I had a very concerning experience at this CareNow Urgent Care location due to the behavior of the front desk representative who checked me in. From the moment I arrived, the interaction felt passive-aggressive and unwelcoming. Instead of making me feel like a patient who needed care, I was made to feel like an inconvenience. What stood out the most was being offered a different location to go to, which came across as though I was not welcome at this facility. There was no explanation, reassurance, or effort to be kind or helpful--just a dismissive tone that made the situation uncomfortable and discouraging. When someone seeks urgent care, they are often already stressed, unwell, or vulnerable. Being met with hostility or indifference at the front desk is unacceptable and deeply concerning. Front desk staff set the tone for the entire visit, and in this case, it reflected poorly on the professionalism and patient-centered values CareNow claims to uphold. I truly hope management addresses this issue, as no patient should feel pushed away or treated with passive aggression when simply trying to receive medical care. read more

I've come to this urgent care for quite a few years with needed. But the staff today was not helpful and did not seem to know how insurance works. could be new or lack of training, but when I explained there is a 0 cost after you meet your out of pocket, she argued with me. instead of asking for help. no one wants to pay up front when they have maxed out their out of pocket for the year . read more

I came here worrying it would be like every other urgent care. It wasn't. I waited in the office for about 10 minutes before they sent me back to the doctor. I asked if I could be with a girl cause I was having problems with my lady parts and without question they sent me 2 amazing ladies and they made me feel so safe so comfortable and even joked with me. This office is amazing. The people are kind and very hard working. They sent me on my way I didn't have anything going on but since they were girls they showed me some things to get for my area and it started to heal after 2 days. read more

Went in with a UTI and they prescribed an antibiotic. I've had UTIs before and when I realized it was not working I called and was told it would take days. They called me on day 3 to say lab results showed I was on the right antibiotic but I was worse on day 5 and when I called they said they would call back that afternoon. They never called and I finally went to the emergency room to get an affective medication. read more

I haven't been in an Urgent Care in years, the woman said that I needed to check-in on the tablet in front of the desk. Fails to mention anything about getting a text message, needing more information before being seen. Which prolonged our visit. Asked if I was paying cash or card today, explained that I needed to get my card then I would be right back. Came back waiting for the card reader to be ready, she ask me again. I said card she explained the reader was ready. Everything between the patient and the nurses went well. I asked for a note for my job. I am at the front desk, I see the person whom I asked for the note and they print it, look at the receptionist seeming irritable. As if to say you could stand up, get the paper off the printer, while finishing your conversation, with possible new patient. However, the receptionist gets none of that because they don't see the person printing the paper, they are looking forward at their computer as if to avoid me. The best part of the whole thing, all the paperwork was done by me, no mention of the person whom I was with anywhere on the paperwork, no personal information was given of them! How did they, person that I was with, get a text message, regarding to the prescription??? Must have some wires crossed there. read more

This has been our families go-to for medical needs that are more serious than being able to wait for our primary care physician but not so serious that we need emergency care. From sinus infections, to a temporary inhaler until we could get my husband to his asthma doctor, to Covid and needing notes for work; these practitioners and nursing staff take care of us. Sometimes the personalities don't always mix, that's just being human. Using the online system for check-in really makes it a lot faster (they can be busy just like any other business, that's the luck of the draw) and once you're in, they're very efficient and thorough about their services. read more

Beware of using the online scheduler. I entered my info and got the text message confirming that they would contact me when I could come in. I waited two hours without hearing anything so I called and asked about the waiting time. The receptionist said there was no wait to get in. When I told her I had done the online scheduler she said "oh" and gave me the code required to finish registration. No explanation or apology for the 2 hour delay. When I went in to the office there again was no acknowledgement of or apology for the delay. The whole time I was in the waiting room the receptionist was FaceTiming with her child. It would have been nice if she had at least apologized for not paying attention to her duties. Care by the medical staff was fine. read more

Came to the clinic since my family doctor's office is not open on Saturdays. I have had symptoms of a cold. However, I have a history of heart disease and I still take six different prescription medications/daily. I have to be careful as to what medications I take to treat even a cold. I did not wait very long in the waiting room before I was taken to the examination room. The PA asked about what medication I was taking and my medical history. I then had a rather long wait before the doctor came in. After talking about my medical history and current medications, he agreed that a common cold could worsen if left untreated and I have to be careful about what medications I take. He prescribed two prescription medications. The clinic called me back 24 hours later in follow up. For simple problem that needed immediate care, they were quite good. read more

