This came after months of escalating boundary violations. He preys on people he perceives as weak. In my case, I was in full-body recovery from injuries caused by childhood abuse. He assumed the toll it was taking on my body meant I wouldn't fight back. This is someone who is supposed to be a healer. Instead, he used his position as a doctor to exploit and retraumatize patients. When Brian says light touch, I was skeptical he did anything at all. I couldn't feel anything during the session, which in as much pain as I'm in, light touch is what I needed. We finished the session and asked if he could tell me I'd receive relief in at least 24 hours?! I was trying to hide my tears of disappointment and pain. Ann was ALWAYS professional & FRIENDLY & so was the other assistant who's name escapes me. Doctor Swedberg - quiet, reserved, adept at his job. Our insurance is through Motion Pictures Health that covers no co-pay or charge for Chiropractic care for several visits. BC/BS here in NM is the "middle man" for MPI & they route all claims for our medical care to MPI. MPI makes THE DECISION as to what is covered & what's not & pays the doctor, etc. Last year when we went for care my husband was told, by Ann, that there was a charge for his care. LONG story short, it was because part of his insurance is now covered by Medicare & Swedberg doesn't honor it. Of course, this important FACT was NOT explained to him when he made the appointment so we had insisted in the office that something was wrong as Chiropractic care is covered by our insurance. We went to the office this week & a new girl was working behind the desk, VALERIE. She asked me if my insurance was the same & I said yes; asked her if she wanted to see my card. " No, I've got the information. I called." Hmmm, I thought, so why are you asking if you already know & don't want to see my card? Then she asked me to come to the desk, said there was a balance on my chart. We were taken back at that & I asked when was that? From our last visit in January 2017! We NEVER got a bill, not from Swedberg. VALERIE claimed there is an EXTRA charge for extremities. WHAT?! NEVER heard that before. NEVER got charged EXTRA for that. My husband said he would pay it. By this time there were 3 other clients there, Swedberg came out from the treatment area & asked what was wrong. We told him there was a balance on my end, didn't know why we NEVER GOT A BILL. VALERIE told ME we got a bill from BC/BS. I said, NO I didn't. We've NEVER received a bill from them & wouldn't because MPI submits payments. Swedberg said forget it this time. Well, THAT response wasn't what VALERIE wanted to hear. She told me to come to the desk again, AFTER Swedberg dismissed the charge. VALERIE called herself telling me with clipboard in hand that " extremities aren't covered by your insurance, blah, blah, blah, blah!" VALERIE didn't care what I said. VALERIE INSISTED quite RUDELY THAT BC/BS is our provider & THEY make the payments. I got an Explanation of Benefits from BC/BS. VALERIE INSISTED SHE WAS CORRECT, which she wasn't. I told her that I took her insisting HER VIEW that I felt she was implying that I was lying. SWEDBERG was standing at the end of the counter ALL THIS TIME. NEVER said a word to VALERIE as she ARROGANTLY & DISRESPECTFULLY ASSERTED HER VIEW. Then VALERIE told me that I would not be seen that day. AND she also said twice, " I remember YOU the last time YOU were here!" I said I didn't even remember her from last time. Seems like VALERIE didn't like the fact that I SPOKE UP, that Ann must of made an error. Seems that VALERIE doesn't like certain people expressing nor speaking up FOR THEMSELVES. (Seems to be too many people here in NM that hold that attitude toward certain people & they make it quite obvious). Seems that VALERIE couldn't WAIT to see me again & SPEW her JUDGEMENTAL VENOM in my face. Seems to me that SWEDBERG'S "mild manner" flip side could be taken as apathy or wimpy as he said NOTHING to VALERIE. It was obviously just fine with him HOW this IMMATURE, HOSTILE BRAT he employees speaks to clients, a.k.a., people who keep him in business. He said there was too much tension & he wouldn't treat me. Yep & you WON'T see me ever again. I contacted MPI when I got home & they told me that they paid for my care, everything is covered. The coding VALERIE submitted was INCORRECT & that's why it wasn't covered. All she had to do was a CALL to them, which VALERIE CLAIMED she did. VALERIE: INCOMPETENT, IMMATURE, PREJUDICED, REVENGEFUL & shall I say IGNORANT.
