Great choice if you need a rehab after surgery. ALL staff from front desk, nurses, physical therapists, social workers always great to work with. Friendly. Truly made you feel they cared. Food above par for this type of facility. Recently remodeled and expanded. Had a very close, elderly relative stay here twice in past 5 years. Even during Covid, they had their protocols solid and really tried to help the visitors just much as the patient. read more

Everything. Nurse attitude at admission was deplorable. Gave reasons for not situating my parent for 3 hours since moving to careone from hospital was too many patients. Equipment. Their temperature gun showed 99 when the transport to the hospital arrived, they showed 102!! How! Cramped. Two people to a room. If you went between the beds of the 2 patients, you would likely fall on the other person in the room of the person you are visiting. Hot as anything in the rooms. One poor nurse tried to help but she honestly couldn't do much - her hands were tied. My parent spent 1 night in this place. Never again. Zero stars if I could read more

My mother rehabbed here after hip surgery in 2023. I wouldnt send my enemy here. We had her moved from her first room because the entire hall smelled of urine and feces and patients yelling for help and no aides to be found anywhere. She was moved to a quieter, newer and cleaner wing/room but level of care did not change. We practically had to beg someone to come when she needed assistance. Everyone was rude. I would bet my life that when we were not there, they let her lay there as long as they wanted. It should be called Care NONE read more

These people suck. Cold and callous. Heartless without any remorse ageism is real. ageism is determining if an elderly person should live just because of age and age alone without any terminal illness. I spent almost 4 weeks there while recovering from a serious illness. I needed a lot of help taking care of myself and A LOT of physical therapy. I had the best experience possible. The place is clean and beautiful and cheerfully decorated for the season. The food was really good! Most importantly, the staff was compassionate and caring and always available. The physical therapists worked hard to get me back in shape. I wish I could remember everyone's names. Roni and Allen in PT were wonderful. R.N. Stay as far away from this place as you can. I received a cold call from them late one night that my father was found dead on the floor. The nurse could barely take any time to give me the details of what exactly happened and then said I would get a call back and that never happened as I was rushed off the phone. Their lack of care for him and neglect is what caused it. They have no compassion or care for any of their patients. Leave them neglected for hours on end, ignore the call button while they stand around and hang out behind the desk, don't make any effort to get them out of bed daily or dressed, etc. Absolute Disgrace!!! I only gave it one star as it won't let me post without giving at least one. It deserves 0!!!! read more

I have been here for 4 days. These pic are of garbage on my floor. I am bed ridden basically. I need them to come get me to go to restroom. I hit the buzzer but what's the point it take forever for them to come. I had bad diahrea no one came so I got up into wheelchair and rolled myself to restroom where I made a mess.bi had to pull that cord 5 min I waited but when girl came she was annoyed she had a mess to clean not whether I was ok or not. She cleaned me up and I asked for meds she said she'll get nurse still waiting for nurse. I also asked for ice water still waiting. I highly do not recommend this company at all. They had a full staff last night that was joking around and having a good old time as everything buzzers were going off for over 30 min. I know mine was over an hour. read more

Today March 23rd is the day is the anniversary I finally removed my mother out of this horrendous rehab nursing home. As resistant as the facility was for me not to remove her, slow walking the transfer papers, billing Medicare, then on March 23 Dr Saeed's partner had the nerve to say why transfer her to the ER for evaluation leave her her to die! Unbelievable! My mother was there only temporarily to finish IV antibiotics for uti. Within 1 1/2 weeks I wanted her out of there. Neglect, abandonment , abuse, non attention, carelessness shall I go on? Think again before sending your loved one to this facility!! the star rating is less than 1 star!! read more

If you need a sub-rehab, this is one of the better ones. The staff is the best I have encountered in a medical facility. It is difficult enough dealing with aging family members but the staff here comes from a place of compassion and understanding. Thank you, especially Allie, Leah and Crystal. My mom was in this faculty for over 6 weeks. For those six weeks she never once had a shower and after 5 1/2 weeks they finally use a shampoo cap on her head to clean her hair. The aid that was in charge of her named Espy was very unprofessional and nasty. She had an attitude Every time she needed to do something for my mother. The food was horrible but this is no reflection on the nursing staff they were very nice it was the CNA and whoever was doing the cooking show did not know how to cook. If I ever needed rehab this is not the place that I would go to. read more

