie and artichoke/asiago dip. My husband was eyeing the long list of deli meats and cheeses but in the end we decided to buy those at Italian centre. We were about to pay for our purchases when we noticed good looking chocolate brownies. Of course we had to have them! I was a bit disappointed that the only fresh produce Careit had in stock was potatoes, but since we came in late in the afternoon when all vegetables were already swiped off the shelves, that was to be expected. Next time I'll make sure to come in during morning hours. Careit has a potential to become a regular shopping spot for me. And although their prices seem to be a bit higher compared to grocery chains, it is worth it since you pay for carefully selected meat from animals that weren't packed full of hormones and vegetables that aren't sprayed with parrafin wax. Careit is a lifesaver! This delicious deli located in Crestwood Centre is a frequent last minute lunch/dinner stop when groceries or creativity run short. Owned by two local chefs who are dedicated to healthy and convenient eating, this deli features ready to go meals that require a few minutes in the oven or microwave. There are two serving sizes, a small which is good for 1-2 people and a larger size for a family or two people who love leftovers. They also have fresh store made lunch meats, soups, fresh and unique salads (the Fattoush is a favorite!), specialty cheeses, perogys, and fresh made baking that is always changing. The first time I went in they had mini carrot loaves with cream cheese icing in the middle! There is also a selection of locally farmed meats and vegetables which they will happily add a marinade to if you ask. I recommend asking for the Tandoori chicken as I tend to clean out their stock on a regular basis! I highly recommend this place for a quick meal on the go. Nutritional information is also presented on most items. I would have given five stars, except that there are no expiry dates on any of their pre-made items, although I have never run into anything less than fresh. I would suggest treating their items as anything precooked made at home.....keep and eat in a couple of days and then return for more! read more

Service was poor. My husband and I were the only people in at the time and this was our first time at Careit. I chose the Mexican soup- the taste was not to die for! My husband had a sandwich and soup and he said it was- "ok". The lady that made it was more into chatting it up with the girl in the back than serving us. We decided to stay to eat our food at the one table inside and halfway through my soup I had a turkey bone in my mouth. My husband had to walk towards the ordering section to find the lady to tell her there was a bone in the soup so they were "aware" about it and she replied " oh you found a bone!"....no apologies. I bet she'll apologise to the next person who eats a bone from the soup and chokes on it. Won't be back. read more

I live in Penticton BC, and one of our customers in Edmonton had an employee who we knew well pass away. In lieu of sending flowers I wanted to send some food. I found this company on line, read some reviews and decided to see if they could help out. They were great. They even picked up a condolence card for me and delivered it with the trays. They were a big hit. I just had another similar situation arise in Edmonton again ( 2 months later) and I went back to them, again they were very willing to help out. So in my book they are a wonderful, carrying company and they did go out of their way to help me out by getting me a card. By all accounts the food was wonderful as well. Quite overpriced and the staff weren't overly eager to help. Was told it would be a great place to grab lunch but there wasn't much beyond salads for lunch. When I asked the employee if they sold cooked chicken breast to put on my salad he scoffed and said it wasn't hard to cook raw chicken, implying I could buy raw chicken on my lunch break.