Told by front desk that the doctors here can't make diagnosis. If your doctors aren't allowed to make diagnosis then how are you operating at all. How are medications for things like strep and other infections prescribed absolutely terrible service if that's how you operate. read more

I so appreciate this urgent care. I am from out of state but visit the KC area frequently. In March of 2019 And October of 2020 I needed help. I've experienced two doctors here and they were both thorough, understanding, and helped me immensely so that I could enjoy the rest of my visit and have a healthy flight home. read more

After waiting for a little over an hour they took me back to get an x-ray of my hand and then they said they couldn't help determine if it was broken or if anything had torn in my wrist. So I took their X-ray to a different place and they told me the photos were so bad they couldn't even tell which hand they were looking at. This is my second time being here, both bad experiences. I'm really surprised to see such negative comments about this facility. I have been here three times (my doctor quit and I have yet to find another). In each instance I was treated promptly, politely, and professionally. I saw a different NPs and LPNs each time. They took the time to listen to my problems and existing conditions and my concerns about specific medications. I was given suggestions on how to make sure I did not experience any negative reactions (as I had in the past ). I am totally satisfied with all aspects of this office and will definitely return until I find a new doctor. read more

This urgent care charged me $214 to take a urine analysis for my daughter for a possible UTI. Told me in their office that it was positive and she needed antibiotics, then days later called me to say it was actually negative and she didn't need antibiotics after all. They neglected to tell me in office that their test wasn't a reliable test and they would actually be sending it off to a lab to get a real result. So after $214 of an office fee I ended up giving my daughter unnecessary antibiotics . How irresponsible especially in a day and age of massive antibiotic resistance on the rise. Will never go here again- there should be some form of accountability for doctors who prescribe unnecessary medical treatments. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. I do not recommend this urgent care!! My loved one that came in very sick and could hardly breath was tested for the flu, test came back negative, but the doctor proceeded to say all your symptoms are for the flu so that's what I'm going to treat you for. Next day loved one is admitted to the hospital for a week because they had PNEUMONIA. Please always be an advocate for yourself and loved ones. read more

This is the worst urgent care I have ever been in! The Dr. disregards EVERYTHING you say! He's in the room for a total of 2.5 seconds and his diagnosis is wrong cause he didn't listen! Was bitten by a dog and he said I had the flu!!! Went to my own doctor when I left there and I had a blood clot under the bite in my leg! What a quack! Don't waste your money on this guy!! read more

Imposible to talk to someone over the phone. There's a way to check in online & apparently someone is supposed to notify you when they're ready to see you. Going on five hours later not hearing back & tried calling but their phone line goes in circles with their list of options not being able to talk to a real person! read more

Went here for the first time today. Not impressed. The wait was really long. The wait for the doctor once your in a room is long as well. The doctor diagnosed me with Laryngitis. So.... I have congestion, coughing, sneezing, upper chest pain, sore throat. I am sick. Been like this for 5 days now. And he diagnosed me with laryngitis?!? Are you kidding me? I questioned this diagnosis. Doctor didn't even look in my throat to see if I might have strep. He gave me a couple of scripts and out the door I went. Maybe spent a total of 4 minutes with the actual doctor. He was in a hurry. Extremely pleased with the attending physician, Dr. Wright, and his staff, who were professional, caring, and respectful. My primary care doctor actually has walk-in clinic hours at his office during the week, but I prefer not to lose work time if I don't have to and I just needed a routine service any doc could have provided. I don't live in Independence and only went to this clinic because I was running another errand in that part of town today, but I'll definitely recommend it to friends (of whom I have many since Independence is my hometown) and talk them up as much as possible. I came to this clinic because it was closest to me and I trusted HCA. The service I received was was above and beyond what I have received at urgent care facilities in the past. I was very sick, they took care of me promptly. Dr. Knight was kind and unhurried. He listened to my concerns and provided me with a care plan. The front desk was friendly and helpful, I could barely talk because of a sore throat. The MA was competent and professional. I will return to this clinic should the need arise. I recently had to make a trip to urgent care because I had excruciating pain in my jaw. I was seen by Dr. Trenton Knewtson. His bedside manner is atrocious and unprofessional. His only assessment was to examine my ear. When I began to cry because of the pain his response was "if I wanted to cry, I needed to go to the ER". This "doctor" should be avoided if possible. I have worked in the healthcare system for many years and I was not properly assessed. He is on the road to a malpractice lawsuit. read more