I recently spent a month at Care One while recuperating from a surgery I had. I have given a 5-star rating because of my experience on how everyone that took care of me or participated in my well being went above and beyond my expectations. I had recently been in another rehab, not a Care One facility which was terrible so I do have something to compare it with. The nursing staff and aides were excellent! They were attentive to my needs and concerns at all times. The aides that took care of me did an excellent job also. They automatically kept the room cleaned, made sure I was taken care of and were always kind and polite. Everyone always went above and beyond. I was well taken care of and the rooms were kept very clean. The food was excellent and there were sufficient other choices to choose from if you didn't like what was on the menu. There is a new food director there Michael who would always try to make sure you had the food you liked and would do his best. You could either eat in the very nice dining room and be served or in your room if you chose to . The physical therapy and occupational therapy which is the reason I was at Care One was excellent. There were a sufficient number of staff to accommodate the patients. Since many patients are in the facility for a period of time recouperating, Care One had many nice activities and entertainment for all ages. Everyone was treated with great respect from what I saw. I highly recommend Care One at Valley in Westwood! read more

My brother, for whom I am guardian, spent 8 full days at St. Barnabas Hospital after having back-to-back seizures at his group home. He has Down Syndrome and dementia and was pretty much alone without stimulation while in the hospital. The doctor had stopped his pain medication on day one (he has bone-on-bone in both hips and needs relief) and because he'd gone into the hospital for seizures, she was annoyed when I asked about hip x-rays and meds. She finally agreed to the x-rays then started pain meds about 8 hours before he was to be transferred. Enter Care One at Valley! Spoke to the P.A. early Friday morning and she went over everything, including a change in the pain meds but with a willingness to return to the original script if the change didn't work. I was able to correct info the hospital sent where they insisted he hadn't walked in over a year! He was walking with the walker up until he had the seizures! At any rate, from her to the Social Worker, to the nurse, to the activities person I have been kept up every step of the way. After being in bed since May 27th, it may be difficult to regain the skill of walking but I am confident he will because of the loving support I have seen thus far. read more

I am writing you in regards to the Care One facility in Westwood NJ. My mother was a patient there for over a month. She passed away last Tuesday. My concern regarding this facility is in regards to her care. My mom was in that facility, voluntarily to receive physical therapy. Now I know my mom and I know she can be a very difficult person but difficult or not she deserved to be treated like a person. I was on a call with my mom the Friday before she passed, at which time she called for staff to help her get to the bathroom. 45 minutes she called for assistance. She asked for a supervisor and was told that they were busy with patients. My moms response was "i am a patient too". A week before she called for help at 2am. No one came or responded and my mom wound up urinating herself in an attempt to get to the bathroom. She was left like that for several hours; stripped of dignity is my thought. Her clothes were missing. I spoke to Kristal (sp) the social worker and she knew her clothes were missing and said they were looking into it. Weeks her clothes were missing. She was down to 2 pair of socks and 2 pair of underwear. Pants and pajamas were missing. I asked my mom if her clothes were labeled and she told me "yes with black marker", her room and bed number. Her clothes were magically found the day we went to pick up her things. They also lost my moms personal oxygen machine but according to another social worker they had to do some digging and found it. My mom was found unresponsive. We were told the staff checked on her at 8:30 and she was fine. When they supposedly checked on her at 9:10 she wasn't breathing. I don't believe anyone checked on her at 8:30. Why? Because i sat on the phone with her for 45 minutes and no one came in. Suddenly they are checking on her in 40 minutes? I don't think so. My mom complained of condensation in her breathing tube and was told they didn't have a doctors order to clean it out. My mom had wounds on her legs that she needed assistance with cleaning and was told the doctor didn't put in an order. What exactly do they do there if not helping patients. I called the social worker for a progress report on my mom. 2 weeks I waited and never received a call. I was told there were no messages. This is just a list of the most important concerns or complaints. Nothing can bring my mom back, but perhaps this email can serve as a review of that facility and maybe the next poor soul that chooses Care One of Westwood NJ will think twice. My mom was someone's mother, grandmother and great grandmother. We don't even know why she died. No one can tell us anything because no one paid enough attention to a patient making sure she was o.k. My mom went into Care One at Valley after being in hospital . When she entered she was scared and had lost the ability to walk. Four months later she walked out of the front door waving good bye to staff who had become like family. From the first day the staff was professional and courteous . My family was informed the entire time of her condition and treatment ,the facility was always immaculate and never did she need anything that wasnt taken care of. I am very grateful to Care One at Valley they recieve my highest recommendation. read more

I came from out of state to visit not one but two of my family members who spent time at Care One (at Valley) From the moment I entered the building I was very pleased. The young lady who greeted us and gave directions on where to find the room was so friendly and warm. The building was clean,bright and had a "home like" feel. The staff was so kind and explained the care plan that was in place. During an afternoon visit with my uncle, one of the nurses walked in at the start of her shift and handed him a donut that she picked up for him knowing he enjoyed his sweets....everyone really took the time to GET TO KNOW the patient ! I arrived here on the 6th of September after breaking my leg on Labor Day and having surgery to put in a plate and screws on Wednesday. It is the 27th of September, and I am leaving so I can finish healing in the home setting. Having prior experience at inpatient Physical and Occupational Therapy, I was astounded by the level of care that the staff here gave me... Dr. Mary Ann Schran, whose guidance has given me many things to consider, was my main doctor, and Dr. Philip Melchiorre, a physiatrist, who also helped manage my care, were easy to talk to, and brought me the information I needed so that I could be fully informed in my decisions. There were many nurses with whom I was able to interact. Diane, the Unit Clerk and Glenda, the charge nurse, were such a pleasure. The nurses who came to give me medicine and check my vitals, while also checking in on my needs included: Pedro, John, Keera, Afua, Stephanie, Margaret, Jose, and a few others. The aids who were bouncing from room to room to help us with all our daily tasks and so much more, include: Anna, Aster, Carlo, Caroline, Kiesha, Marie, Mary, Porscha and Twila among others. They provided the most amazing care, and I would say I wouldn't have had such an easy time if it weren't for their abilities to be personal and professional in all the best ways. My Physical Therapist was mainly Pius. He has energy (and a good sense of humor!), and will help you make real strides towards whatever goals you are focusing on. He listens, and he adjusts to your concerns, and trust him, he will help you get the best care. And Jean, also, he is wonderful to work with too! I had a chance to work with Occupational Therapy also, with Jen (who had me learn a new exercise that I can now do with even more ease than when I arrived! That was exciting!), Mary Anne (one of the nicest people you will ever meet) & John (thank you for getting me the labels for my chair and legs). They helped me gain strength and helped me really appreciate the ways that it will help me when I get home. All of their excitement about therapy was contagious, and prepared me to arrive at the gym for PT and the OT room. They had me take on new and challenging tasks, while solidifying the bases I would need for everyday things. These were the assigned PT/OT, but that did not mean I only interacted with them. I also got to see Adoboye, Andrew, Kim, Mary (whose singing voice is heavenly. If you can go see her perform while you are here!), Mira, Natasya, Rani, Syvil, and so many others. They were great with the other patients, kind and professional, and I was lucky to interact with them all. Also, Pius and Jen, thank you for helping me figure out what equipment I would need to go home with, and work with me on how to navigate the difficulties of being home. And then there is Krystle Ferreira. She was the social worker in charge of my case, and she kept me updated with the goings on with insurance, and made sure that I arranged to get the appropriate services for care at home when leaving CareOne. She also helped with any other needs or questions during the duration of my care as they applied to the insurance and services available to me. Access to materials and entertainment, like Bingo, musical entertainment, etc. or things like colored pencils and paper, were easily requested through Genta and her office. She coordinates the social activities that are posted in a calendar each month. I also met Nayda, who would pop-in and see if I wanted to come to events that were happening. Dining is an important part of the care experience, especially as a vegetarian. With Executive Chef Mike, you get the best tasting food you couldn't even imagine eating in a place like this. And Assistant Director of Dietary, Melissa, came to see if I needed anything on many occasions. Maintence staff, Ernesto, Eduardo, Skippy, Sam and Steve were all on top of their work, keeping this place running like clockwork. All in all, I received the best care I needed during this recovery from administrative and intake to care and discharge. I am very fortunate for places like CareOne in Westwood, NJ. read more
